Evan Chu glanced at the people beside him and asked, "How soon can our full army reach the battlefield? How are the forces being distributed?"
"More than three million have already arrived at the battlefield, and the Immortal Beast army is over a million strong. We're just waiting on your order to strike the Demonic Realm army at any moment. The rest of our forces should reach the battlefield before this afternoon," Nolan Nangong replied.
"Good. Old brother, you and Sect Master Qin will command one million troops, the Golden Dragon King will personally lead another million, and Jade will handle the rest. This is going to be a brutal battle—make sure we drive the Demonic Realm army out of the Immortal Realm and let them see just how powerful our forces are.
I'll personally infiltrate the Demonic Realm army to assess their true strength and work out a detailed attack plan. Everyone, go get ready!" With those words, Evan vanished in a flash.
The others also flew off to personally command their armies. They all knew this was going to be a hard fight—no one would accept defeat. Each one of them was fired up and ready for war.
Evan Chu activated Light Transformation and teleported to hover above the Demonic Realm army. By now, the demonic forces had swelled to over two million, their ranks neat and orderly, every soldier clad in black armor and wielding a black longsword—a truly imposing sight.
That black armor must have serious defensive power—there's no way they'd all be wearing it otherwise. Seeing this scene, Evan was reminded of the war between the Heavenly Dragon Empire and the Sea Dragon Empire back in the day.
The Demonic Realm's troops looked extremely disciplined. For every ten thousand soldiers, there was at least one commander at Immortal Emperor level, with several sub-commanders helping manage the ranks—basically like thousand-man captains. Once fighting broke out, their coordination would be off the charts.
The Immortal Realm's army was organized similarly, but their commanders were a bit weaker. Most Demonic Realm soldiers were at least Golden Immortal level, slightly stronger than their Immortal Realm counterparts—and with that armor, it was worrying.
Evan wasn’t actually interested in the Demonic Realm soldiers themselves. He was here for two reasons: to gauge the enemy’s real situation and to see if Selena was hidden among them. With millions in the ranks, finding one person was going to be tough—he was mentally prepared for that.
Evan spread his vast divine sense, blanketing millions of soldiers at once. There was no way to check each person one by one, so he could only filter for Selena using certain traits—only by narrowing things down like this could he hope to find her.
Selena is a woman, and women naturally have a unique fragrance—hers is especially distinctive, given her beauty. Even if she was disguised as a soldier, she'd stand out, so Evan focused on searching for these clues.
After nearly an hour scanning the Demonic Realm army from above, Evan still hadn’t found a trace of Selena. Of course, he hadn’t checked every single one of the millions present, but he did notice something—among all the demonic soldiers he’d examined, there wasn’t a single woman.
That discovery was actually good news for Evan—it meant Selena probably wasn’t hiding among the rank-and-file. By now, the Demonic Realm army had gathered over five million troops, and their strength distribution was truly terrifying.
The front two million soldiers were only at Golden Immortal level—basically cannon fodder. The next two million were Da Luo Golden Immortals and Ninth-Heaven Arch-Immortals, making up the main force. The final million were at Immortal Lord level—these were the ones who’d really decide the outcome of the war.
Evan knew there must be entire armies of Immortal Emperors too—though in the Demonic Realm, they’d be called Demon Emperors. The ones up front were probably Demon Lords or Demon Generals.
On the Immortal side, the armies were also assembling quickly. The battlefield was vast—endless, really—and only a place this size could hold the full-scale war between the Immortal and Demonic Realms.
Just then, a magnificent golden palace appeared above the Demonic Realm army—a mobile fortress, clearly a powerful artifact or magic weapon. The palace was huge, almost certainly the command center of the Demonic Realm's supreme commander.
Hundreds of guards stood watch outside the palace, each one at least mid-stage Demon Emperor level. Just that force alone was far stronger than anything the Immortal Realm could muster—and the situation inside the palace was even more mysterious, probably even more terrifying.
Evan was confident in his Light Transformation. Before the battle started, he decided to sneak into the Demonic Realm’s main camp and see for himself who the supreme commander was and what realm they’d reached—only by knowing the enemy could he make proper plans.
Moving like a shadow, Evan slipped inside the palace without anyone noticing. The hall was spacious, packed with more than a hundred people—the weakest of whom were late-stage Demon Emperors. Several had even reached demigod level. Seated at the very top was a woman, her face hidden behind a veil.
The moment Evan saw her, his whole body jolted. This woman’s cultivation had reached god-man level—maybe even higher. If she was just god-man level, he wouldn’t be afraid, but what truly shocked him was her eyes. He knew those eyes—they looked exactly like Selena’s.
"Could the Demonic Realm’s commander really be Selena? How is that possible? Even if she ascended at record speed, it’s been less than a thousand years—there’s no way she could reach god-man level so fast. But those eyes are just too familiar—who is this woman really?" Evan wondered in shock.
"Commander, our Demonic Realm army is fully prepared. At your order, we can attack the Immortal Realm army at any time," said an elderly late-stage Demon Emperor.
"Commander, according to our scouts, the Immortal Realm’s army has merged with the Immortal Beast forces this time. Their combined strength is double what it was before—this battle won’t be easy," another elder warned.
The veiled woman nodded and asked, "I know all that. Who is the Immortal Realm’s commander? What’s their cultivation level—have you found out yet?"
Her voice rang out clear and sweet as silver bells, reaching Evan’s ears. He shuddered—this was Selena’s voice! He felt unsettled; how could Selena be the Demonic Realm’s commander? Had she been possessed after ascending?
If that was true, things would get complicated. Evan’s heart raced—he wanted to confront the commander right now and learn the truth, but he knew it wasn’t the right moment. He’d have to discuss everything with the others before making any moves.
"The Immortal Realm’s commander is Evan Chu, lord of the Azure Frost Palace. He’s supposedly late-stage Immortal Emperor, but he’s known for defeating stronger opponents. Commander, you must be careful—don’t underestimate him," a middle-aged man stepped forward to report.
Evan’s heart skipped a beat when he saw the man—it was none other than Zane Zuo, who had fled to the Demonic Realm...
