Primeval Abyss Gorge
They found an inn and settled in.
After slipping the innkeeper some extra Legacy Stones, they got the scoop: in these Primeval Demon Wilds, the place that scares everyone silly is called the Primeval Abyss Gorge.
“So what’s so scary about it?” Lucia Lu asked.
“Let’s start with the word ‘absolute.’ It means three things,” the innkeeper explained. “First, the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. Second, the spiritual energy is absolutely overflowing. Third, if you go in, you absolutely never come back.”
“Ha! Why can’t anyone come back?” Adrian Drake asked.
“No one really knows—because everyone who’s gone in, never made it out,” the innkeeper replied. “Some say there’s a terrifying great demon inside. Others claim the bottom leads straight to the Primeval Sanctuary, and anyone who enters gets struck dead by thunder. Still others insist there’s a deep pool at the bottom, home to some ancient Divine Race being.”
Lucia Lu perked up, curiosity piqued. “So, where exactly is this Primeval Abyss Gorge?”
The innkeeper pointed in a direction. “Just head for the tallest mountain you can see from the city. Once you reach the summit and look out, you’ll spot a distant spot where the clouds swirl in a vortex. That’s the Primeval Abyss Gorge.”
The group nodded, thanked the innkeeper, and followed his instructions to the letter.
When they reached the top of the tallest mountain and gazed into the distance, sure enough, there was a swirling cloud vortex.
They flew over and landed outside the vortex. Probing with Divine Sense, all they found was thick white mist—nothing visible at all.
“It’s a man-made Illusion Array,” Sean Shaw said. “Not a natural cloud vortex.”
“Can you break it?” Ryan Lu asked.
Sean Shaw shook his head.
“Anyone here know how?”
Everyone shook their heads.
“Should I just call Faustin?” Lucia Lu suggested.
Everyone nodded.
Lucia Lu called Faustin over again and asked him to help break the array.
Faustin studied it for a while and declared, “This array can’t be broken. But I might be able to get you inside.”
Faustin really was something else—so young, yet already the Sigil Sect’s young master.
He zigzagged through the blinding white vortex, and sure enough, managed to get them inside.
As the mist thinned, their view opened up.
This place was called a “gorge,”
And it truly was—a deep chasm, hundreds of meters wide, with strange flowers and herbs growing along both sides, and clouds swirling below like an immortal paradise.
Probing downward with Divine Sense, they couldn’t find the bottom.
And the deeper they went, the stronger the strange oppressive force became.
Faustin only leaned out to peek down, then stumbled back in fright, refusing to go any closer.
The five left Faustin at the top and descended themselves.
Along the cliffs—some steep, some gentle—exotic flowers and herbs grew, and powerful Spirit Beasts hid among the crags.
The ones near the top sensed the Divine Race aura and didn’t dare show themselves.
But the deeper they went, the bolder the beasts became.
Some peeked out, curious about the newcomers.
Others even called out a couple times, just to provoke them.
“This really is an excellent spot,” Adrian Drake said. “Those Legacy Stones were well spent.”
“Can we start hunting yet?” Ryan Lu asked.
“Let’s hold off,” Sean Shaw replied. “These ones are still too weak. They won’t earn us many points.”
So the group kept heading downward, exploring further.
The deeper they went, the heavier the invisible pressure became.
“What kind of pressure is this?” Lucia Lu frowned. “Feels almost like it’s coming from a Divine Artifact… but not quite…”
“Ugh… I’m about done,” Adrian Drake said, his breathing a little shaky.
Sean Shaw stopped and looked at Ryan Lu, Luna Lian, and Adrian Drake, seeing they were all struggling. “You three hunt Spirit Beasts here. I’ll go further down and check things out.”
They really couldn’t go any deeper; if they forced themselves, a fierce beast attack might be more than they could handle.
