True Immortal

12/19/2025

Joe Di took out two immortal crystals. After cultivating for only half a day, he sensed the presence of a tribulation. This surprised him—he had thought that with the Immortal Realm's loss of fortune, advancing to True Immortal would only require transforming his true essence into immortal essence. He hadn't expected that before he even began the transformation, the True Immortal Tribulation would arrive first.

Joe Di quickly stood up, casually set up a protective array to shield Moria Lane, and left the cave residence to prepare for the tribulation.

Even though he knew the immortal spiritual energy here couldn't be cultivated, Joe Di still set up a Spirit Gathering Array at the site where he would face the tribulation.

Thousands of immortal crystals were brought out by Joe Di. As he activated the Starstream Technique and connected with the golden Dao laws, in just a dozen breaths, thunderous rumbles echoed from above.

Then, nine arcs of black lightning crashed down all at once.

It was Joe Di's first time seeing black tribulation lightning. Even before the arcs struck him, he could already feel the terrifying aura contained within them.

Joe Di's body was refined to the divine level, and he could absorb lightning sources. In theory, he shouldn't fear ordinary tribulation lightning at all.

But as this tribulation lightning descended, Joe Di sensed a shadow of death within that terrifying aura.

Without hesitation, Joe Di summoned his ninth-level defensive blade array, while the Azure Veil Blade transformed into a blue arc, sweeping toward the lightning. He dared not be careless—even if his senses were wrong, it was best to block this first wave of tribulation lightning.

Boom! Boom! Boom! The thick black lightning crashed against Joe Di's ninth-level blade array. He heard the sound of supreme-grade blades shattering, and then a gap was torn open in the array.

Despite the strength of Joe Di's ninth-level defensive blade array, it couldn't completely block the first wave of tribulation lightning. The Azure Veil Blade followed up, shredding two arcs of lightning into fragments.

Crack! Crack! The lightning struck Joe Di, splitting open several bloody wounds on his body. Then, with a snap, his bones shattered. Lightning sources and immortal spiritual energy were swept into him, crashing against the True Immortal barrier.

Boom! The bones, already fractured by the tribulation lightning, broke even further under Joe Di's next surge.

Joe Di's heart sank. This was definitely no ordinary True Immortal Tribulation—this was a terrifying tribulation designed to kill him.

In other words, if he hadn't had the ninth-level defensive blade array, this first wave of tribulation lightning would have been unstoppable.

Normally, his tribulation would consist of nine waves, each wave with nine arcs. If each wave was stronger than the last, he could very well die here today.

After Joe Di blocked the first wave, the dense lightning energy fused with the immortal crystals he had scattered, and he absorbed it all.

Joe Di felt as if countless spiritual rains were nourishing his entire body, while his Star River Meridian expanded to its limit, transforming all the immortal spiritual energy into vital essence. Even the spiritual energy drawn in by the Spirit Gathering Array could be absorbed in this tribulation space. In that moment, his cultivation soared.

His injuries also healed rapidly. Joe Di knew that only by advancing to the True Immortal realm as soon as possible could he hope to withstand such a terrifying tribulation.

This tribulation was dreadful, but it also brought him immense benefits. In the twilight Immortal Realm, cultivation was impossible, but under the arcs of tribulation lightning, not only could Joe Di cultivate, he did so at a rapid pace. In fact, during the tribulation, part of his true essence began to transform into immortal essence.

After quickly repairing the shattered blade artifacts, Joe Di faced the second wave of black lightning. Compared to the first, this wave was even more powerful.

The blade array met the nine arcs of lightning head-on, while the Azure Veil Blade and Mountain Crest Fist were unleashed simultaneously.

Facing such terrifying tribulation lightning, Joe Di had no choice but to use every technique he had. He could only hope to refine the lightning source for cultivation after reaching the True Immortal realm.

Nine arcs of lightning crashed down once more, black lightning exploding, mixed with clouds of blood and the sound of bones cracking.

If outsiders had witnessed this, they would surely have thought it was a battle, not a tribulation.

......

Celestial Bamboo River—once a renowned river in the Immortal Realm, its banks lined with lush celestial bamboo.

Celestial bamboo not only gathered and absorbed the world's spiritual energy, but was also a material for artifact forging. If one found ten-thousand-year-old celestial bamboo, it could be refined into supreme immortal artifacts.

There was once a top-tier sect on the banks of Celestial Bamboo River, known as the Celestial Bamboo Sect.

After the Immortal Realm's twilight, the celestial bamboo withered, the river dried up like other lakes and seas, and the Celestial Bamboo Sect, like other sects, abandoned its grounds and left.

However, the Celestial Bamboo Sect was quick to act and left early. Although they were caught up in the ensuing chaos, they managed to preserve some of their strength.

