Third Household's Realization
Susan Evans and Sam Evans went straight to Grandpa Evans to talk about splitting the family.
Grandpa Evans had been in a bad mood lately because of May Parker's situation. Seeing that the Third Evans Household wanted to split off, his face darkened. He said, "What, you run into trouble and want to live on your own? Aren't we still family?"
Susan Evans had already prepared her response and said, "Dad, why say it like that? Look, when sons and grandsons grow up, don't all families eventually split?"
Grandpa Evans snorted. "Go ahead, what do you really mean?"
Susan Evans said, "Dad, you know about Sean Evans's marriage—no one wants to marry their daughter to him, all because the Main Evans Household dragged us down and ruined Sean's reputation. Dad, you know our Third Evans Household has always worked hard, and all the heavy and dirty chores are done by my husband and Sean. We've contributed a lot to the family over the years—you've seen it yourself. I have no other intentions, just want Sean's marriage settled early so I can be at ease. I also have Lana Evans, a girl who values her reputation even more... Dad, both hands are made of flesh, we're only thinking about splitting because we have no other choice. Please, Dad, let us do this."
Her words, all from the children's perspective, left Grandpa Evans speechless for a long time, unable to come up with a rebuttal.
After a while, Grandpa Evans finally relented and agreed to the split.
At first, Grandma Evans opposed the idea, but looking at the family's situation, she knew there was no other way.
The couple from the Main Evans Household knew they were in the wrong and didn't dare object. But unexpectedly, the only one to speak out was Samuel Evans, who usually never meddled in family affairs.
Samuel Evans's face was gloomy. "Sam Evans, Susan Evans, things are fine—why suddenly split the family?"
Sam Evans replied, "Brother, you know best how things have been these years. Our Third Evans Household has always taken care of all the hard work, but when it comes to the good things, they're always given to the Main Evans Household. Now that we've hit a rough patch, you're worried about us splitting off?"
Samuel Evans was left speechless. He knew what Sam Evans said was true.
Grandpa Evans knocked his pipe against the table and said, "Enough! If you want to split, then split. From now on, the Third Evans Household is on their own."
Susan Evans and Sam Evans were overjoyed and quickly thanked Grandpa Evans.
Grandma Evans gave a long sigh. "It's not easy to keep a big family together. Now that we're splitting, I just hope you all get along and don't hold grudges."
Grandpa Evans waved his hand impatiently. "Go pack up your things. Tomorrow morning, you can move out."
The Third Evans Household was finally going to live on their own.
Susan Evans and Sam Evans didn't sleep much that night, busy packing and making arrangements.
Early the next morning, the Third Evans Household packed up and moved out.
Grandpa Evans watched them leave, his heart heavy.
Grandma Evans wiped her tears, sighing over the family's fate.
