Path of Destruction 16

With a whoosh and the sound of grating friction, Lily Mao raised her staff. She wanted to deflect the enemy's spear, but couldn't—she could only let the spear scrape along her staff and sweep toward her.

Bang! As the enemy's spear closed in, Lily Mao pushed with her staff, stumbled, and nearly fell off her horse. Clinging tightly to the reins, her horse neighed wildly. She straightened up and immediately swung her staff at Bella Liang.

"Report to Commander Bella Liang: General Henry Lien has fallen. The center has collapsed."

A messenger rushed over, shouting. Bella Liang's eyes widened as she looked back, mouth agape in disbelief.

A few minutes earlier, on the central front, Henry Lien rode toward Yuna Ji and her group, who were still fighting. His target was clear: Yuna Ji.

Terry Mao shouted, but Yuna Ji stared coldly at the distant enemies. Her body was already beyond its limits, yet the relentless surge of fighting spirit inside her drove her to slowly approach the enemy.

Staring at Yuna Ji directly ahead, Henry Lien immediately ordered the infantry to step aside. The cavalry, already prepared, charged forward.

Once again, Yuna Ji charged into the enemy ranks. Her spear strikes were no longer as fierce as before, but her movements resembled a dance. Every move was gentle and swift; she dodged the enemy quickly and stabbed her emerald-green spear into their chest, then withdrew and repeated the process with several steps.

In a flash, as Henry Lien swept past Lucille Xing, he swung his spear, aiming for the back of Yuna Ji's neck.

Bang! Amid the horses' screams, a group of fast riders leapt forward. Henry Lien stared in disbelief at the white-haired general before him, face twisted with anger. His spear was parried, but the force carried through, piercing the enemy's side. At the same time, the enemy's spear thrust toward his throat.

For an instant, Henry Lien's mind went blank as his vision slowly faded backward.

"Are you Henry Lien? Come here."

"Hehe, more fighting, endless fighting. I can still get stronger."

Suddenly facing attacks from two enemies, Yuna Ji deftly turned her body. Two bone blades slashed at her, but she hunched and struck the enemy behind her in the neck with her spear's shaft. Then, with a quick step forward, she stabbed the spear tip into the enemy's lower abdomen, pulled it out, spun around, and thrust again. Her gaze never left the enemy before her.

It was fear—bottomless fear. The terror in the enemy's eyes only made Yuna Ji's fighting spirit soar higher. She roared and swung her spear, her body seemingly inexhaustible. Every thrust was met with the enemy's whimpers and spurting blood.

Lucille Xing caught up again. After a brief rest, she climbed to her feet. The Yuna Ji before her was someone she'd never seen—the once gentle, always cheerful Yuna Ji was now a completely different person.

When had it started? Luxing didn't know. Her gaze was deeply drawn to Yuna Ji. The death of Ji La had hit her hard; she never forgot it, but lately that pain had faded. The war outside the left pass last year felt like a lifetime ago.

Bella Liang's nerves were taut. The woman before her grew fiercer with every fight. Her advancing troops had been contained, unable to push forward. The enemy seemed insane, launching wave after wave of frenzied attacks.

Lily Mao wiped blood from the corner of her eye, gasping for breath as she stared at Bella Liang. She had done all she could, but was still no match for the enemy—her body bore new wounds.

The horns for charge sounded again and again as the Wynn Domain army continued their assault. Bella Liang stared at Lily Mao, then suddenly whipped her horse into a run. She had only one thought: this time, she had to finish it.

Jiang Tianci was trembling all over. He had already seen Yuna Ji, but what he witnessed was unbearably cruel. His heart was filled with sorrow.

With a roar, Jiang Tianci swept his spear to clear the enemies blocking his path. He charged on horseback toward Yuna Ji. In his eyes, Yuna Ji was not the tribe's leader, but just a sixteen-year-old girl—the same girl who used to be happy every day.

Lian Huo observed quietly, continually directing nearby soldiers to resist the cavalry from Jiangdi. The battle had stabilized; the northern cavalry from Jiangdi and the southern cavalry from Jidi had been mostly wiped out. Due to the terrain, even on this plain, the cavalry couldn't play a decisive role.

