Little Fish Requests an Audience

Grace understood what he meant. In other words, if Chen Shishi came to cause trouble again, they'd have her back.

She said gratefully, "Thank you, Justin!"

"Miss Little Fish, if you really want to thank Justin, words alone aren't enough," Aiden joked.

"Oh, that's true..." Little Fish scratched the back of her head. "How about... I treat you all to a meal?"

"A meal?" Justin looked quite interested. "Where are we eating?"

"Right here! I'll cook," Grace said. "How about I treat you all to lunch today?"

"Sounds great!" Aiden said. "I've always wanted to try Miss Little Fish's cooking."

Justin shot Aiden a sideways glance, but Aiden just winked at him.

"Then we'll trouble you, Miss Little Fish," Justin said.

"Wait here, I'll head to the kitchen and whip up a few dishes." Grace told the Stable Steward, even inviting him to join them, and then personally cooked more than ten dishes in the kitchen.

The dishes were just ordinary fare.

But she used spirit spring water from her Sanctum.

She also grabbed a few medicinal herbs from her Sanctum to use as ingredients.

Plus, with her experience as a former Eighth-Tier Alchemist when it came to handling ingredients...

Honestly, getting to eat a meal she cooked was pure luck.

Throughout the entire meal, all you could hear was Aiden exclaiming, "Why is this so delicious?!"

"Don't fight me for it!"

"Save me some!"

Then there was Leon, who always seemed so mature and quiet, but he was shoveling food in chopstick after chopstick, eating just as much as the wolfing-down Aiden.

Justin and the Stable Steward were a bit older, not as rowdy as the young ones, but even they ate twice as much as usual.

In the end, there wasn't even a drop of soup left on the plates.

Seeing how satisfied they all looked, Grace felt pretty happy too.

Plus, after sharing a meal, everyone got to know each other better.

In the afternoon, Grace went to find Steward Qin and asked if he'd told the General about her wanting to leave.

Steward Qin looked troubled. "I did."

"The General didn't say anything," Steward Qin replied.

"The General didn't say anything," Steward Qin replied.

"He didn't agree, but he didn't refuse either. He just dismissed me," Steward Qin said.

"He didn't agree, but he didn't refuse either. He just dismissed me," Steward Qin said.

"Maybe you should go talk to him yourself?"

Grace thought about it and nodded.

She made her way back to the Cold Moon Pavilion like she knew the place well; Evan Xiao was in his study.

She stopped outside the door and said, "General, Little Fish requests an audience."

Grace walked in. The weather was a bit hot today, so Evan Xiao was only wearing a loose, dark blue silk robe with wide sleeves. His long hair flowed down like water, giving him a lazy, casual vibe.

"General," Grace lowered her eyes. "I'm here to resign."

"General," Grace lowered her eyes. "I'm here to resign."

He's really not going to say anything?

Looks like Steward Qin wasn't lying to her.

Grace looked up at Evan Xiao and saw him staring emotionlessly at his paperwork.

"After you leave, where will you go?" Evan Xiao asked without even looking up.

Grace found it a bit odd. Was he actually worried about her?

After thinking for a moment, she replied, "I might go work as a maid at the Prime Minister's residence. I heard the eldest young lady there still needs one."

She was familiar with the Prime Minister's residence, and even more so with the eldest young lady there, so she always used it as an excuse.
