However, when he turned around, he saw two people.

Grandpa Gene and Rina Chu were standing under the tree behind the thatched hut, looking up.

Following their gaze, he saw Grace.

She lay motionless on the tree, looking just like a cicada.

"What is she doing?" Evan Xiao asked aloud.

Rina Chu glanced at him, then at Grace, and said wistfully, "We have no idea what she's doing either..."

"How long has she been like this?"

"Since yesterday afternoon till now, she's been lying on that tree without moving."

Evan Xiao vanished from where he stood and appeared behind Grace.

Her whole body clung to the tree, as if she wanted to squeeze herself inside.

Her eyes were wide open, but she didn't see him at all.

No one knew what she was so absorbed in thinking about.

Evan Xiao simply grabbed her and pulled her down from the tree.

"Eh? Eh?" Grace snapped back to herself and turned to see Evan Xiao.

"What are you doing?" Evan Xiao asked.

"I..." Grace blinked and shook her head. "Nothing..."

She still wasn't sure and didn't want to tell him for now.

"Leon Zane said you guys already left yesterday afternoon."

"Oh... we were planning to leave," Grace said.

"Then why haven't you left yet?" Evan Xiao asked, face darkening.

"Crown Prince Evan Xiao, are you trying to kick us out?" Grace asked. "If you want us gone, we'll go."

With that, she took Rina Chu's arm. "Let's go! Let's go home!"

But before she could take a single step, Evan Xiao yanked her back. "Grace, you were the one who volunteered to treat my mother. Do you think you can just hand it off to Leon Zane and be done with it?"

"He totally can!"

"Are you scared something might go wrong and just want to run away?"

"No!" Grace shook her head. "Where could I even run to? I can't get this thing off my neck yet!"

Evan Xiao's face was icy. "No matter what, until my mother recovers, don't even think about leaving Drake Abyss."

Grace turned to Rina Chu. "Rina, can I borrow your Celestial Lash for a bit?"

Rina Chu shook her head, grabbed Grandpa Gene and started to walk away. "Grandpa Gene, I saw weeds in the flowerbeds at the Celestial Empress's Palace yesterday. Let's go pull them out!"

"Did you?"

"There are!"

...

And just like that, the two of them left.

Grace glanced at Evan Xiao. "Crown Prince Evan Xiao, if I remember right, today is a lucky day. Aren't you supposed to go to the Sacrifice Pavilion for your marriage ceremony?"

Evan Xiao paused for a moment and said, "Give me a little time."

"A little time for what?" Grace asked. "With a little time, can you call off your engagement with her? Can you marry me instead?"

"Whether I can or not, don't even think about leaving Drake Abyss!" Evan Xiao said, all iron and resolve. "Never!"

"What if I insist on leaving?" Grace retorted.

"Give me a little time too."

"What do you mean?"

"For Ray's sake, give me a little time, so I can find you a good grave."

Grace: "..."

Suddenly, she felt she was in the wrong.

If he'd already forgotten, why did she bother provoking him again?

"Since you're already my woman and we have a child, where else do you want to go?" Evan Xiao pinched her chin. "Want to go find Henry Tuoba? Or Jun Lionhead?"

"Hey!" Grace slapped his hand away angrily. "If you want to talk about Henry Tuoba, fine, but why bring up my master? What did my master ever do to you?"