The frontline advance was showing results; the enemy forces were being thoroughly suppressed. Now, he just needed to wait for the enemy cavalry to be whittled away, and then kill the enemy leader.

Qiao Yusheng and Yu Huang, now surrounded by enemy infantry, fought fiercely with the few cavalry left at their side. The enemy numbers were overwhelming, with waves of foes pressing forward. This was nothing like previous battles—they couldn't command the soldiers freely, and their voices couldn't reach them. By the time orders arrived, the soldiers had already fallen.

"What's wrong, Yusheng? If you can't hold on, let's retreat for now."

Yu Huang called out, deflecting an enemy attack with her longsword. The nearby cavalry immediately pierced the enemy's body with their spears.

Qiao Yusheng looked around, panting. The situation was dire—the enemy's fighting power was far greater than expected, and their soldiers were better trained than those from Jidi.

Now, Qiao Yusheng finally understood why the enemy commander dared to bet everything on the most critical part of the war. Despite the long march and supply issues—enemy rations likely couldn't last five days—they recklessly pushed their main force onto the plain.

"Don't falter—keep charging!"

Qiao Yusheng shouted. He knew that in this brutal, head-on battlefield, even the slightest hesitation meant certain defeat. He didn't want to lose—no matter what, he refused to lose this war.

From the left came waves of screams—it was Zhao Peng, charging back into the fray. Alone in the enemy ranks, even he was starting to struggle, and soon retreated again.

"There are probably fewer than five thousand cavalry left. What do we do, Yusheng? It's not even noon and we've already lost more than half."

Faced with such grim numbers, Qiao Yusheng was hesitant and conflicted, but retreat was no longer an option—they had no say in the matter.

"Zhao Peng, go rally the cavalry in the rear. Gather as many as you can. Yu Huang and I will lead the cavalry here forward."

Zhao Peng immediately understood and rode off to rally the rear cavalry.

Liang Bing's nerves were taut. The woman before him grew fiercer with every fight. His advancing troops had been contained, unable to push forward. The enemy seemed insane, launching wave after wave of frenzied attacks.

Mao Li wiped blood from the corner of her eye, gasping for breath as she stared at Liang Bing. She had done all she could, but was still no match for the enemy—her body bore new wounds.

The horns for charge sounded again and again as the Yingdi army continued their assault. Liang Bing stared at Mao Li, then suddenly whipped his horse into a run. He had only one thought: this time, he had to finish it.

With a whoosh and the sound of grating friction, Mao Li raised her staff. She wanted to deflect the enemy's spear, but couldn't—she could only let the spear scrape along her staff and sweep toward her.

Bang! As the enemy's spear closed in, Mao Li pushed with her staff, stumbled, and nearly fell off her horse. Clinging tightly to the reins, her horse neighed wildly. She straightened up and immediately swung her staff at Liang Bing.

"Report to Commander Liang Bing: General Lian Huo has fallen. The center has collapsed."

A messenger rushed over, shouting. Liang Bing's eyes widened as he looked back, mouth agape in disbelief.

A few minutes earlier, on the central front, Lian Huo rode toward Yuna Ji and her group, who were still fighting. His target was clear: Yuna Ji.

No matter how strong the enemy was, they could not advance any further. They were exhausted—now was the best opportunity.

Staring at Yuna Ji directly ahead, Lian Huo immediately ordered the infantry to step aside. The cavalry, already prepared, charged forward.

"Got her."

In a flash, as Lian Huo swept past Luxing, he swung his spear, aiming for the back of Yuna Ji's neck.

Bang! Amid the horses' screams, a group of fast riders leapt forward. Lian Huo stared in disbelief at the white-haired general before him, face twisted with anger. His spear was parried, but the force carried through, piercing the enemy's side. At the same time, the enemy's spear thrust toward his throat.

For an instant, Lian Huo's mind went blank as his vision slowly faded backward.

"Are you Lian Huo? Come here."

In a haze, a woman's gentle voice and a fair hand beckoned him.
