Unwilling to Face the Truth

"That's impossible, my son, my Charlie..." Princess Jade Hayes lowered her head and looked at the child in her arms, her nerves stretched to the breaking point. Finally unable to hold on any longer, she fainted into Alexander Hayes's embrace.

"Jade!" The last thing Princess Jade Hayes vaguely heard before falling into unconsciousness was someone calling her name.

Queen's bedroom, Qin Palace.

Simon Yu withdrew his hand after checking the pulse, his brows tightly furrowed as he looked at Princess Jade Hayes, who remained unconscious.

Alexander Hayes stood nearby. In just three days, anxiety had streaked his hair with white. He hurriedly asked, "Simon, how is Jade? Why hasn't she woken up after all this time?"

Simon Yu signaled with his eyes for them to move aside. He looked at Alexander Hayes, his expression grave. "Your Majesty, the Queen has been unconscious this whole time. Judging by her pulse, it's not that she can't wake up—she simply doesn't want to."

"She doesn't want to wake up... She can't accept reality." Alexander Hayes's face was filled with pain.

Simon Yu nodded. "That's right. The Queen simply doesn't want to face reality. She rose from a humble farmer to become the Queen of Qin—so dazzling, yet for all her abilities, she still has to watch her son suffer. Jade cares too much about Charlie; she can't accept the fact that he must endure such painful treatment. That's why she's hiding in her dreams, unwilling to wake up, unwilling to face this cruel reality."

"Will she just keep sleeping and refuse to wake up?" Alexander Hayes felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. His son was suffering, his wife lay unconscious, and though he was the King of Qin, there was nothing he could do. The sense of powerlessness was unbearable.

Simon Yu's face was grim as he shook his head. "If she chooses to remain lost in her dreams, no one can wake her. If we want her to awaken, it must be her own choice—she has to be willing to open her eyes."
