Derek Zhang's furious roar made the previously smiling Henry Zhang feel a twinge of annoyance deep down.
He turned his head and saw Derek Zhang and the others entering the resort, then nodded, "Mr. Zhang, you all made it too."
"Of course we came! You drove so fast and didn't bring anyone—what's that supposed to mean? Are you looking down on me, Mr. Zhang?" Derek Zhang grew even angrier at Henry's attitude.
"Henry, the way you're handling things is just wrong. If you act like this, what company would even want you? Just say it—are you quitting? If you don't want to work here, I'll have Derek talk to your boss!" Xiao Yun sneered from beside Derek Zhang.
Sharon Chen, standing behind them, gave Joy Zheng's group a cool glance, then looked at Henry Zhang and said, "Do you even know who we are? I've had dinner with your chairman, Sawyer Summer. This is the first time I've met an employee with such poor service. Lucky for you, you don't work under me—otherwise I'd have kicked you out ages ago."
Sharon Chen spoke calmly, without any deliberate aggression, but her words made Stella Cui and the others' faces change dramatically.
Xiao Yun and Derek Zhang exchanged a look, both surprised—neither had expected Sharon Chen to have dined with Sawyer Summer.
"Sawyer Summer, the head of the Summer Group?"
"He just beat Aiden Li, the former richest man in River City, in a bet and is now taking over all the Li family's assets. He's definitely the richest man in Seacrest now!"
After Sharon Chen finished, everyone around was stunned. Even Derek Zhang had never had the chance to dine with Sawyer Summer—he always thought Sharon Chen was just another rich kid, never expecting she actually had real connections to Sawyer Summer.
Neil Kong cursed under his breath, but he knew that arguing with Henry Zhang now was pointless. Anything he said would only make them lose more face.
Evan Lin stood on the sidelines, watching the whole scene with interest.
Lucy Lu couldn’t help but feel a bit pleased seeing that group eat crow.
Yolanda Fang and Stella Cui hardly ever kept in touch with Lucy Lu, but this time they sided with Neil Kong, inviting Lucy and Joy Zheng mainly to help Neil save face.
Back when Joy Zheng turned Neil Kong down, she did it gently and politely. But Neil was always a petty, vindictive “phoenix man”—narrow-minded and obsessed with payback.
If Yolanda Fang and Stella Cui wanted to flatter Neil Kong, Lucy Lu didn’t mind. But if they tried to do it by stepping on Joy Zheng, Lucy would definitely step in.
Before coming, Lucy Lu had prepared all kinds of rebuttals, but in the end, she didn’t have to say a word—the other side embarrassed themselves first.
Let’s head over.
Lucy Lu linked arms with Joy Zheng; Yolanda Fang copied her, looping her arm through Lynn Chen’s, then grinned mischievously at Evan Lin: “Hey, want me to lend you an arm?”
Evan Lin didn’t bother looking at her. When he walked up to Henry Zhang, he gave him a slight nod.
That simple gesture instantly calmed Henry Zhang’s nerves, making him even more determined to stand with Evan Lin.
The group headed to the back of the resort.
Beside the resort’s outdoor pool, tables were already piled high with snacks and fresh fruit.
This is outrageous! Henry Zhang, you’ve embarrassed Mr. Kong.
Derek Zhang still looked unhappy, but forced a smile.
It’s not your fault. Some people are just unreasonable—there’s no point arguing with them. We civilized folks don’t stoop to their level." Neil Kong replied, sounding a bit dismissive.
Yolanda Fang chimed in, “That’s right, we’re not even in the same world as Henry Zhang.” Then she turned to Lucy Lu and Joy Zheng: “Lucy, Joy, come join us!”
“Sure!” Lucy Lu replied with a smile, then lowered her voice to Joy Zheng, her face full of disdain: “These people never give up. If they ask you something, answer if you can—otherwise, just ignore them.”
Joy Zheng nodded. She wasn’t stupid—she knew exactly what they were up to. But afraid? Not a chance.
The group found seats and settled in.
“Hey, why are you still carrying that backpack? Aren’t you going to put it down somewhere?” Yolanda Fang asked, raising an eyebrow at Evan Lin, curious.
Lynn Chen glanced over. “Got something good in there? You were carrying it the whole time in Zhaoyu Town, too.”
Before Evan Lin could answer, Ryan Chen—headphones on, iPhone X in hand—pulled up a chair and sat down between Yolanda Fang and Lynn Chen, neatly separating them from Evan.
