Farewell to Parents, White Night Returns

Go! Go!

Go to Hong Kong, join the unprecedented grand adventure, and take part in the biggest Time-Space Capsule Event ever!

With her parents' blessing, Jill Young's inner fire blazed to life. Good thing Jill wasn't a Saiyan, or that passion and determination would've triggered a real-life transformation!

Teaming up with Jill Young for this quest got Jasper Xiao all fired up. He thumped his chest and declared he'd handle all the paperwork for Hong Kong. After making some big promises, Jasper made a call, gave a few instructions, and soon got a call back: "Sorry, Mr. Xiao, you can't go to Hong Kong now. Due to certain reasons, all sea, land, and air routes are shut down—no entry or exit. You'll have to wait two days."

Wait two days? In two days, the flowers will have wilted—who has time for that!

Jasper Xiao got serious, started calling around, and tapped into all his connections. Soon, the calls came back with good news: "No problem, Mr. Xiao, I've got it sorted for you!"

Jasper Xiao was just about to praise them, but the caller continued: "But, Mr. Xiao, I'm really sorry—my limit is that only you can go."

Then, they tentatively asked, "By the way, why do you want to go to Hong Kong right now?"

Jasper Xiao brushed it off, hung up, and looked annoyed: "The government must've caught wind of something. Now Hong Kong is locked down tight—getting in is tough."

"Of course the government got the news—if they didn’t react, that’d be weird." Jill Young was as calm as ever, teasing: "Big shot, your fancy route isn’t working, huh?"

Jasper Xiao was frustrated but could only nod gloomily. "No way out."

See? People need to be humble, low-key, and practical. What good are all those flashy, high-level connections? Fine, if you’re out of options, watch me solve a high-profile problem in a low-key way! Jill Young picked up the phone and dialed someone essential at a time like this—Bobby Brooks.

The next day, August 3rd, 9 a.m., Jiping City Airport.

John Yang, Susan Morrow, Jill Young, Jasper Xiao, and Lu Yide all stood together in the airport lounge.

"Lu Yide, are you really not coming?" Jill Young looked at the man still wearing bandages. "Such a great opportunity—aren’t you curious?"

"I..." Lu Yide hesitated, then gave a wry smile and shook his head. "Forget it, I’m not going..." After the Facehugger incident, Lu Yide's eyes were filled with hesitation and doubt, no longer the confident man he once was. "Maybe the Chosen One life isn't for me. I have a wife and kids, so..." He looked a little guilty, chose his words carefully, and finally said, "So, I’ll just be an ordinary vet."

An ordinary vet... Jill Young gave him a deep look, said nothing, and nodded. Everyone has their own path. Being a Chosen One isn’t something you choose—it just falls on you out of nowhere. He has no obligation to risk everything.

But after becoming a Chosen One, after being marked with that mysterious sigil, can you really go back to being "an ordinary vet"? Jill Young didn’t know—she hoped so.

"Kid, our girl’s going with you, so you’d better look after her." Susan Morrow patted Jasper Xiao’s shoulder, a bit hard, her eyes a little fierce. "If I find out you don’t take care of her…"

"Don’t worry, Auntie, I’ll protect her!" Jasper Xiao promised firmly, then hesitated and smiled wryly. "But honestly, she’ll probably be protecting me. Also, Auntie, could you maybe ask her not to mess with me at crucial moments?" Remembering Jill Young’s last surprise kick, Jasper Xiao looked up at the sky, tears streaming down his face. Forget about protecting anyone—if she just stops messing with me, I’ll count myself lucky.

"Haha!" Susan Morrow laughed, giving Jasper Xiao a hearty slap on the shoulder. "Don't worry, it's a tradition in our family to blow off steam when we're upset—nobody ever died from it!"

"Tradition..." Jasper Xiao broke out in a sweat, glancing at John Yang with a look of deep, almost reverent respect.

John Yang pulled Jill Young aside, didn't say much, just gave a few words of advice, then took out a small sachet from his pocket. "Here, this is yours—it's been with me for over twenty years. Time to return it to its rightful owner."

"Mine?" Jill Young was curious, taking the sachet and discovering a small paper packet inside, filled with some powder. "What is this?"

"It's your umbilical cord."

"Huh?!" John Yang's words were totally unexpected. "Didn't Mom say...?"

John Yang chuckled, "Your mom was about to lose her mind back then, so I had to grab it. As for throwing it away..." He trailed off, not finishing the sentence. After a brief silence, he continued, "Well, just treat it as your good luck charm. I was a materialist my whole life, and now I'm making charms—how funny is that?"

Jill Young looked at the sachet but didn't put it in her storage space. Instead, she hung it around her neck, wearing it close to her heart. The sachet, simply sewn from cloth, felt warm against her chest.

"Cangcang, you’re not coming with me this time. Stay here and protect Dad and Mom, okay?" No one knew how many Facehuggers the Alien Queen had released, or how many were still lurking in the city. Leaving Cangcang here as a bodyguard was the safest bet. Cangcang accepted the order, darted onto Susan Morrow’s shoulder, and snuggled and nuzzled her face, making her laugh out loud.

"Alright, girl, stop dawdling." Susan Morrow raised her hand, palm hovering in the air. "Go on—take care of anything that rubs you the wrong way!"

"Alright, no problem!" Jill Young raised her hand too, and the mother and daughter high-fived with a crisp smack. "Let’s go, let’s go—time to head out!" Jill Young waved and strode over to Uncle Chao. Jasper Xiao bowed slightly to the couple, then hurried after her.

"A private jet for pickup—how is that low-key?"

"For me, this is already low-key. Enough talk—just make sure we get to Hong Kong on time!"

The two bantered as they strode into the boarding gate. Soon, a black plane shot into the clouds, vanishing into the sky. Watching it disappear, Susan Morrow was silent for a long time, then suddenly, as if all her strength had left her, she gently leaned against John Yang’s shoulder.

John Yang patted his wife’s shoulder, comforting her in a gentle voice. "Don’t worry, our kids will be fine. A golden fish isn’t meant for a small pond—when the storm comes, she’ll become a dragon..."

Meanwhile, back to Jill Young’s side.

Jasper Xiao had to admit defeat—not because of the private jet, he had his own—but because of Jill Young’s definition of 'humble, low-key, and practical.' The food and fun along the way were one thing, but what really impressed him was her sneaky travel method. First, she boldly headed straight for Guangdong, then switched to a hydrofoil, one of those seaside tourist rides.

The hydrofoil detoured out to international waters, took a big loop, and headed for Hong Kong. The airspace was closed, so they couldn’t just barge in—but Jill Young didn’t want to anyway.

Jill Young pulled open the cabin door, the wind howling. She shoved a parachute pack into Jasper Xiao’s arms and pointed down: "See that boat? That’s where we’re headed—don’t get lost."
