The elevator doors opened.
Leon Yuan, now in clean clothes, stepped out of the elevator.
Mia Miao, who had been anxiously watching both the elevator and Gavin Yu’s side, was already on edge.
Seeing Leon arrive, she immediately looked at Evan: "I might have to excuse myself for a bit."
"Leon and I need to try for the role. You’ll be okay here by yourself, right?"
Mia glanced at Evan, her eyes apologetic.
"Go ahead."
Evan nodded, saying nothing more.
Mia rose and headed toward Leon.
Leon, now in fresh clothes, had also washed his face.
His defeated aura had faded a lot; he looked much more upbeat.
"Let’s go over together."
Mia approached, looked at Leon, and straightened his collar for him: "Kevin Zhou and Lily Tan have been over there for ages."
"I just saw them chatting pretty well with Director Gavin Yu."
"If we wait any longer, I’m afraid the role will be decided, and you’ll lose your chance completely."
Mia’s words were full of worry.
She knew this role was Leon’s only real opportunity right now.
If he lost this chance, Leon would be stuck in obscurity for a long time.
Worst of all...
If Kevin Zhou blew up thanks to this film, given his and Lily Tan’s history with Leon, the two of them would probably go all out to suppress him.
"Yeah."
Leon nodded and took a deep breath.
He glanced at Evan sitting there, nodded to him in greeting, then walked with Mia toward Gavin Yu’s group.
More and more people were gathering around Gavin Yu.
Everyone knew this was an opportunity.
Especially after Yara Song took an interest—her joining made the opportunity even more precious.
The more people lift each other up, the hotter things get.
The Yara Song and Gavin Yu combo was enough to draw attention.
Yara was still thinking about how to phrase things—how to get into the crew first, then aim for the female lead.
She didn’t even need to think: Gavin Yu’s chosen female lead was definitely Serena Tong.
Victor Wu kept glancing at the time.
He was a bit dissatisfied with Gavin Yu’s choice, but not really angry.
"Relax, I’ll help you get that female lead role," Victor whispered in Yara’s ear.
"Everyone knows Serena Tong doesn’t care much about money or fame."
"But few people realize she does care about certain people."
"After all, Serena isn’t made of wood."
Victor’s face was full of confidence as he spoke.
Yara was about to say something when she suddenly frowned.
"What are you doing here?"
Yara’s voice was cold. Her words made several people pause, then look over to see Leon and Mia approaching.
"You don’t need to apologize anymore. Yara has already forgiven you for what happened earlier."
Victor Wu stepped forward, standing in front of Leon, full of disdain: "Also, I hope you’ll keep your distance from Yara."
As he spoke...
Mia’s head was full of curiosity and confusion.
She knew Victor Wu, and understood Yara Song’s status there.
But Mia had no idea what had just happened.
"I’m sorry about what happened before, but I’m not here to apologize to Yara Song this time. Hope you don’t misunderstand."
Leon nodded and walked past Victor Wu.
Victor frowned, and Yara’s expression was a bit unpleasant too.
"So that’s who it is."
Kevin Zhou, who had been chatting with Gavin Yu about how he managed to invite Master Liang, turned and saw Leon approaching. Instantly, his face twisted into a mocking grin: "So it’s our big star Leon Yuan."
"Brother Leon, long time no see. I’ve missed you so much."
Kevin acted all enthusiastic.
It was all an act.
Just for show.
He spoke, but had no intention of shaking hands.
Gavin Yu glanced at Leon and nodded in greeting.
"Director Gavin."
Mia stepped forward: "I’m Leon Yuan’s agent, Mia Miao."
"I’ve spoken with you before. Do you remember?"
Mia continued speaking.
She called it a conversation, but in reality, it was just a brief chance Mia had worked incredibly hard to get.
"Yes, I remember you."
Gavin Yu nodded and smiled. "You’re a hardworking one—waited three days just to see me."
"But I was very clear with you at the time."
"This time, the actor I want needs to have a foundation in action—preferably kung fu—and must be able to deliver a real sense of fighting on screen."
As he spoke, Gavin Yu looked at Leon.
He didn’t show any particular expression just because Leon was already past his prime.
"After your agent contacted me, I went back and watched some of your work."
"Leon, your look and presence actually fit what I want for this role, but to be honest, you’ve only acted in idol dramas and romances before."
"Whether it’s the character or the acting requirements, it’s just not what I’m looking for."
Gavin Yu shook his head. "I hope my bluntness doesn’t disappoint you."
"I just don’t get a sense of kung fu or action from you. Do you understand what I mean?"
That’s how Gavin Yu put it.
Mia grew anxious on the side.
"Director Gavin’s films are always top-notch. His eye for talent is unmatched."
"If you ask me, you’d best not waste your time."
Victor Wu sneered.
Yara didn’t say anything, but her eyes still showed her displeasure at what Leon had just done.
She was clearly still holding a grudge.
After all, he’d stained her dress.
And Yara Song was still waiting to compete with Serena Tong.
Even a bit of cake wasn’t worth mentioning—it could be wiped clean easily.
But it still left a flaw in today’s outfit.
"Yeah, Leon, you’ve always been a bookworm and only suited for idol dramas. Asking you to star in a kung fu movie is really a stretch."
Lily Tan laughed: "I used to ask you to go running—just a kilometer, and you couldn’t finish it. You’re not built for this."
As she spoke, Gavin Yu shook his head, clearly even less optimistic about Leon.
"I believe it’s all up to effort, and I’m fully prepared. No matter how hard it gets, I believe I can play this role well!"
"I just want Director Gavin to give me a chance!"
Leon spoke earnestly.
"Just being mentally prepared isn’t enough."
Gavin Yu spoke directly: "Your agent said she’d find you the best action coach."
"Now, Kevin Zhou has Master Liang. What about you?"
