The Man at the Bottom of the Polar Night Ruins

Joe Di estimated that, under the effects of spatial misalignment and chaotic spatial currents, his current location was likely no longer Soulbane Gorge. In fact, he might be very far from Soulbane Gorge by now.

While tunneling out through the earth, Joe Di operated the Genesis Body Codex to its utmost limit. Just as he predicted, as soon as he left his previous spot, waves of Voidblades swept toward him once again.

However, Joe Di was now much more composed in the face of these Voidblades.

The Genesis Body Codex formed a faint circle of light around his body. Whenever the Voidblades struck this light, their killing force was immediately blocked. Even when a Voidblade penetrated Joe Di’s body, it quickly transformed into a new kind of body-tempering energy, refining his flesh.

Joe Di was overjoyed. He hadn’t expected the Genesis Body Codex to serve as a protective shield. Once his physical body reached a certain level and was paired with the Genesis Body Codex, he wouldn’t need spiritual armor or defensive treasures—his flesh alone would be the ultimate defense.

At first, Joe Di extended his spiritual sense outward, trying to locate an exit. But soon, he completely forgot about leaving, instead constantly moving through the Voidblades. He endured all sorts of Voidblade attacks, letting them temper his flesh.

After just a few days, Joe Di’s physical body broke through to the Tri-Master Realm. Once he reached the Mastery Realm, his body became more refined, and even his bones seemed to circulate with vital energy.

Even now, Joe Di hadn’t stopped tempering his body. He began to assault the first stage of the Tri-King Realm—the Void Realm. Once he stepped into the Tri-King Realm, he believed he could go straight to Flamecrest and claim the flame.

Time passed as Joe Di cultivated and tempered his body.

Suddenly, a Void Rift appeared right in front of Joe Di. Although he could use Voidblades to temper his body, if he encountered a Void Rift or spatial misalignment, he would be doomed. Voidblades, Void Rifts, and spatial misalignments were entirely different dangers.

Fortunately, Joe Di wasn’t moving fast, as he was focused on body refinement. When his spiritual sense detected the Void Rift and the threat of death approached, he still had time to frantically circulate his body’s energy.

Even so, the Void Rift still sliced across Joe Di’s leg bone.

"Pfft!" A mist of blood burst out as Joe Di’s leg bone was torn nearly in half—he almost lost a leg.

Joe Di was certain that the sudden appearance of the Void Rift was related to that leaf. He didn’t even have time to get angry. A second Void Rift appeared right in front of him. Without hesitation, Joe Di charged into the rift—if he wasn’t decisive, he would surely lose. He absolutely couldn’t let the rift pass through his body.

The sound of cracking bones rang out. As he fell into the Void Rift, Joe Di’s body was elevated once again—even a faint, gentle glow appeared on the surface of his bones.

At the same time, the leg bone torn by the Void Rift instantly healed.

Joe Di was delighted—at this critical moment, he broke through to the Void Realm of the Tri-King Realm in body refinement. That leaf could wait; one day he would find it and grind it to dust.

The Voidblades around him vanished, but Joe Di sensed something was wrong. After coming out, it should have been gray and hazy, or perhaps bright. Yet here, everything was pitch black, and the spiritual energy was far weaker than inside the Skyveil.

This is...

Joe Di swept his spiritual sense outward and quickly confirmed that he was no longer in the Skyveil.
