Wanting a Child

12/2/2025

As soon as Cecilia spoke up, the other children chimed in as well, twittering around Lily Evans and promising to study hard.

Lily Evans looked at the group of children with relief. Although they had suffered the pain of losing their homes and families, these disasters had made them grow. Their minds were more mature and resilient than ordinary children, and they were better able to shoulder responsibility.

Lily Evans believed in these children. In the near future, they would no longer be pitiful, homeless orphans, but would grow into pillars of society.

"You’re all amazing! Now, let’s get ready for foreign language class. Are you all set?" Lily Evans clapped her hands and led the children into the classroom.

The children followed her in. Some of the younger ones couldn’t contain themselves, dancing with excitement. Cecilia patiently guided each little one to their seat.

Lily Evans watched their antics with a smile. Cecilia wasn’t the oldest, but she was the most steady. Though still a little girl, she’d already become the leader of the group—a natural born leader.

Clearing her throat, Lily Evans began the lesson.

The first lesson was simple: starting with the basics, recognizing letters.

At first, the children were totally confused—they’d never even heard of this before. But since they were young and hadn’t been taught much, they were quicker to accept new things than those set in their ways.

After class, Lily Evans had been teaching since morning and was now parched and exhausted.

Several children wanted to ask Lily Evans questions, but Cecilia stopped them.

Cecilia said, "Teacher has worked hard teaching us. Let’s let her rest. I’ve learned everything she just taught. If you have questions, ask me! Teacher will listen nearby, and if I say something wrong, she’ll correct me."

Lily Evans was curious about Cecilia’s abilities, so she didn’t intervene. Smiling, she sat at the teacher’s desk and watched the students gather around Cecilia with their questions.

To everyone’s surprise, Cecilia didn’t exaggerate—she remembered everything Lily Evans taught, and answered every question clearly.

After all the questions were answered, Cecilia walked up to Lily Evans and asked, "Teacher, did I explain everything correctly just now?"

Lily Evans patted Cecilia’s head. "You answered perfectly, so I just watched and didn’t need to correct you at all."

Cecilia’s face flushed with excitement. "So... does that mean I’m useful now, and I can help you, Teacher?"

Lily Evans nodded, seeing the pure hope in the child’s eyes. "That’s right, Cecilia, you just helped me a lot. I’m very proud of you."

The little girl’s face turned as red as an apple. She bowed deeply to Lily Evans. "Thank you for your hard work, Teacher. I won’t keep you from going home to rest."

With that, she bounced out of the classroom, her pigtails swinging happily.

Lily Evans watched the innocent, adorable children outside, then looked down and touched her own belly, truly wishing to have a clever, lovely child of her own.

Back at the Prince of Qin’s Manor, although she was exhausted, the thought of having a beautiful, adorable baby made Lily Evans perk up. After her bath, she cozied up to Alexander Hayes.

Alexander Hayes sat at the head of the bed, his long hair loose and damp, reading a book.
