Afterwards, Evan Chu introduced everyone to each other. Roxanne Lin, being the one most familiar with both sides, quickly helped Serena Dream, Selena Yale, and the others warm up to Jenny Sima and her group. Evan, meanwhile, took Heaven Ape and the Savage Earth Dragon to the main hall—he had to see his father first. That was the least he could do.
Dominic Chu was leisurely sipping tea in the grand hall. When he saw Evan and the others walk in, he thought he was seeing things and couldn't help but rub his eyes. After a closer look, he realized it really was Evan Chu, and immediately stood up to greet his son.
“Dad!” Evan called out, then swept Dominic into a bear hug. After a few breaths, he let go and asked, “How have you been these years? Has anyone bullied you?”
“I’m doing well, son. My cultivation’s improved—I’m at the seventh layer of the Earth Martial Realm now. Pretty impressive, right? Who would dare bully me in the Royal Capital? Luna Chu would be the first to deal with them, not to mention your reputation as Grand Protector-General. By the way, Evan, what brings you home this time?” Dominic Chu replied.
“I want to bring you and Jenny and the others away from here, to settle in the Azure Tide Ruins. What do you think?” Evan said. He didn’t dare force Dominic Chu—elders often feel attached to their homeland, and pushing them would only backfire.
“That’s a good thing, but I won’t go. The Heavenly Dragon Empire is where I was born. You can take Jenny and the girls, but I’ll stay here,” Dominic Chu replied.
“Dad, you’ll definitely go. Soon, I’m going to the Dragon Shrine to bring Mom back. When she’s free, you two can reunite in the Azure Tide Ruins. You wouldn’t want Mom to be alone there, would you?” Evan smiled.
“Evan, are you serious? Do you really have the confidence to save your mother? You know how powerful the Divine Dragon Clan is—you need to think this through,” Dominic Chu said, getting a bit emotional.
“I know exactly what I’m up against, so don’t worry. If I say I’ll save Mom, I’ll make it happen. But Dad, are you willing to move to the Azure Tide Ruins?” Evan smiled. From Dominic’s reaction, it was clear he’d never stopped longing for Mom—how many sleepless nights had he spent missing her? The thought made Evan’s heart ache.
“If you put it that way, I’d be a fool not to go. I’ve missed your mother so much all these years—I just hope she can escape her suffering soon. Evan, how long are you staying this time?” Dominic Chu asked.
