An Old Friend from the Wormhole Gate

King Leto clearly paid no attention to the cultivators who had just been discussing him. He quickly entered an Elixir Chamber.

Thinking about how he had just arrived in the Dao Domain and already offended several top experts, Joe Di couldn't help but feel helpless. Zach You and Jaden Dai were one thing—those two probably didn't know who he was. But that Xavier White, even though he had saved that bastard, he had also made an enemy of him.

For now, it didn't matter whether Voidmount belonged to the Xavier White family or not. As long as Xavier White knew he had taken Voidmount, he wouldn't let him off. Xavier White had left a drop of Xu Clan Blood Essence on him; as long as he didn't hand it over, that arrogant fellow would have no idea he had already arrived in the Dao Domain.

But that Zach You—River Mountain Vessel belonged to that bastard. Yet, to the Four Immortal Continents, River Mountain Vessel was like the Moon Ruins. Many cultivators trained at the Moon Ruins. If Zach You one day found the Moon Ruins and learned about the disappearance of the Sacred Yin Pearl and Zhong Ao, would he vent his anger on the Four Immortal Continents?

No matter what, he needed to improve his cultivation first. If he didn't reach the Second Step, he couldn't go looking for Zach You.

Just as Joe Di was about to turn and leave, a somewhat hesitant voice called out, "Zi Mo..."

Joe Di was startled—who knew him by the name Zi Mo? He turned around and saw a familiar face. Quickly clasping his fists, he said, "Evan Kan, you've left the Wormhole Gate?"

The young man in front of him, with a dark face and no beard, was none other than Evan Kan, whom he had met in the Wormhole Gate guard zone. Back then, Joe Di was so fierce in killing insects that Evan Kan, being closest to him, had proactively befriended him.

Joe Di wasn't surprised by how Evan Kan left the Wormhole Gate, but by how he had left Leapgate City. After all, the only reason Joe Di had managed to leave Leapgate City was because he possessed half a Dao vein.

"It's really you, Zi Mo!" Evan Kan was even more delighted. "I knew you'd be fine, and I was right."

Joe Di pulled Evan Kan aside. "This isn't a place to linger. Let's find somewhere else to talk."

An hour later, Joe Di had already found a cave dwelling in a rest building on the edge of the Dan River Plaza.

"Evan Kan, how did you manage to get here?" Joe Di's first question was full of curiosity; he wondered how anyone could easily leave Leapgate City.

Even now, Joe Di still couldn't quite understand why Leapgate City was used to keep some ascended cultivators confined. In Joe Di's view, the truly powerful cultivators of the Dao Domain weren't native, but rather ascenders like them. Every ascended cultivator had fought their way out from billions of others—none were anything less than geniuses.

Cultivators in the Dao Domain began cultivating with divine spiritual energy and divine crystals from a young age, and the laws of heaven and earth here far surpassed those of the cultivation and immortal realms, making it perfect for comprehending the Dao. Before reaching the Dao Shaping stage, advancing was as easy as breathing or eating. This kind of cultivation was simple, but in terms of strength and temperament, they were certainly no match for ascended cultivators.

Evan Kan sighed, "I was lucky. I killed an ordinary insect, and to my surprise, found an egg of the Eyeless Void Insect in its belly..."

As he spoke, Evan Kan's voice grew excited. "That kind of egg is a priceless treasure! Not only did I gain the opportunity to enter Leapgate City, I can also leave whenever I wish."

"Congratulations, Evan Kan!" Joe Di couldn't help but admire Evan Kan's good fortune.

"Zi Mo, I heard you left Leapgate City through a Dao vein?" Evan Kan respected Joe Di even more; he knew Joe Di's story well. As soon as Joe Di left, people came to investigate, even turning over the Slaughter Dao Lake.

Anyone who stayed at the Slaughter Dao Lake was doomed, but Joe Di wasn't affected at all. Not only that, he managed to enter Leapgate City after just one year by ranking first on the Wormhole Contribution Board.

No matter how powerful someone was, they'd still be trapped in the Leap Dao Gate Divine City. Yet this Zi Mo hadn't even stayed a day before leaving again.

What did it mean to be strong? This was true strength. He'd heard that Di Jiu not only left by himself, but also took Zhuo Wu's family with him. At the time, he regretted befriending Di Jiu too late and not reaching out sooner. If he had, maybe Di Jiu would've taken him along too. Luckily, his own luck wasn't bad; after a few years, he still managed to leave the wormhole guard zone.

