Chapter 123: Blueprints

This time, Leon truly understood...

He understood not only why the Monty Family was working so hard, but also why Solan Monty had gone to the Azure Plane.

Leon remembered that the ring left behind by the mage from the Bone Plane was forged from Nether Mithril—a specialty of the Azure Plane. In other words, that mage must have spent quite some time there.

He might have even left some records in the Azure Plane...

Of course, those records were likely vague at best—probably just mentioning the existence of some strange place, without revealing that it was a Plane Path. Otherwise, Solan, being a ninth-level Archmage, would have come charging in long ago. A ninth-level Archmage! In all of Seaview City, aside from Salomon, who could possibly stand against him?

In fact, even that mage himself probably didn’t know it was a Plane Path.

Back then, the tragedy of the Crimson Spire had only happened a few centuries earlier. If a mage knew that was a Plane Path, you couldn’t pay him enough to step inside.

Thinking of this, Leon finally breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as no one knew it was a Plane Path, the pressure on Leon was much less.

But there was no way around it—a Plane Path, especially one leading to the Bone Plane, was an irresistible temptation for any power or any strong mage. For such a bountiful plane, all the top forces in Northend would go mad. Leon was only an Archmage; even if he possessed five Arcane Array Armors and could stand against an Archmage, he still couldn't keep the Plane Path in his hands. Unless Leon could obtain the Book of Death...

Fortunately, for now, no one knew that it was a Plane Path to the Bone Plane.

And Solan Monty had left him a full year...

A year would be enough time for Leon to obtain the Book of Death.

Having heard the good news brought by William Merlin, Leon was in such a good mood that even his cousin before him suddenly seemed much more agreeable.

"Thank you for the reminder, Cousin William."

"N-no, not at all... There's no need to thank me." William Merlin was so flattered he looked a bit flustered—after all, this was gratitude from a master!

"But, the Merlin Family's terms..."

"I understand, I understand..." William Merlin reacted quickly; seeing the look on Leon's face, he knew immediately that Leon was dissatisfied with the terms. He jumped up, his expression full of righteous indignation: "Those old fools on the family council have really lost their minds. Cousin, you mustn't stoop to their level. Wait a moment, I'll write them a letter right now—give them a good scolding and make them offer you a better deal!"

"My terms are simple." Leon watched William Merlin's passionate performance without much comment, his face calm as he stated his conditions: "Nether Iron ore, sold to the Merlin Family at market price, but paid in magic crystals. In addition, the Merlin Family will provide me with a batch of mages."
