Mrs. Grace Ge's expression was hard to read—she seemed both happy for her daughter and troubled for herself.
Mrs. Grace Ge felt really wronged.
On one side was her daughter, on the other her current husband and first love.
She felt like she was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Julia Yu returned to the hotel, threw herself onto the bed, and didn't want to get up for a long time.
She truly didn't want to deal with all the family drama.
After all these years, wasn't it nice that everyone just minded their own business?
Why did they have to come to her and mess up this balance?
Whether it was her biological parents or her stepparents, she wanted nothing to do with them.
She didn't care if people called her cold-hearted; she just didn't want any trouble.
Julia Yu was never the type to get lovesick. Romance, relationships—all just trouble to her.
Making real money was much more practical.
Julia Yu kicked off her shoes, pulled the blanket over herself, and quietly counted her money, wondering if it was enough to buy off her mother's greed once and for all.
It didn't seem like enough.
Julia Yu sighed and buried herself under the covers, deciding to just sleep it off.
Julia Yu woke up early at sunrise, spaced out for a while, and then started packing her luggage.
Since their flight wasn't until the afternoon, they had the whole morning to pack and get ready.
Since it was their family's private jet, the route was set, and they didn't have to wait in the main hall like everyone else—they used a special passage.
So everyone had plenty of time and didn't need to rush.
After Julia Yu finished packing, she went to find Wendy and the others.
Wendy and the others were quick, too; soon they all came out pulling their suitcases.
Julia Yu checked their belongings with them, making sure nothing was forgotten for the trip.
Then they went to meet up with Cecilia Gu and Sophie Mo's group.
Last night, Cecilia Gu and Sophie Mo played a simulation game together. They ended up sleeping in the same room.
When Wendy and the others arrived, Cecilia Gu and Sophie Mo were still in bed, playing games.
“Mrs. Yin, would you like breakfast in your room today?” Wendy asked, guessing Cecilia Gu wouldn't want to go to the dining room. “Would you prefer Chinese or Western breakfast?”
“Chinese,” Cecilia Gu replied without looking up. “Get some bread and milk for Sophie.”
“No, I want flower rolls, eight-treasure porridge, tofu pudding, rice noodles, pan-fried buns, sticky rice rolls, and mahua!” Sophie Mo answered while playing her game. “Wendy, have my assistant help you. There's too much for one person to carry.”
“Okay, I'll go right now.” Wendy turned and left to prepare breakfast.
Julia Yu quickly said, “I'll go with her. It's a lot for just two people to carry.”
“Thank you, Lawyer Yu,” Cecilia Gu said with a smile and nodded at Julia Yu. “You haven't eaten either, right? Let's bring it all back and eat in the room together.”
“Sure, Mrs. Yin,” Julia Yu replied politely.
The other assistants started packing away things they wouldn't need for now, putting everything neatly into suitcases.
After two more rounds of the game, Cecilia Gu and Sophie Mo reluctantly put away their phones, agreeing to play again that night.
Cecilia Gu got up to wash up, and her assistant Shen quickly dried her hair and gave her a light makeup.
Cecilia Gu looked in the mirror, feeling very satisfied.
Sophie Mo dragged her feet getting ready, but breakfast arrived just as she finished.
Cecilia Gu pulled out a chair and sat down, grabbing a flower pastry and a bowl of eight-treasure porridge.
“Is my brother ready?” Sophie Mo asked her assistant.
“Mr. Mo got up early, finished his workout in the gym, and already had breakfast,” the assistant replied with a smile. “Miss Li Si accompanied him the whole time, but Mr. Mo seemed a bit impatient.”
Sophie Mo paused, then smiled, “Lisa Li really is something. She’s been clinging to my brother for years. Her luck is incredible—after my brother sent her away, her parents passed away, and he felt so guilty he started treating her better. She’s not as arrogant as she used to be, so my brother tolerates her a bit more now. But honestly, my brother’s heart is stone—no amount of warmth can melt it.”
Cecilia Gu picked out a soup dumpling and said, “You only talk about your brother like this because he spoils you. Otherwise, he’d have broken your legs by now.”
Sophie Mo grinned, “He wouldn’t dare—my dad would break all his limbs!”
The other assistants quickly finished their breakfast at a small table nearby.
They couldn’t afford to be as relaxed as Cecilia Gu and Sophie Mo.
By noon, everyone was downstairs at the hotel, with several cars waiting for them.
The assistants loaded the suitcases into the cars, and everyone headed to the airport, ready for their trip to Malaysia.
The plane landed at Malacca International Airport. Before they even left the airport, Cecilia Gu saw Zachary Qu and several men who looked similar waiting ahead.
Before Cecilia Gu could speak, a group of people enthusiastically greeted them: “Mr. Mo, Miss Mo, Mrs. Yin, it’s an honor! I’m Steven Qu, eldest son of the Qu Family, and on behalf of my father, I warmly welcome you all!”
Max Mo shook hands with him, “You’re too kind, Mr. Qu.”
Zachary Qu gave Cecilia Gu and Sophie Mo a half-smile, making them feel strangely guilty.
But Zachary Qu acted as if nothing had happened and went forward with his brothers to greet them.
On the way over, Wendy and Julia Yu had already briefed everyone on the Qu Family, explaining all the complicated relationships to Cecilia Gu and her group.
Malaysia practices polygamy.
Officially, there are four wives; mistresses and lovers don’t count.
So, the Qu Family’s nine sons were born to four different wives.
The eldest and fourth sons are children of the first wife.
The second and third sons are twins, born to the second wife.
The fifth and sixth sons are children of the third wife; the sixth son died at sea a few years ago due to family feuds.
