Dong, dong, dong...
The great bell of Skyvault Palace tolled. Instantly, the disciples of Skyvault Palace Sect sprang into action, entering a state of high alert, ready to sacrifice themselves to defend the sect.
The mechanisms rumbled to life, baring their savage fangs, warning Dorian Owen and those lurking in the shadows who had designs on Skyvault Palace...
Skyvault Palace isn't so easily bullied. Even if Dorian Owen brings an army to storm the gates, he'll pay for it in blood!
"Sean Xuan, what the hell is this supposed to mean? Are you messing with me?"
Dorian Owen stood at the foot of the mountain, watching the mechanisms of Skyvault Palace rise with a deafening roar, his face growing increasingly ugly.
Damn you, Sean Xuan! You're playing games with me, and I haven't even settled accounts yet. Now you dare activate the palace mechanisms against me? That's infuriating as hell.
Fuming, Dorian Owen ripped off his armor and cursed again: "Sean Xuan, you're not even human. You broke your promise to me, and now you dare use your mechanisms on me? You think that's justified?"
"Damn it, I've ridden four days and three nights—my horse is about to collapse. I finally make it to Skyvault Palace, and what do I get? Another dead end!"
"Sean Xuan, you bastard, you son of a—"
Smack—a lump of yellow mud fell from the sky, landing squarely in Dorian Owen's mouth.
"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey..." Dorian Owen's words were smothered by the mud, and he kept spitting it out. His personal guards immediately rushed forward with water to help him rinse his mouth.
"Dorian Owen, watch your mouth." Sean Xuan stood high on the watchtower, looking down at Dorian Owen with a furrowed brow.
So many people?
What is Dorian Owen planning? Does he really intend to tear down Skyvault Palace?
"Ptooey... My mouth isn't clean? Then what counts as clean? Sean Xuan, I'm telling you, I've already given you enough respect. If it weren't for Serena knowing you, I'd have razed Skyvault Palace to the ground by now."
"Big talk. You think you and your handful of men can flatten my Skyvault Palace? Beanie, want to give it a try?" Sean Xuan wasn't nervous at all; Beanie mentioning Serena meant he wouldn't actually attack.
"Damn it, how many times have I told you—stop calling me Beanie! Call me General Owen. Did you hear me?" Dorian Owen stomped his feet in rage.
After all these years, Beanie is still the same, or maybe even more hot-tempered than before. He's always ready to throw punches at the slightest provocation.
"Your mouth is full of filth—does Serena know about this?" Sean Xuan groaned.
Beanie Owen is just a kid who never grows up. All these years have passed, and he’s still exactly the same.
“What foul language? This is how real men talk—Serena wouldn’t care.” Beanie grinned, almost forgetting why he’d come. “No, wait—Sean Xuan, you old bastard, don’t think you can change the subject.”
“How am I changing the subject?” Sean Xuan was annoyed—what had he done to deserve Beanie calling him an old bastard in front of everyone?
“Don’t say you’re not changing the subject. You’re just afraid I’ll cause trouble, so you’re dodging, aren’t you?” Beanie looked smug as he said the last line.
You say I only curse, but I can be cultured too...
“Do you even know what you’re saying? What do you mean by dodging the issue? What did I say?” Sean Xuan was furious, not knowing how he’d offended Beanie.
“Still saying no? You’re just pretending. Go ahead and pretend.” Beanie threw his sword to the ground, raised his chin, and pointed at Sean Xuan: “Sean Xuan, you bastard! You broke your promise, and now you’re just putting on a show.”
“What did I promise you?” Sean Xuan felt wronged—he’d been busy lately and had no time for Beanie.
“You, you, you...” Beanie pointed at Sean Xuan, his finger trembling uncontrollably.
He was furious—Sean Xuan was the worst, making him come all this way for nothing and now refusing to admit it.
“Sean Xuan, you bastard! You clearly promised to help me keep Rory here—I said I wanted to go with him. I rushed here, but he’s gone, and you didn’t help me keep him. Can you even call yourself a man?” Beanie got angrier as he spoke, finally plopping down on the ground, grumbling in frustration.
“What are you talking about?” Sean Xuan was completely at a loss—he had no idea what Beanie was saying.
“See? You still won’t admit it. Are you even a man?” Beanie jumped up again; Sean Xuan was stunned—Beanie was no youngster, but still so wild.
Looking at the guards behind him, they seemed completely unfazed—it was clear Beanie had always been like this.
Sean Xuan truly felt sorry for Beanie’s men, but right now he had to worry about himself: "Admit what? I don’t even know what you’re talking about. When did I promise to help keep Rory here?"
Sean Xuan looked baffled, totally lost about what Beanie was saying. Beanie gave a smug, dismissive smile: "See, I told you you wouldn’t admit it. You really won’t admit it."
Beanie snorted proudly: "Sean Xuan, I look down on you."
Dorian Owen, back up your words—don’t throw wild accusations. If you keep spouting nonsense, I’ll cut you down." Sean Xuan was losing his temper; he had no idea what was happening and Beanie’s rant was making him dizzy. Even the calmest person would snap.
"Cut me down? What, you want to kill me to silence me?" Beanie craned his neck in challenge. Sean Xuan, unable to stand it, flicked his finger—a leaf sliced through the air and grazed Beanie’s neck...
Beanie jumped in fright, dodging as fast as he could—but it was already too late...
