Linda Guan stood there, staring at Evan Lin.
Major Hugh Hu already turned to Charles Chen and Lucy Lu, smiling broadly: "If you two have nothing urgent, could you please step outside for a moment?"
"Evan's just a bit mischievous by nature, but he's not a bad kid at heart..." Lucy Lu saw that Major Hu seemed easy to talk to and tried to say something.
"Mm, don't worry, I won't hurt him." Major Hu nodded and smiled again.
But deep down, he was secretly thinking: even if he wanted to hurt that kid, he wouldn't have the ability.
After witnessing Evan Lin's skills on the competition stage—knocking Grant Yuan straight into the hospital with a single move—Major Hu didn't dare harbor even the slightest thought of going against Evan now.
He couldn't wait to use this chance to cozy up to Evan Lin.
"Uh..."
Lucy Lu was still a little worried and glanced at Evan Lin.
"Auntie Lu, it's fine. You and Uncle Chen go ahead. I know this guy." Evan Lin smiled.
That guy.
Hearing Evan Lin call him 'that guy,' Major Hu's smile froze for a second. He felt a bit weird inside, but didn't argue—instead, he nodded along: "Yes, we're, uh, old friends despite the age gap. It's been a while, so it's good to catch up."
After Major Hu reassured them several times, Charles Chen and Lucy Lu finally left the Bamboo Room.
Once Charles Chen and Lucy Lu were gone, Major Hu waved at their backs, then turned to look at Hugh Hu, who was lying on the floor, face ashen, complaining nonstop, and looking utterly miserable.
Major Hu hesitated, then stepped forward and tried to smile at Evan Lin: "Um, Instructor Lin, could you let my brother stand up first? Sitting on him like this isn't really appropriate."
"I'll make sure to deal with him properly when we get home, okay?"
Major Hu kept smiling, his posture low and full of pleading.
This scene landed in Linda Guan's eyes, making her feel even more shocked. And that 'Instructor Lin'—it absolutely stunned her.
What kind of instructor could make Major Hu treat him so carefully?
He's a Hu family major!
Looking across the entire Jinnan Military District, there's no instructor with more power and status than him!
"Fine, but like I said before, he can't walk out the Bamboo Room's main door today."
Evan Lin stood up and got off the chair.
Hugh Hu scrambled to his feet and hid behind Major Hu.
Hearing Evan Lin's words, Hugh Hu's face changed instantly. Even though he was free, his anger flared up and he was about to curse, but Major Hu shot him a cold glare and he immediately lowered his head obediently.
"So, as long as he doesn't leave through that door, you'll forgive him?" Major Hu pondered for a moment, then asked—not trying to bargain.
"Yes." Evan Lin nodded.
"Bro, what do you want me to do, then? Am I supposed to stay here forever and never leave?" Hugh Hu looked miserable.
"Go out that way." Major Hu pointed toward the nearby window.
"The window? We're on the fourth floor, bro!"
Hugh Hu looked over and jumped in fright.
Right outside Easy Breeze Residence was a busy commercial street—if he climbed out the window, he'd be humiliated in front of everyone!
"Safety rope!"
Major Hu shouted to the soldiers nearby, and someone quickly tossed over a bundle of safety rope.
Major Hu grabbed the safety rope and stared at Hugh Hu: "Take the rope and get down now. If you don't, I'll break your legs!"
Hugh Hu shivered at those words. He couldn't figure it out, but didn't dare argue—he was terrified his big brother would actually break his legs.
Hugh Hu grabbed the safety rope, found a spot to secure it, then climbed out the window and slowly made his way down.
Linda Guan saw every bit of this play out before her eyes.
Her expression shifted again and again—her mind was starting to shut down from shock.
She looked at Evan Lin and realized he'd stayed calm the whole time, like everything was under his control.
Once Hugh Hu disappeared out the window, Major Hu turned a cold gaze toward Linda Guan, who was standing to the side: "Miss Guan, what's wrong? Do you still need something?"
"Do you need me to personally send someone to escort you out? Or are you planning to call your family elder, or maybe phone your boss Mr. Ling to let him know you're safe?"
Major Hu looked very cold. Linda Guan gave Evan Lin one last deep look, forced a smile, and quickly said, "Major Hu, you're joking. I'm fine, so I'll head out now. When I get a chance, I'll pay my respects to the old master."
With that, Linda Guan turned to leave—she needed to hurry and report all this strange business to Ling Xuan.
"Wait."
Linda Guan had just taken her first step when Evan Lin's voice sounded from behind.
But she ignored it and sped up, trying to get out as fast as possible.
"Instructor Lin told you to wait, so you wait! Didn't you hear? Block her!"
Major Hu's face darkened as he barked the order.
A dozen soldiers at the door instantly blocked Linda Guan's exit.