Di Jiu clasped his fists and said, "Kan, my name is now Di Jiu. I've joined the Outer Sect of the Yan Yi Dao Sect. I wanted to ask you, after I left, who came to investigate me?"

Hearing that Di Jiu had joined the Yan Yi Dao Sect, Kan Yiwei admired him even more. He had no intention of helping Ni Xi Ren or Sha Wushang cover anything up, and he openly told Di Jiu about Sha Wushang and Ni Xi Ren's search for him.

Now Di Jiu understood completely. No wonder he thought Sha Wushang was connected to that seven-horned Dao seed—it was true. Fortunately, he had decisively left Cold Moon Sacred Dao City; if he had stayed for the auction, or continued living there, he might have ended up dead at Sha Wushang's hands.

"Thank you, Kan." Di Jiu sincerely thanked Kan Yiwei; at least now he understood how dangerous his situation was.

It looked like he couldn't go out. This place was hosting the Dan River Tournament, and if Ni Xi Ren or Sha Wushang showed up and saw him, he'd be in trouble.

"Di, I've always admired and respected you. These things just happened to be things I knew—it's really nothing." Kan Yiwei said quickly.

Di Jiu pondered for a moment and said, "Kan, I'm now an Outer Sect disciple of the Yan Yi Dao Sect. If you want to join, I might be able to help. Even if you can't get into the Inner Sect, becoming an Outer Sect disciple should be doable."

"Ah..." Kan Yiwei looked at Di Jiu, excitement written all over his face. He was stunned by Di Jiu's offer, but quickly recovered and stood up, clasping his fists. "Thank you, Di! If I could join the Yan Yi Dao Sect, that would be..."

After entering the Dao Domain, he could only become a rogue cultivator. To become a disciple of a top sect, he'd have to wait for their recruitment and testing. Since he managed to ascend to the Dao Domain, his aptitude was naturally good.

But the universe is vast, and there are plenty of talented people. Even joining the Outer Sect of the Yan Yi Dao Sect would be tough competition. Besides, who knew when the Yan Yi Dao Sect would recruit disciples again?

Some might say it’s the same to join a smaller sect, but that’s not true. The reason the Five Great Sects of the Dao Domain stand above the rest is their superior inheritance.

Once you join the Yan Yi Dao Sect, you could gain an inheritance stronger than any other sect, which would be invaluable for your future Dao journey.

Being an Outer Sect disciple doesn’t matter; as long as you work hard, you’ll become an Inner Sect disciple sooner or later.

......

After his conversation with Di Jiu, Kan Yiwei left feeling very satisfied. Di Jiu wasn’t surprised to see Kan here; the Dan River Tournament was a big event in the Dao Domain. Kan must have come to broaden his horizons and seek opportunities.

Seeing that Kan Yiwei could obtain the Eyeless Void Insect and come straight to the Dao Domain, Di Jiu knew Kan was someone with good fortune.

As for whether Kan could join the Outer Sect of the Yan Yi Dao Sect, Di Jiu wasn’t worried. He had plenty of Diezhan Grass; he’d just give Kan some. Not too much, though—an Outer Sect disciple only needed ten stalks, which shouldn’t attract attention.

Two days passed in a flash. Just as Di Jiu’s competition jade token displayed a message that his participation time had arrived, Kan Yiwei knocked on the restriction outside the door.

Seeing Di Jiu open the restriction, Kan Yiwei said excitedly, "Di, today is the start of the Grand Dao River Pill Tournament in the Dao Domain. Let's go check out the excitement."

Di Jiu simply waved his competition jade token. "Kan, I'm representing the Yan Yi Dao Sect as an alchemist in the tournament, so I have to go."

"Ah..." Kan Yiwei was once again left speechless by Di Jiu's actions.

Isn't the Yan Yi Dao Sect one of the Five Great Sects of the Dao Domain? How could they let an Outer Sect disciple like Di Jiu compete in such a high-level tournament? Had the Yan Yi Dao Sect really fallen that far?

"Don't overthink it. I'm going to compete, you just watch from the outside. Once it's over, we'll talk about joining the Yan Yi Dao Sect." Di Jiu patted Kan Yiwei on the shoulder and left the cave dwelling.
