A green chain wrapped around my body, dragging me into a small hut and tossing me inside.
"Ethan."
It was Lily Wu. I was stunned. The hut's four walls were covered in painted symbols, and Lily was inside. I hesitated, but she ran over. The moment she touched me, she was thrown back. Her whole body suddenly seemed to turn to glue, dripping and splattering. She screamed in agony.
"Lily!"
I cried out in alarm. Lily Wu looked to be in great pain, her whole body sizzling and smoking with wisps of greenish smoke. I was worried and could only inch closer, bit by bit.
"Lily, are you alright? Please, don't scare me."
After a long while, Lily Wu finally recovered, her face pale and her form began to blur and fade.
I was about to approach Lily Wu, but then I realized—the green chain on me would hurt her. I started to back away.
"It's alright, Ethan."
Lily Wu spoke, slowly getting to her feet, but stumbled and fell to the ground. I was anxious, seeing her like this. All the hatred in my heart had long faded. Now, I only hoped to escape with everyone, taking advantage of their current interest in me. Maybe, since they're interested in me, they won't harm me for now.
