Provoking Princess Mira

12/2/2025

The much-hyped Mystic Spice is finally about to go on sale.

Every seller in the Capital has prepared their silver, itching to try their luck. They want to buy some Mystic Spice to develop new dishes, hoping not to lose in this newly upgraded spice war. If they fail, their restaurant could be eliminated from the Capital, never to rise again.

All the famous restaurant owners understood: whoever failed to buy the Mystic Spice would be eliminated. So everyone was craning their necks, waiting anxiously.

This Mystic Spice was only sold in one shop in the Capital. The shop was previously unknown, its owner Mr. Zhang a newcomer with no reputation, hardly anyone had heard of it.

Yet this unremarkable shop had suddenly become the center of the city's attention.

On the morning of the auction, every owner brought their most trusted aides, waking up early and heading straight to the auction venue.

Princess Mira took the event seriously and planned to attend in person. She had Green Rose dress her up early.

But as Princess Mira stepped out of her palace, she saw Bella Bell, the chief manager of Eight Treasures Bistro, passing by the palace gates in a carriage with her staff.

As the gates opened, the two groups ran right into each other.

Bella Bell lifted the carriage curtain and looked Princess Mira up and down with disdain. "Isn't this the owner of Suxin Pavilion? Tsk tsk, you think you can attend the auction looking so shabby? Did you bring enough silver?"

Princess Mira was instantly provoked by a former maid like Bella Bell: "You wretched servant, how dare you speak to me like that! I am a princess of Chu, of course I brought enough silver!"

Princess Mira glared at Green Rose, who, frightened, quickly handed her the box she was holding.

Princess Mira opened the box, grabbed a thick stack of silver notes, and shouted: "Wretched servant, open your eyes and see what this is! These silver notes could buy your entire Eight Treasures Bistro!"

"Tsk, I wouldn’t be so sure," Bella Bell rolled her eyes, her disdain growing. She pointed to the carriages behind her: "Princess Mira, look, those boxes in the carriages are filled with gold."

Princess Mira saw that Bella Bell had five carriages behind her, each loaded with two large boxes.

The boxes seemed extremely heavy, leaving deep marks on the wheels. Each carriage needed two horses instead of one to pull all that gold.

"Princess Mira, see? One horse can’t even pull a carriage full of gold, it takes two. That little box of yours isn’t worth much at all, what a joke." Bella Bell covered her mouth, laughing exaggeratedly. "Our Princess Lily said those Mystic Spices are extremely expensive—only the rich can afford them. Princess Mira, your little stash couldn’t even buy a pouch of Mystic Spice. Don’t embarrass yourself at the auction."

Bella Bell finished, ignoring Princess Mira’s furious expression, and waved to her attendants: "Let’s keep moving. I think only our Princess Lily has the wealth to buy Mystic Spice in this whole Capital. No need for random nobodies to embarrass themselves trying to compete. You couldn’t win at love, you won’t win at spices either. Your restaurant is just a flash in the pan—without Mystic Spice, you’ll fade away and be laughed at."
