Qu Family Finale

Max Mo walked over and happened to overhear the conversation between his assistant and Lisa Li.

Max Mo smiled slightly.

Yes, his Cici had unknowingly grown so much, becoming more and more outstanding.

"President Mo." The assistant saw Max Mo approaching and immediately switched to work mode, quickly reporting, "We've just gotten in touch with Miss Cecilia Grant. She has transferred extra bedding and water purifiers over, and also sent some grains and vegetables. Besides that, Miss Cecilia Grant sent you a special pill, saying that if you can't sleep, remember to take one."

At this point, the assistant's tone became much more relaxed.

He felt increasingly grateful to Cici.

Max Mo often gets so busy with work that he forgets to rest.

If he misses his sleep schedule, he ends up with insomnia.

After a while, it leads to headaches.

Not many people know about this problem, but Cici happens to be one of them.

So every year, Cici personally makes the pills and sends them to Max Mo to help with his sleep.

Now, with so many people in the estate and so many things to handle, Max Mo's sleep schedule is even more disrupted.

Cici worries about his health, so she prepared the pills and had someone deliver them.

The medicine isn't expensive, and the recipe is quite common.

But the care behind it is priceless.

Sure enough, when Max Mo heard this, he couldn't help but smile, "She's really thoughtful, still worrying about me at a time like this."

The assistant grinned, "Exactly! Only the pills Miss Cecilia Grant makes actually work."

Max Mo glared at him playfully and asked, "Anything else?"

"Yes." The assistant put away his smile and replied seriously, "We've also sent our surplus supplies over. Both sides now have enough resources to last a week. The Quinn Family seems to have decided to let our security team pass, so the transport teams haven't faced any attacks."

Max Mo nodded, "Good, it seems the Quinn Family still has some boundaries."

"They can't afford to provoke the wrath of the Yin Family and the Mo Family," the assistant said, his tone cautious.

Max Mo asked, "How's Sophie Mo progressing on her end?"

"Miss Mo has already gathered information on all the guests and is building friendly ties with several British nobles. I expect that when she returns home, the King Family matters will progress even faster," the assistant replied, smiling.

"That girl's got wits. After all this, if we don't get something out of it, it'd be a waste of our trip," Max Mo remarked, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Also, someone from the Qu Family is subtly trying to win our favor, probably hoping you'll take sides," the assistant said. "I refused. I told them the Mo Family doesn't take sides. No matter who inherits the Qu Family, we'll recognize them."

"Good." Max Mo nodded, clearly pleased with his assistant—his skills rivaled those of Little A, Charles Yin's trusted aide.

After finishing his report, the assistant put away his folder, glanced at Lisa Li in the distance, and quietly added, "Zachary Qu's people are still trying to approach Lisa Li."

"Let them approach," Max Mo said, his eyes thoughtful. "Blocking them is pointless. I want to see what Zachary Qu is really up to. He's supporting Steven Qu now, but who knows what he's planning next."

"Exactly." The assistant smiled. "Zachary Qu probably has other plans. As long as he doesn't bother us, it's fine."

"Alright, get going," Max Mo nodded. "Keep in touch with Cici at all times, and make sure things stay calm over there. If anyone causes trouble, handle it directly!"

"Understood," the assistant nodded, accepting the order without hesitation.

Max Mo headed to his room, wanting to rest for a bit.

Out of the corner of his eye, Max Mo saw Lisa Li approaching. He signaled to someone in the shadows, and before Lisa could get close, someone stepped in and pulled her away.

Max Mo returned to his room, quickly washed up, dried his hair, and got ready to rest.

He opened the medicine box on his bedside table and breathed in the familiar scent.

Without hesitation, he swallowed a pill with warm water.

He never doubted Cici—not for a second.

He slept soundly, and when he woke up, his headache was gone and he felt completely refreshed.

A knock sounded at the door. "Bro, you're awake."

"Come in," Max Mo said.

The door opened and Sophie Mo walked in, saying, "It's late. You should get up and eat something."

Sophie Mo saw the medicine box on the bedside and smiled, "Cici always remembers to take care of your health."

"Mm." Max Mo's voice carried a hint of cheerful delight.

"There's been progress with the Qu Family," Sophie Mo said without wasting time. "While you were sleeping, Eric Qu and Steven Qu got into a fight."

"I can't believe I didn't hear anything," Max Mo raised his eyebrows.

