Watching the Show, Lord Bean Comes to Save You

2/14/2026

Prince Nolan deliberately chose to act in Golden Sands County because this place held six violent felons, all of whom were awaiting execution for serious crimes.

Prince Nolan decided these six should serve one last purpose: he let them thoroughly 'educate' Zed, so Zed would learn what it means not to inflict on others what you would not want for yourself.

For five days, Prince Nolan left Zed in the death-row cell with the felons, ignoring him completely and forbidding Serena from checking on him.

Dorian Owen wanted to watch, and Prince Nolan did not stop him—he only forbade Dorian from telling Serena what was happening inside.

Dorian Owen is the type who loves to join in the excitement—he went to the jail on the first day and came back loudly praising Prince Nolan’s brilliance, saying it was a perfect plan. But by the second day, Dorian could no longer laugh; he just looked deeply at Prince Nolan.

On the third day, Dorian came back pale-faced, not daring to look at Prince Nolan. By the fourth day, his legs were already shaking as he quietly begged for mercy on Zed’s behalf.

Prince Nolan spared Dorian a single glance, then ignored him completely.

Prince Nolan sent people to watch over things, making sure Zed wouldn’t die. He was not the least bit worried about Zed’s life.

Zed could slice people apart piece by piece, dig out their flesh and organs, and stuff the meat back into their mouths. Compared to what Zed himself had done, what he was suffering now was nothing—at least he hadn’t died.

On the fifth day, Dorian couldn’t bring himself to go see anymore. He lay stiff on his bed, constantly saying he felt unwell and asking Serena to check on him.

At first, Serena thought Dorian was just talking, but soon realized he was truly frightened. Worried, she hurriedly asked Dorian what had happened.

Dorian pressed his lips together, refusing to speak. He kept shaking his head, making it clear he wasn't going to say a word.

"What exactly did you do to Zed?" Seeing Dorian wouldn't talk, Serena went to ask Prince Nolan instead.

"You'll find out tonight." It wasn't that Prince Nolan refused to answer—he just didn't know all the details himself. But one thing was certain: Zed wouldn't have an easy time.

Serena wasn't really curious, just a bit worried. Since it was only half a day left, she didn't press further. She followed Prince Nolan's instructions and prepared medicine and bandages, waiting for Zed to return.

At dusk, Prince Nolan's men carried Zed back. He was covered in blood and filth, his face sunken and terrified. To see how badly he'd been hurt, they'd have to take off his clothes.

Seeing Zed like this, Serena wasn't surprised—she'd already expected him to be injured.

Serena had Zed carried to his room and ordered the servants to bring hot water to clean him up.

Serena was about to go in after him, but Prince Nolan blocked her way. "Don't go in, there's a doctor in the manor."

"Zed should only have external injuries. I want to go in and have a look," Serena said.

"It's not just external injuries—there are other wounds too. Don't worry, I've arranged a specialist doctor and medicine for him," Prince Nolan insisted, refusing to let Serena in.

No way could Serena be allowed to see Zed's body—his flesh had been bitten off piece by piece, not a single area left intact. She would probably turn against Nolan if she saw it.

Seeing Prince Nolan was firm, Serena didn't force her way in. She just asked, "Is there really a doctor in this manor?"

"Of course there's a doctor—the old man is right here!" The Master of the Mystic Healer Valley suddenly popped out of a corner. "Serena girl, are you trying to steal my patient?"

"Valley Master? Why are you here?" Serena turned around quickly. Seeing the Master of the Mystic Healer Valley, she immediately believed Prince Nolan's words.

The Master of the Mystic Healer Valley’s medical skills surpassed hers—she was only good at surgery.

"Why shouldn't I be here? What, not happy to see me? Am I disturbing you two?" The Valley Master glared and scowled—anyone who didn’t know better would think he hated Serena.

Okay, he really did dislike Serena—she’d refused to let Simon Sun become his apprentice. Good disciples were hard to find these days.

"Not at all, Valley Master—please go check on the child, he looks badly hurt." Saving lives was urgent; Serena didn’t want to waste time arguing with the Valley Master.

"It’s just a few minor injuries, nothing fatal. Why so nervous? With me here, he won’t die." Despite his words, the Valley Master sped up toward the room.

Serena wanted to follow, but Prince Nolan blocked her again. "With the Valley Master here, Zed will be fine. Dorian Owen is still shaken—go check on him instead."

Serena wasn’t stupid. If Prince Nolan kept blocking her from going in, of course she’d start to suspect something.

"What did you do to Zed, exactly?" Serena asked.

"Nothing much. I just threw him into a cell with death-row felons, so he could learn what real torture is." Prince Nolan said it lightly, then added for emphasis: "Whatever he did to others, I did to him. But I’m not as reckless—I didn’t harm his foundation."

He had people secretly protecting Zed. If the six felons ever went too far or endangered Zed’s life, someone would step in to stop it.

So, over those five days, Zed only suffered—he wasn’t humiliated. Prince Nolan wasn’t that cruel; he wouldn’t go that far with a child.

"Alright, I’ll leave it alone. We’ll talk after Zed recovers." Serena sighed, gave up, and turned toward Dorian’s room.

Prince Nolan had made himself clear—if Serena still didn’t get it, she’d have to be downright clueless.

What did Zed love most? He loved slicing people’s flesh off piece by piece, and when he was in a good mood, he’d roast the meat and stuff it back into their bellies.

He also liked cutting wounds into people and stuffing bugs and other things into them...

Since Prince Nolan had treated Zed the same way Zed tortured others, Zed probably had barely any flesh left. Serena didn't have the power to heal the dead or regrow bones—handing Zed over to the Valley Master was the best option.

Shortly after Serena left, the Valley Master burst out of the room, shouting at Prince Nolan: "Are you crazy, or do you just have too much money to burn? This kid is covered in wounds, and you want me to use my skin‑regrowth salve on him? If you wanted to save him, you shouldn’t have gone so far! Do you know how rare that salve is? I managed to refine only ten bottles, and now you want me to use them all on this brat? Are you out of your mind?"

"Valley Master, you know I’m not crazy. Serena wants him saved," Prince Nolan replied calmly.

If not for that, he wouldn’t have cared whether Zed lived or died. The Demon Sect was nearly destroyed—a minor young master meant nothing. Only his imperial brother wanted Zed kept alive to avoid trouble.

"You... you shameless woman-chaser! Wasting my precious medicine for a woman—one day, Serena will sell you off!" The Valley Master was so furious he stomped his feet.

With so many wounds, even dabbing a little on each would use up several bottles. The Valley Master’s heart ached at the thought of his hard-earned medicine being wasted.

Such a wasteful child, such a wasteful child!
