How Can I Not Be Proud

Royal Academy of Mathematics

Lily Evans was busy welcoming the new class of junior mathematics students and had no idea that Charles Chu was already secretly investigating Jade Evans and Lily Evans.

"Professor Jade Evans, long time no see!" Several teachers sent from Phoenix Academy all gathered around.

These people used to be Lily Evans's old colleagues. Now they've been assigned to continue their studies under Lily Evans, shifting from colleagues to a teacher-student relationship. Their attitude changed—friendly, but with a touch of respect.

After the opening ceremony for the new class, Lily Evans returned to her regular, busy academy life.

Recently, more and more students from all disciplines have been signing up. Aside from outliers like Jasper Cheng, most who dare to apply to the Royal Academy of Mathematics are truly outstanding.

More and more liberal arts teachers are also coming, drawn by the academy's reputation. Watching the academy grow day by day and settle into its stride, Lily Evans felt exhausted but deeply accomplished.

In this male-dominated era, where women are forbidden from attending school, she—a woman—not only became a teacher, but also founded an academy and made it famous nationwide. With applicants flocking in like fish in a river, how could Lily Evans not feel proud, not feel accomplished!

"Lola, are all the test papers for the new class ready?" Lily Evans asked.

Usually, when a new class begins, Lily Evans gives the students a placement test to assess their abilities and understand each person's learning situation.

Lola held the test paper, glanced at it, and said, "Professor Lily Evans, it seems there's a wrong symbol in this question."

"Oh? Did I make a mistake?" Lily Evans asked Lola to bring the paper over. Looking closely, she realized it really was a slip of the pen—a symbol error when writing the question.

Lily Evans looked at Lola in surprise. "Lola, how did you notice that?"

Lola thought for a moment and said, "Professor Lily Evans mentioned it in class, but the paper says something different. That's how I noticed."

Looking at Lola, Lily Evans finally understood. Lola had always been by her side, helping out as an assistant during lessons, serving tea and water, but also listening in on the classes.

After being immersed in this environment for so long, Lola had actually learned elementary mathematics.

This discovery delighted Lily Evans. She took the graduation test paper from the previous elementary class and handed it to Lola: "Here, I've corrected the symbols on these papers. When class starts, you'll take the test with everyone else. They'll use the placement test, but you'll use this graduation test."

Lola didn't ask any questions. She was always a quiet girl. She simply took the test paper Lily Evans gave her, and after Lily Evans corrected the other papers, followed her to the classroom.

The students arrived early, waiting respectfully in the classroom. When Professor Jade Evans entered, everyone stood up and bowed with great respect. Many faces were flushed with excitement, honored to have the chance to be taught by the famous Professor Jade Evans.

Lily Evans let the students sit down and handed out the test papers, letting them begin. Lola sat beside the podium at her little assistant's desk, took out the paper Lily Evans had given her, and started answering questions seriously.

Lily Evans had high hopes for this class of students, but she was even more curious about Lola's performance.

This quiet little assistant who had attended an elementary mathematics class with her—just how much talent did Lola have for mathematics?