"They were all using silencers," Sophie Mo said. "I only saw it through satellite surveillance. The movements weren't big, but there were casualties. The Qu Family Patriarch survived a whole day and night and is still alive, which surprised both Steven Qu and Eric Qu. They're getting impatient."

"He survived?" Max Mo was surprised. "Hasn't the Qu Family Patriarch's health been under control? Making him die accidentally should be the easiest thing."

"There's something going on here," Sophie Mo said meaningfully. "Even after all that, the Qu Family Patriarch refuses to announce his will. Clearly, he has a trump card."

"Mm, after all these years running things here, he must have something up his sleeve," Max Mo said. "What about his four wives?"

"The first and third Madams are in the villa; the second and fourth Madams have joined their sons. The third Madam was accidentally caught and used as a hostage for an exchange, so Steven Qu let the second and fourth Madams go. The women's roles in this war are over; now it's just a battle between the sons. Before, everyone held back a bit, but now that their mothers are with them, they have no more scruples. Eric Qu has already started fighting, and if nothing unexpected happens, we'll have results in two days," Sophie Mo explained.

"Who do you think will have the last laugh?" Max Mo asked, a knowing smile on his lips.

Sophie Mo shook her head. "It's hard to say. But I don't think Steven Qu or Eric Qu will win. They're easily manipulated. Maybe the others set them up as targets on purpose. Bro, do you remember the story from the Kangxi era about nine princes fighting for the throne? The Crown Prince was just a target, and in the end, it was the quiet Fourth Prince, Yongzheng, who won. So, the barking dog isn't scary—the scary one is the quiet one."

After speaking, the siblings exchanged a glance and said in unison, "Qu Zhengming."

It seemed that Qu Zhengming understood Chinese culture very well.

So, this guy is very likely to be the real dark horse in the end.

Time quickly passed—a whole day and night in a flash.

The people of the Qu Family finally lost their patience and stopped hiding; a fight broke out at last.

Both sides used weapons, and in no time, the Qu Family estate was drenched in blood.

Guests at the Yin Family and Mo Family estates listened to the gunfire in the distance, all wearing solemn expressions as they waited for the final outcome.

Cici instructed the estate guards to step up patrols and ensure the safety of the grounds.

It was hard to say whether the Qu Family members, blinded by rage, might come here and force them to take sides.

Cici's concerns were clearly justified.

On the morning of the fourth day, someone from the Qu Family came to Cici's door, requesting to see her.

Cici refused without hesitation.

The visitor tried to force their way into the estate but was thrown out by the guards.

Realizing they couldn't get in, the visitor left, frustrated.

Cici knew that if she let them in, another faction might assume she had allied with them and turn against the Yin Family estate, which would be disastrous.

In a foreign land, safety always comes first.

The atmosphere in the courtyard was more oppressive than ever.

No one felt like chatting; everyone silently waited for the Qu Family's final outcome.

After finishing a video call with Charles Yin, Cici felt a heavy weight in her heart.

On the call, Charles Yin had already told Cici that the Qu Family Patriarch had long foreseen his sons' rebellion and transferred most of his assets overseas. What was left in the country was just a decoy.

In other words, both Steven Qu and Eric Qu were already out of the running.

The older, the wiser.

Even if the Qu Family Patriarch was on his last legs, he was still their father—the one who taught them all their tricks.

Charles Yin also told Cici that because the Yin Family had protected those important guests, they'd receive a generous reward after everything was over.

Cici couldn't help but sigh—her husband was always so deep and shrewd, always able to keep people and events firmly in his grasp.

Boom—

A deafening explosion.

Everyone instinctively looked toward the Qu Family estate.

Eric Qu finally snapped and used a cannon to blast open the Qu Family estate's main gate.

The battle erupted in an instant.

Both sides were completely berserk, and soon, the fight turned into a bloody melee.

Just then, a shadow slipped into the Qu Family Patriarch's room like a ghost, crouched beside him, and whispered, "Dad, Steven and Eric are already fighting. Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh, and Eighth Brothers have all gone berserk. Now that everyone's off this floor, let me take you away."

The Qu Family Patriarch suddenly grabbed his hand, his lips trembling for a long time before he finally managed to speak: "You... why... why are you helping... helping me?"

"Because I'm your son." He smiled softly. "As long as you're alive, you'll give me whatever I want, right?"
