No Auspicious Day Within Three Years

"General Shang has always been like this! The General doesn't want to marry her at all! It's her, shamelessly clinging to the General—"

"Besides, it's military law!" Shang Zhi really has the bearing of a general, exuding a natural air of authority.

Shao Hua was left fuming, speechless.

Grace shot Shang Zhi a look, then left the manor.

The General's Manor wasn't far from Loyalty Manor.

The weather was especially nice today. Grace rode her horse home at a leisurely pace.

Tenner followed behind her, saying, "Miss Grace, the wedding is approaching, but there's been no movement at the General's Manor, not a hint of preparation. What's going on?"

Grace replied, "Don't listen to her nonsense! There's nothing going on."

But Tenner still frowned with worry.

In his eyes, the lack of action from the General's Manor was definitely not normal.

Shao Hua's words had really struck a chord with him.

"Miss Grace, look, there's a fortune-telling stall over there," Tenner suddenly said. "How about we go and check your and the General's birth charts, see if what she said is true?"

Grace glanced over and, sure enough, there was a fortune-teller set up by the street, with quite a few people lining up.

"No need!"

"Come on, Miss Grace!" Tenner looked at her with hopeful eyes. "Even Marquis Lawrence mentioned it a few days ago. Let's just do it to give him some peace of mind."

Grace couldn't refuse, so she walked over.

The fortune-teller was blind—his eyes were sunken, with no eyeballs at all.

But before Grace could speak, he asked, "Young lady, you're of noble birth and exceptional cultivation. You must have your own private destiny master. Why come to my humble stall yourself?"

Grace was a bit surprised. "Sir, can you see?"

"No, I can't." He chuckled. "I don't even have eyeballs. How could I see?"

"Then how did you know I was a young lady before I even spoke? And you said... noble birth, exceptional cultivation?"

The birth chart master pointed to his nose. "I smelled it! The scent on you is light but elegant, refined yet not common—clearly, you come from a prestigious family. And from your footsteps, I can tell your cultivation is strong."

Grace chuckled. "Sir, do you know how to match birth charts?"

"Of course I do," the fortune-teller replied. "Whose birth charts do you want matched?"

"To check for a wedding date," Grace said, giving both her and Evan Xiao's birth details.

The fortune-teller listened, counted on his fingers, and frowned deeply. "Miss, which year are you planning to get married?"

"This year."

"Oh dear! With these birth charts... there's no truly auspicious day in the next three years! If you must marry this year, September is barely passable."

"Really?" Grace frowned.

"You should've checked your birth charts earlier!" the fortune-teller said. "Last December actually had a very lucky day. Too bad you missed it!"

Grace paused in silence, paid the fee, and turned to leave.

"Miss Grace, when destiny masters match birth charts, they usually pick the soonest date. Why didn't you check last year's end, but only this September?"

Grace didn't answer.

"Could it be... that Miss Shao Hua was right after all...?"

"Stop overthinking!" Grace said. "It's just a street-side fortune-teller, and you actually believe him?"

"Then, should we invite a destiny master to the manor and have a proper reading?"

Grace said, "No need."

She knew Evan Xiao was deliberately postponing the wedding.

She understood.
