The Peculiar Master Xu

Nolan was the child taken from Mona Shangguan's womb. Since his parents were too lazy to give him a proper name, he was simply called Nolan.

Nolan's health had always been poor, and he had recently fallen ill again. When Ethan Gu was making medicine for him, he happened to be missing an ingredient—Celestial Aroma. Seeing Maxwell Jing frown all day and Nolan looking so sickly, Ethan couldn't bear it. Coincidentally, news about Celestial Aroma surfaced, so he decided to attend the matchmaking event.

Ethan Gu sat down as well, let out a cold snort, and said to Maxwell Jing, "We'll settle this when we get back!"

Maxwell Jing, hearing this, retorted angrily, "Ethan Gu, don't think I'm really afraid of you!"

Ethan Gu ignored him, leaving Maxwell Jing so frustrated he couldn't even vent his anger.

The second round was still to write a prescription, but it was much harder than before. Maxwell Jing picked up the brush, but before he could dip it in ink, Ethan Gu snatched it away. "Let me do it!" he declared.

"No way!" Maxwell Jing snatched it back, his face full of displeasure.

Ethan Gu's lips curled into a smile. Maxwell Jing let out a cold snort, raised his brush, and quickly began writing as he said, "There's no such thing as switching players midway."

Roxy Shangguan nibbled on candied fruit and commented, "Uncle Jing is jealous!"

Quentin Hua chimed in, "Mm, soon it'll be someone else's turn to be jealous!"

At those words, the trace of a smile vanished from Gu Yihan’s face, replaced by a somber expression. With Jing Moke’s skills, winning the marriage tournament wouldn’t be difficult—and the prize would be far more than just Celestial Aroma.

Only now did he snap out of it—why had he stayed behind? Glancing at Jing Moke, who was smiling as he handed over the prescription, Gu Yihan narrowed his eyes. More and more, he realized he was being led around by Jing Moke, whether intentionally or not. That was hardly a good sign!

Watching Gu Yihan's face darken, Roxy Shangguan flashed a sly grin and winked playfully at Hua Qianyu.

You can't blame her for being ruthless—after all, Uncle Jing actually used Huahua's name to enter the competition. If he wins and runs off, Master Xu will fixate on Huahua, and who knows what kind of trouble that will bring.

Anyway, just as Uncle Jing said, Uncle Gu would never truly poison him to death. At most, it would be a little punishment—a lesson. So she didn’t need to hold back at all!

Hua Wu and Du Qiyue stood quietly to the side. Although Ren Xiaoyao and Ning Tianyi had been eliminated, they still hadn’t left. For some reason, Master Xu hadn’t asked anyone to drive them away, even though no one else had a single extra person beside them. In this kind of setting, bystanders were strictly forbidden from approaching for fear of cheating, yet Hua Qianyu’s group crowded together as soon as they arrived—and Master Xu didn’t say a word. It was truly strange!

Even when Jing Moke suddenly showed up earlier, and then Gu Yihan appeared out of nowhere, Master Xu never questioned it. He ignored all the dissatisfied voices around them, even pretending not to hear. In fact, two people who caused a commotion in the distance were immediately kicked out and disqualified from the tournament. It was all so strange.

Roxy Shangguan and Hua Qianyu took it all in. They both sensed that, whatever the real purpose of this marriage tournament was, their group was the true target.

Maybe it was for Ning Tianyi, maybe for Ren Xiaoyao, or maybe for Hua Qianyu. For now, it was impossible to tell—they could only wait and see.

Gu Yihan wanted Hua Qianyu’s help, and Hua Qianyu didn’t mind lending a hand. But when the time came, who would really be helping whom?
