Ivy Liang stood in front of Evan Lin for a long time, saying nothing, just staring at him in a daze.
Henry Wang carried his lesson materials, chin raised in a show of arrogance, and strutted past.
Honestly, it’d be embarrassing to admit.
He was the dignified head of Capitalview First High’s math department, but just seeing a student made his heart skip a beat.
He was afraid of saying the wrong thing and getting beaten up by Evan Lin in front of everyone.
Students started trickling out of Experimental Class 2.
Most of the guys admired Ivy Liang; most of the girls snuck extra glances at Evan Lin. Everyone knew their role.
“About what happened with Leo Liu that day... I owe you an apology.”
Ivy Liang hesitated for a moment, but finally spoke up.
“No need.”
Those three words from Evan Lin blocked everything else she wanted to say, leaving her speechless.
He really meant it—there was no need.
As long as Leo Liu didn’t come looking for trouble, Evan Lin had zero interest in bothering with him.
“Looks like you’ve been having a pretty good time lately.”
Lynn Chen walked out of Experimental Class 2, cheeks puffed out, eyes darting away as she pretended not to care.
She’d thought about just leaving, but couldn’t bring herself to go.
Seeing Ivy Liang standing there, Lynn Chen couldn’t help but size her up.
Her legs weren’t as long as Ivy Liang’s, but Lynn Chen figured her own chest could compete—so she made a point of puffing it out with pride as she spoke.
“I’m heading out.”
Ivy Liang gave Evan Lin one last look, heard Lynn Chen’s voice behind her, and left without lingering.
“Not bad.”
Evan Lin looked at Lynn Chen and nodded.
When Lynn Chen saw Ivy Liang leave and Evan Lin still standing there, she blurted out, “Hey, she’s gone—aren’t you going after her?”
“She’s already gone. If you don’t catch up now, you’ll miss your chance.”
Lynn Chen kept up her tough act, but inside she felt a pang of jealousy.
“I’m here for you. I wanted to ask when you’re free.”
Evan Lin didn’t waste words.
The moment he said that, Lynn Chen’s heart started racing. She was totally caught off guard.
“You’re looking for me? What’s up?”
Lynn Chen gazed at Evan Lin.
Hearing those words made Lynn Chen feel all kinds of complicated.
A few students nearby slowed their steps, pretending not to watch but listening intently.
Lynn Chen’s eyes sparkled with excitement, but she tried hard to act like she didn’t care. “The college entrance exam is coming up. Unless it’s something really important, I probably don’t have time—I still have tons of homework left.”
Lynn Chen replied automatically, but regretted it as soon as the words left her mouth.
It was a reflex she’d picked up over the years, but today was different. Lynn Chen worried that one careless remark might drive Evan Lin away.
“It’s nothing special. Just wanted to know when you’re free—my two roommates want to have a meal with you.”
Evan Lin explained as they walked.
Lynn Chen followed beside him, head down.
A few steps behind, Eric Yu was still trailing Lynn Chen, too scared of Evan Lin to come any closer. He looked nervous and pitiful.
“Your two roommates...”
