Lily Evans felt relieved and sent word to her uncle’s family, assuring them that Wang Yaya was doing well at Uncle Arthur’s house. She told them not to hesitate to ask if they needed anything—Lily would arrange for supplies to be delivered to the plantation.
Belle covered her mouth and giggled, “I think Uncle’s family is brimming with energy!”
“How are preparations going for the fleet?” Lily Evans asked.
“Almost everything is ready. Most of the cargo is loaded, and the last batch will arrive the day after tomorrow. The children selected from the villa are all set for departure—their daily necessities and everything they’ll need over there have been taken care of,” Belle replied. “This time, one of the foreign language teachers Edward recommended is actually from France. He’s already been telling the kids about French customs and culture. I’m sure they’ll settle in quickly once they arrive.”
“Good, make sure the kids have plenty of funds for their trip. They’re going there to study, so let’s give them the best conditions possible,” Lily Evans reminded.
“Of course, Princess Consort. Everything has been done exactly as you instructed,” Belle confirmed.
Time flew by, and soon it was the day for the fleet to set sail.
On departure day, Lily Evans personally went to the docks to see everyone off.
Aunt Charlotte brought Leonard Yuan along to travel with the fleet back to Jiangnan. Leonard, who had been standing dutifully by his mother’s side, spotted Lily Evans and dashed over, calling, “Lily!”
“Leonard!” Lily Evans smiled broadly at him. The boy had grown into a strapping young lad, now as tall as she was. She figured that by the time he returned from his exams, he’d probably be taller than her.
Lily Evans listened and felt relieved. She sent a message to Mrs. Charlotte Evans’s family, assuring them that Emily 'Yaya' Wang was doing well at Uncle Arthur’s house, and if they needed anything, just say the word—she’d make sure it was delivered to the plantation.
Belle covered her mouth and laughed. “Looks like Mrs. Charlotte Evans’s family is bursting with energy these days!”
“How are the fleet preparations going?” Lily Evans asked.
Belle replied, “Almost done. Most of the goods are loaded onto the ships, and the last batch will arrive the day after tomorrow. The children chosen from the villa are ready to depart, and all their daily necessities and travel arrangements are set. Among the foreign language teachers Edward recommended, there’s a gentleman from France. He’s already been telling the children about French customs and traditions, so I’m sure they’ll adapt quickly once they arrive.”
“Good, make sure the children have plenty of funds for when they get there. They’re going to study, so let’s give them the best conditions possible,” Lily Evans reminded.
“Yes, Princess Consort, everything is arranged according to your instructions,” Belle replied.
Time flew by, and soon enough, it was the day for the fleet to set sail.
On departure day, Lily Evans personally went to the docks to see them off.
Mrs. Charlotte Evans and Leonard Yuan joined the fleet, heading back to Jiangnan. Leonard had been standing beside his mother, but the moment he saw Lily Evans, he dashed over. “Sister Lily!”
“Leonard!” Lily Evans smiled at him. He’d grown into a tall young man, nearly as tall as she was. She guessed that after he finished his exams and came back, he’d be even taller than her.
“Sister Lily, wait for my good news! This year, I’ll definitely pass the scholar’s exam! Three years from now, I’ll go for the provincial exam!” Leonard Yuan announced, brimming with youthful ambition.
Lily Evans looked at Leonard, bursting out in proud laughter. “Alright, Leonard, your big sister will count on you to have her back in the future!”
“Don’t worry, Sis! You can rely on me!” Leonard said, thumping his chest with confidence.
