This Matter Is Not for Outsiders to Interfere In

Serena Feng eventually learned about the shadow guards' private discussions. The reason was simple...

Number Two, one of the shadow guards, had fallen for Jada Tang—Serena Feng’s own maid. Whether he could win her heart depended on Serena’s help.

This time, Prince Nolan didn’t step in; after some discussion, the shadow guards unanimously urged Number Two to come clean about his feelings.

In matters like this, honesty is the best policy!

After struggling for a while, Number Two finally accepted his brothers’ rather risky advice. First, he went to Prince Nolan and explained everything; with Nolan’s approval, he then approached Serena Feng to confess.

He managed to stay calm when speaking to Prince Nolan, but in front of Serena Feng, his composure vanished. Nervous was an understatement—he blushed, stammered...

Honestly, he was a total disaster!

For a moment, Number Two genuinely wanted to bang his head against the wall. He swore to the heavens he wasn’t usually like this—he might be quiet, but he never stammered just trying to speak.

“Your Majesty, I—I’m truly sincere. Please, I beg you, grant my wish.” He finally blurted it out, then squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for Serena Feng’s verdict.

Truthfully, he already felt a bit hopeless inside. He was sure the Empress would never agree—after all, he’d just made a mess of things. How could he possibly be worthy of Jada Tang?

Waaah... he wanted to cry. He'd practiced so many times beforehand—how could he still mess up like this? It was just too much.

His heart bled—if he missed this opportunity, he’d regret it forever, doomed to stay single for life.

Serena Feng wanted to reply, but seeing the shadow guard’s conflicted face, she honestly couldn’t help but laugh.

She admitted it was a little mean, but the shadow guard’s expression really was hilarious.

She hadn’t said anything, and Number Two already looked like he’d been rejected. He really wasn’t confident in himself.

“Your Majesty...” Serena Feng’s laughter hit Number Two hard—he really was about to cry.

Serena Feng quickly stopped laughing and apologized, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to.” She truly hadn’t meant it—she just couldn’t help herself.

“I understand, Your Majesty. I was overreaching. I’ll take my leave.” Number Two hung his head, looking just like a big, abandoned dog—the same way the Snow Wolves looked when Little Dumpling bullied them.

“Wait...” Serena Feng quickly called him back. “I wasn’t laughing at you, don’t overthink it.” She truly hadn’t meant to make fun of him—his expression was just too funny, and she lost control for a moment.

“Your Majesty, do you mean...?” Number Two looked like a drowning man grabbing a lifeline—his eyes lit up, full of hope as he gazed at Serena Feng.
