An Angry Beast King
"What the—! It's three hundred miles from Gui Gorge to here. How did he manage to follow us?" Samuel Summers stared wide-eyed.
Maya Summers walked over and asked the old man, "Sir, how did you get here?"
"Maya, my good daughter!" the old man cried. "Dad finally found you!"
Maya Summers sighed, suddenly pulling Grace aside and whispering, "Grace, I think there's something wrong with his mind. Can you help me give him some acupuncture or something? Maybe cure him?"
"Auntie, I checked his pulse. There's nothing wrong with his mind, and he's perfectly healthy!" Grace replied. "He's probably just a shameless old man. Let's just ignore him!"
"Oh..." Maya Summers frowned and glanced at the old man. "Then let's just ignore him and leave!"
So the three of them hurried away, quickly shaking off the old man and returning to the inn.
But the next morning, when they stepped out, they saw the old man squatting by the wall outside the inn.
How did he manage to keep up with them?
Did he have a flying beast or something?
Their next stop was five hundred miles away.
As they flew along, they kept glancing back.
There was no sign of anyone following them in the sky.
But to their utter dismay, before long, the old man managed to catch up again.
It looked like he was determined to stick to Maya Summers no matter what.
The three of them were speechless. With him tagging along, even sightseeing lost its charm, so they just wandered a bit and then headed straight back to Yan City.
Yan City was two thousand miles from where they'd been. Surely the old man wouldn't be able to follow them this time, right?
Besides, even if he did make it to Yan City, he wouldn't know they were staying at Loyalty Manor, would he?
But the very next day after they returned, Grace went out early to the Spirit Alliance and found him squatting by the wall outside their manor.
As soon as he saw Grace, he quickly stood up and asked, "Girl, where's Maya?"
Grace rubbed her forehead.
This old man—her aunt really couldn't shake him off.
She simply called Maya Summers out.
This time, Maya was really annoyed. She asked, "Sir, are you just going to cling to me forever?"
"Maya, my good daughter, don't leave me all alone!" The old man stood there shivering, tears streaming down his face, looking pitiful.
Maya Summers sighed and just brought the old man inside, asking the butler to find him a chore he could handle.
But then the butler came back to report that the old man couldn't do anything at all...
Maya had no choice but to let him stay in her own garden and put him in charge of sweeping the courtyard.
Turns out, he actually could do that—he swept diligently and kept the courtyard spotless.
And every time he saw Maya, he called her "daughter"...
...
She'd been away for several days, and work at the Spirit Alliance had piled up.
She worked all day, exhausted like a dog, and when she got home she collapsed straight into bed.
As she drifted off, she thought to herself, 'Nothing beats being at home!'
Suddenly, she was yanked upright by someone.
Groggy and half-asleep, Grace opened her eyes. When she saw who was in front of her, she was instantly wide awake, eyes wide in shock.
The Beast King was here...
And he was an angry Beast King.
"Grace Zhu!" The Beast King's eyes were bloodshot, like he hadn't slept in days. "Where have you been?"
"Uh... I..." Grace shrank back, forgetting all the excuses she'd prepared.
Those two big beasts had completely overwhelmed her.
Her subconscious kept telling her that Evan Xiao was a beast too.
"Speak!" Evan Xiao suddenly slammed something down on the table with a loud "bang!"