At this moment, a young man in plain clothes was bent over at the dry bed of the Celestial Bamboo River, his eyes filled with delight—for he had spotted a trickle of clear spring water bubbling up from the riverbed.

Though it was only the thinnest thread of a spring, it stirred an indescribable excitement within him.

His name was Qu Tong, a rogue cultivator who had come to the Immortal Realm from the cultivation world. He had wandered the Immortal Realm for hundreds of years, witnessing countless scenes of misery.

This was the first time he had seen water in the Immortal Realm, even after centuries. Only now did he realize that, apart from blood, there was still real spring water in the Immortal Realm.

Qu Tong slowly knelt on the dried riverbed and touched the spring with the tip of his tongue, tasting a hint of sweetness and freshness. He looked up, tears shimmering in his eyes.

Could it be that the Immortal Realm's suffering was about to end? Was the twilight of the Immortal Realm finally over? Why was he able to see spring water here?

Boom! Boom! Boom! Terrifying thunderclaps rang out. Qu Tong jumped up in shock, seeing arcs of black lightning crashing down from the sky.

Someone was undergoing tribulation? And it was black tribulation lightning?

A moment later, Qu Tong was sure he hadn't been mistaken—someone was indeed facing tribulation. With a flash, he rushed over.

He knew that after the twilight of the Immortal Realm, there were no more tribulations. Cultivators who came from the cultivation world to the Immortal Realm only needed to transform their true essence into immortal essence to reach the True Immortal realm. At least, when he transformed his essence, no tribulation came.

He considered himself fortunate; in the Immortal Realm, he found a ring with broken restrictions that still contained some immortal crystals. Using ten billion spirit stones, he entered Grand Fortuna City, where he transformed his true essence.

But there were too many ugly things in the city, and he couldn't bear the daily sights. So he left the city and wandered alone until now.

The place where Joe Di was facing his tribulation was not far from Celestial Bamboo River. It took Qu Tong only half an hour to reach the outskirts of Joe Di's tribulation site.

When he saw those terrifying, thick arcs of black lightning crashing down, his eyes were filled with fear. If he had to face such a tribulation, he was sure he wouldn't last through even three arcs—let alone the endless waves of nine after nine. The city lord of Grand Fortuna City claimed to be a true Golden Immortal, but even he would probably collapse under such a tribulation.

Was this truly a True Immortal Tribulation? If so, then the cultivator undergoing it was unbelievably powerful.

As Qu Tong arrived, Joe Di sensed him. Joe Di grew even more anxious—at that moment, his body was covered in wounds and most of his bones were broken. And he had only made it to the fifth wave of tribulation.

Even under the arcs of tribulation lightning, he was absorbing immortal spiritual energy rapidly, but he still couldn't break through the barrier to the True Immortal realm.

If, after the tribulation, he still hadn't broken through the barrier to the True Immortal realm, he would be in grave danger.

He was so badly injured that any Domain Stage cultivator could kill him instantly.

Thinking of the consequences of failing his tribulation, when the sixth wave of lightning came, Joe Di even abandoned resistance with the Azure Veil Blade, letting more arcs strike him while frantically absorbing immortal spiritual energy and lightning sources to break through the True Immortal barrier.

Boom! Blood mist burst from Joe Di's body again, and he suddenly felt lighter as endless immortal spiritual energy found an outlet. His cultivation soared, his spiritual sea cracked and began to expand again, and everything around him became clearer.

Finally, he had reached the True Immortal realm. Joe Di was overjoyed at his newfound power, and also sensed two faint golden lines in his spiritual sea.

These were not twelfth-level Spiritual Sense, but rather second-level Immortal Sense.

The seventh wave of tribulation lightning fell, but it could no longer suppress Joe Di. Now, the lightning only provided him with resources for cultivation. As his cultivation soared, his wounds healed rapidly. He even put away the ninth-level defensive blade array and focused on absorbing lightning sources and immortal spiritual energy.

After the seventh wave of tribulation, Joe Di had already reached the second level of the True Immortal realm.

Watching from afar, Qu Tong felt chills down his spine and quietly retreated.

The cultivator undergoing tribulation was far too powerful—he could easily kill Qu Tong with a single hand. Qu Tong dared not stay any longer; this was the Twilight Domain, a place rife with slaughter.

There was no reasoning here—staying meant certain death.

The eighth and ninth waves of tribulation lightning fell. Though the black arcs were terrifying, they also provided unparalleled support to Joe Di's cultivation.

After nine waves of tribulation, Joe Di's cultivation barely reached the fourth level of the True Immortal realm.

After the tribulation, Joe Di's wounds had mostly healed. Sweeping his Spiritual Sense into the distance, he saw that the cultivator who had watched his tribulation had already left, and he paid it no mind.

Although he had reached the fourth level of the True Immortal realm, not all his true essence had transformed—he still needed more time to convert it into immortal essence.
