Stuffed with Dog Food
Just as she was pondering, Minister Zhuo arrived.
Grace's father truly loved her mother, right down to his bones.
No matter how busy he was, he visited her every day, talked with her, and never missed a day for more than ten years.
Today, as soon as he arrived, he saw Lena and Grace chatting and laughing together.
Lena looked healthier than ever before.
Minister Zhuo felt a surge of excitement and even found Grace more pleasing to the eye.
"Dad!" Grace stood up and called out.
Minister Zhuo entered and immediately asked, "I heard you hit Queenie Zhu?"
Uh... Looks like I'm about to get scolded again...
Grace sniffed and said, "...I just returned the slap she gave me last time!"
"How did you manage to do that?" Minister Zhuo asked, frowning.
"I used an Exploding Spirit Pill..." she confessed honestly.
"Where did you get the Exploding Spirit Pill?"
"I bought it at the pharmacy!"
"Hmm..." Minister Zhuo glanced at her and grunted, but instead of pursuing the topic, he sat down by Lena's bedside and spoke to her gently: "Lena, you look much better today."
"Yes, these past two days, I've felt lighter and better each day..."
...
Grace looked at her father in surprise. Just a "hmm" and that's it?
He didn't even scold her?
Seeing her parents looking so loving, Grace coughed to interrupt them and asked, "Dad, you promised me that if Mom got better, you'd let me go back to Moonwater Abbey to finish the blessing ceremony. You haven't forgotten, right?"
"Nonsense." Her father immediately flipped out. "Do you really think your mother's recovery is because you prayed for her?"
"Then what was the reason?" Grace asked.
Minister Zhuo shot her a sideways glance. "It's because you came home! Your mother is happy! From now on, you're not allowed to go anywhere. Until you enter the palace, you stay here and keep your mother company!"
Grace panicked and shot to her feet. "Dad! How can you go back on your word?"
"Why are you yelling? Don't scare your mother!" Minister Zhuo snapped, looking like he wanted to kick her out.
"I—" Grace ground her teeth, then turned to her mother for help. "Mom~~"
"Minghan, let her go." Lena said with a smile. "The scriptures she copied herself are really effective. Every time I recite them, I feel much more relaxed."
"Really?" Minister Zhuo's tone instantly dropped ten octaves, suddenly gentle as water.
Lena nodded. "It must be Grace's filial piety that moved the Phoenix Goddess to bless me!"
Minister Zhuo glanced at Grace.
Filial piety... did she really have it?
"Dad, what's with that look?" Grace said, a little hurt, fiddling with her fingers. "I used to be immature, but deep down, I'm very filial to you and Mom."
She looked so adorable like this.
After all, Minister Zhuo was her real dad. Seeing her so cute, his heart softened again. "How long do you need to go? You can't miss your palace entry date."
"Serena Jane said one more month will do!" Grace replied.
She knew that if she asked for more time, her dad wouldn't agree.
A month would leave her more than a month to prepare for entering the palace after she got back, so her dad should agree.
"Fine, you can go!" Minister Zhuo said to Lena, "I hope it really works and you get better..."
"Dad, this time, please don't interrupt me again! I don't have time to do it twice," Grace said.
