Evan Chu slowly extended his god-sense from beneath the yellow sand, secretly observing Faye Knox’s every move, taking extreme care not to be noticed. After all, Faye was a Ninth-Layer Saint Martial Realm powerhouse, with formidable perception.
If he were discovered, he really wouldn’t know how to face her. Just now, she had even tested him, giving him a real scare—clearly, she was extremely cautious.
Evan felt like a guilty thief, his god-sense only able to watch from afar through the yellow sand. Peeking this way was worlds apart from seeing with his own eyes—even if he could glimpse her body, the sensation was nothing compared to direct sight.
Soon, Faye was completely undressed—the beautiful figure Evan had seen by the riverside appeared before him once again. He couldn’t help but swallow hard; she really was a stunner. If only he’d broken through to Saint Martial Realm, he’d honestly want to take her right here and now.
Evan thought wickedly to himself, unaware that Luna the sword spirit was absolutely furious. She’d tolerated the riverside incident as an accident, but this time he was doing it deliberately—and even fantasizing about taking Faye on the spot. That crossed the line.
A sharp pain instantly shot through Evan’s mind. He winced and his god-sense snapped back. At that moment, Faye seemed to sense something and immediately turned to look toward the patch of yellow sand where Evan was hiding.
Enduring the pain, Evan quickly fled through the sand. Once he’d put enough distance between them, he surfaced and used instant-movement to return to his original visible position, his heart pounding wildly.
“Luna, you almost got me caught! How could you do that?” Evan complained, thoroughly frustrated.
“I did it on purpose. Serves you right for your behavior. If you dare do this again, you’re as good as dead,” Luna snapped, her voice icy with rage.
Cold sweat broke out on Evan’s back. When this woman got jealous, there was nothing she wouldn’t do. He really couldn’t let himself think like that again. In truth, Evan didn’t even know why his urge to watch Faye change clothes was so strong—he’d never done anything like this before.
But this time, he couldn’t control it—like some invisible force was pulling the strings, and he found it a little strange.
Just then, Faye returned. Seeing Evan still standing there, she looked suspicious. "You didn’t leave?"
Her words made it clear she was starting to suspect Evan. When he’d left, his god-sense had fluctuated violently thanks to Luna, and with Faye’s powerful perception she’d naturally noticed. But she didn’t have proof—and had forgotten Evan could hide in the sand.
"Of course I’m here. You think I’d still go peep at you? Don’t forget I already got quite the eyeful at the river—why would I need to look again? Are you underestimating me, or just picking a fight?" Evan replied seriously, his lie flawless.
Faye wanted to get angry, but seeing Evan’s serious expression, she held back. Maybe she was just being too cautious and seeing things.
"Alright, let’s get out of here. Since we weren’t teleported out, we’ll have to rely on ourselves. Here’s to a happy partnership!" Evan said with a smile.
Faye shot Evan a glare, then quickly flew into the sky. The two flew one after the other, both still shaken by the destruction the lightning had caused. The power of heaven and earth was truly beyond human comparison.
After flying for a while, Faye suddenly stopped, turned to Evan, and said, "Little thief, didn’t you say everyone else was teleported away? Why are there still people here?"
Evan was stunned. So there were still many people in the Land of the Undead. He was baffled by their presence. He and Faye hadn’t been teleported out because of the lightning; he remembered Luna saying the area struck by lightning would be shielded. Yet they hadn’t encountered any barrier as they flew.
Seeing these people gave him hope, so he immediately asked Faye, "Is time here much slower than outside? Otherwise, we should’ve left long ago."
"The Land of the Undead is a special place—ten days here equals at most one day outside. When you said everyone had already left, I was confused; I thought maybe I’d been knocked out by the lightning for a long time. Turns out only half a month passed. You really leave people speechless!" Faye said.
Evan laughed awkwardly and said, "Maybe I got it wrong. What’s your plan now? Should we team up to kill these Ghost Clan people and monsters, or split up and act alone?"
Evan’s question was a bit silly—even if Faye wanted to team up, she couldn’t just agree. A girl has her pride. "I’m not going with you. Who knows what you’re really thinking? I’d have to watch out for you all the time. Let’s split up and see who gets more wooden tokens."
Evan grinned, "You said it. How about a bet? Whoever gets more tokens and Phantasite, the loser has to grant the winner one request. I bet you’re not afraid to gamble with me, right?"
Faye hadn’t expected Evan to propose that, but her pride kicked in. "You said it, so don’t go back on your word. Or you’ll be in for it."
Evan actually wanted to ask Faye why she came to the Ghost Clan, but he knew she wouldn’t say. His words had a purpose—he did want to be with Faye, but as a Pure Yang man, spending too much time together might lead to impulsive mistakes.
If they became close and acted on impulse, her Nether Yin Constitution would be wasted. If he broke through to Saint Martial Realm, he wouldn’t say this—but for now, sending her away was a way to find a place to break through. Now that he knew there was plenty of time, improving his strength was most important.
"Of course not. I’m more worried you’ll back out—women change their minds all the time. But I trust you’re not that type," Evan said with a laugh.
"Let’s join forces to kill these Ghost Clan people, then go our separate ways. Hopefully I won’t run into you again during this time!" Faye said.
"You’re afraid that if you see me again, you won’t want to leave, right? Don’t worry—you’ll be my woman one day." Evan said, not caring what Faye thought, and flashed down in front of the Ghost Clan cultivators.
Faye felt a strange mix of disappointment and sweetness in her heart, and quickly followed after. The sudden appearance of these two shocked the Ghost Clan participants in the competition, especially since neither of them carried any ghost-qi...
