Counterattack and Tense Frontline Situation
Once William Wang Jinling had made up his mind, Felix Fuller had no choice but to cooperate, no matter how reluctant he was. After dealing with William for so long, Felix knew better than anyone just how cunning William was beneath his ethereal, gentlemanly exterior—and how ruthless he could be when he decided to act.
If Felix dared say no today, William had a hundred ways to make him suffer until he fell in line.
Rather than being forced onto the battlefield by William, it was smarter to cooperate—and maybe even get a little benefit out of it.
William was satisfied with Felix’s pragmatic approach, but if Felix thought he could take advantage of William this time, he was sorely mistaken.
Before leaving, William kindly left Felix with a parting remark: “I won’t write to Ninth Royal Uncle about you and Third Young Master Cui tricking Serena, and I certainly won’t tell him about you sharing a carriage with Serena in the middle of the night or making heavy promises at the Feng Manor gate.”
After hearing William repeat 'I won’t tell Ninth Royal Uncle' several times, Felix broke out in a cold sweat. He stared blankly at William: Was the Wang clan’s intelligence network really this terrifying? He was about to cough up blood from sheer frustration.
William glanced at Felix with cool detachment, gave him a look that said ‘let’s see how you behave,’ and then left elegantly, leaving Felix scratching at the wall in frustration, desperately scheming how he could find some leverage on William and stop him from threatening him again.
But no matter how much he racked his brains, Felix found himself at a dead end. William always acted like a true gentleman, never did anything he couldn’t own up to, and was even open about his feelings for Serena. As for any dirty tricks behind the scenes, with Felix’s current resources, there was simply no way to dig anything up.
“William, you win.” Felix straightened his clothes, shoved away his dejection, put on a smile, and went off to find Third Young Master Cui.
Once the Lantern Festival was over, the New Year was officially behind them. Mira Tang was in Night City, sending a steady stream of reports; even if Serena didn’t want to know about Nolan, she couldn’t avoid it.
