Leo Liu stood in front of Capitalview First High's gate, sighed, and looked thoroughly depressed. That Ryan Ren at Peiying High isn’t even that impressive—he’s nowhere near Leo’s level—yet he somehow managed to take Lynn Chen away right in front of him. It was honestly kind of unbelievable.
"Feeling down, huh? See, she couldn’t care less about you." Ivy Liang gloated from the side.
"Yeah, got sniped. Nothing I can do—who knew a dark horse would pop up halfway through? But that Evan Lin, what’s his deal?" Leo asked Ivy curiously.
"He transferred here from Brightsea City, just like Lynn Chen. I think his family’s from some county town, but he’s done a lot of stuff..."
Before Ivy could finish, Leo was already shaking his head. "Forget it, a small fry like that isn’t worth talking about. Come on, let’s go eat."
Small fry?
Ivy Liang rolled her eyes at Leo’s words, too lazy to explain.
During evening class, Byron Yang handed out the math exam papers—a 150-point test, and the results for Class 12 were downright tragic.
Except for Evan Lin’s eye-popping perfect score of 150, second place only managed a 98.
Evan’s deskmate Jason Liu did pretty well, scoring 90—good enough for top five in the class. That actually surprised Evan.
"This test was really tough overall, so even if you didn’t do well, don’t get too discouraged. Just keep working hard," Byron Yang said from the podium, glancing around the room.
When his gaze landed on Evan Lin, sitting at the back looking totally unfazed, Byron felt a little awkward and quickly looked away, then started explaining the problems.
Byron Yang tried to explain each problem in detail from the podium, taking it slow. Meanwhile, students kept sneaking glances at Evan Lin.
"Evan, you’re really blowing up now! At lunch everyone was talking about you!" Jason Liu’s eyes sparkled—he was getting a bit of fame just by sitting next to Evan, when normally no one paid him any attention.
Especially after the girls found out Jason Liu was Evan Lin’s deskmate—they kept coming over to ask him for info.
As for Mason He and Liam Liu, the two who Evan called out by name at the Teacher–Student Assembly, their mood right now couldn’t be more frustrated.
Even if they wanted to get someone to teach Evan a lesson, they had to think about how it’d look to the school—if anything happened to Evan right now, the school definitely wouldn’t let them off easy.
After school, Lynn Chen was picked up by Ryan Ren and his family in their BMW.
When Lynn got home, Evan Lin still hadn’t come back. Lucy Lu was in the living room making a late-night snack when she saw Lynn looking unhappy. She asked, "Lynn, what’s wrong? Did something happen at school?"
"Also, did Evan come back with you?"
Lucy glanced behind Lynn, but didn’t see Evan Lin and paused, a little surprised.
"No, I don’t know where he went. I have no idea."
Lynn Chen shook her head, still fuming, and stomped upstairs.
"Kids these days..."
Lucy frowned, a bit annoyed but didn’t say anything.
Just then, Lucy’s phone started ringing.
"Hello? Evan, why aren’t you home yet? I made you a late-night snack—come back soon, or it won’t taste good when it’s cold."
"Huh? Why do you want to move out? Is it uncomfortable living here with Auntie Lu?"
Lucy was stunned when she heard Evan’s words on the phone, frowning. "How can you just decide to move out? And it’s so late—are you seriously looking for a place to stay right now? Just come home first, don’t be so impulsive. If your mom found out, she’d blame me for not taking good care of you."
Lucy pleaded with Evan for a long time, but in the end could only sigh, "If you need anything, just call me."
After hanging up, Lucy sat on the sofa in a daze, not even bothering with the late-night snack on the table.
Not long after, Charles Chen came home after a busy day. He looked cheerful, but when he saw Lucy sitting there, he paused, then smiled, "What’s wrong? You look upset—who made you mad?"
"By the way, has Evan come home yet? I was hoping to talk to him. Chairman Wang even called me today to ask about Evan! It’s wild—I bet his son keeps mentioning Evan so much that Chairman Wang finally remembered. Haha."
Charles chatted while changing his shoes, but as he glanced around, he sensed something felt off at home.
"Evan just called—he said he’s planning to move out."
Lucy sighed and spoke up.
Charles Chen’s smile froze, and he was stunned: "Move out? Why? Is it uncomfortable living here? If there’s anything wrong, he can just say so."
He hurried over to sit next to Lucy, looking nervous. "Is it because I didn’t do enough before, and Evan feels uncomfortable? Why didn’t you try to talk him out of it?"
"Lucy, can you talk to him? I admit, my attitude toward him before wasn’t great, but I’ve changed a lot. Now I realize Evan is way more impressive than other kids his age."
"Why does he have to move out?"
