Sacred Flame Assists in Breaking the Runes
Lena King was so anxious she didn't know what to do, while Evan Yang realized that the fire here was truly fierce. If he only used his Ice-fire Sacred Flame, it wouldn't be enough; he had to lower his own internal temperature, and on top of that, he still had to withstand the assault of these flames.
In this situation, the best solution was to let the Sacred Flame assist.
Unbeknownst to the three, Evan Yang wrapped himself in Sacred Flame. Besides attacking, Sacred Flame could also absorb fire attributes—especially since much of the flame powering the Rune Cones came from the volcanic vents, which were all natural fire. All of that was greedily absorbed by the Sacred Flame, leaving only the flames from Liam Blaze and his cousins. Against the Ice-fire Sacred Flame, those were negligible.
So Evan Yang just stood there, not revealing himself immediately. Since the three artifacts could gather so much fire, he simply let the Sacred Flame absorb even more.
The three, seeing Evan Yang unaffected and even smiling at them, were shaken. Liam Blaze finally steadied himself and said, "Evan Yang, stop pretending. These flames are enough to wipe out a peak ninth-tier expert. Do you really think you can last forever just because you have Ice-fire Sacred Flame? Once we finish you off, we'll take your Ice-fire—even if we can't become its successor, using it will still be a huge boost for us."
Evan Yang laughed, "Is that so? Then I'd like to see how long you can keep this up."
Liam Blaze thought Evan Yang was joking, so he snorted coldly, "Let's see who lasts longer!"
So the three ramped up their flames. Meanwhile, Evan Yang stood there and sent a voice transmission to Lena King, telling her not to worry. At first Lena was anxious, but seeing Evan Yang completely unharmed, she finally relaxed.
Liam Blaze and his cousins started to doubt themselves. Was the fire not strong enough? That couldn't be—after all, they were using three ninth-grade Immortal artifacts, and the combined power should be enough to obliterate a peak ninth-tier expert.
But after so much time, Evan Yang didn't show a single sign of injury—let alone being burned. This made the three even more uneasy.
As time went on, it became increasingly clear—Evan Yang simply wasn't afraid. The three attackers were nearly drained of all their strength. If they kept going and still couldn't defeat Evan Yang, they'd be finished.
But they refused to give up, thinking that if they kept pushing, Evan Yang would eventually falter.
Evan Yang noticed their momentum weakening. Eventually, they couldn't even inflict a scratch, and the surrounding flames faded. Seeing it was pointless, Evan Yang laughed, "Are you really still going to keep this up?"
"You—!" Liam Blaze was furious and resentful, but there was nothing he could do.
"Now it's my turn to teach you a lesson!" Evan Yang snorted coldly. Ice and snow erupted, instantly freezing Liam Blaze and his cousins solid.
At this point, they couldn't even resist. Evan Yang walked up to Liam Blaze, looked at his frozen form, and smiled, "Got anything else to say?"
"You... you..." Liam Blaze was so angry he couldn't speak, and he still couldn't understand how, even with the Rune Cones, the three of them couldn't handle Evan Yang.
Lena King ran over and glared at Liam Blaze. "Hmph, you schemers—looks like you got what you deserved."
Evan Yang laughed. "I'll be taking these three Rune Cones off your hands." He collected the Rune Cones one by one, leaving Liam Blaze and his cousins trapped in ice, unable to move. Their remaining strength wasn't enough to break free.
"Stop struggling. Let me think about how to deal with you," Evan Yang said.
"Of course, it was to frame you," Liam Blaze said.
"Thanks for cooperating. I've already recorded this confession. Once we're out, I'll show it to the three Palace Lords," Evan Yang said with a grin.
Liam Blaze hadn't expected to fall for it—he'd just admitted to killing Leroy Li.
Still, Evan Yang was curious. "How did you do it? How did you freeze him like that?"
Liam Blaze refused to answer. Seeing his silence, Evan Yang sighed, "If you won't talk, I might just toss you into a volcano right now."
"Fine, I'll talk," Liam Blaze said, knowing as long as he survived, he'd have a chance to escape later.
"Go ahead," Evan Yang prompted.
"It's the Frostbite Needle. I got it by chance—it's basically useless most of the time, but I knew it could freeze someone solid. If it touches blood, it freezes the whole body, and can wipe out the soul before the victim even realizes it," Liam Blaze explained.
"So that's how it works. Interesting. Mind letting me take a look?" Evan Yang smiled.
"What do you want with it?" Liam Blaze asked, startled.
"Relax, I'm not going to use it on you. I just want to see it," Evan Yang said with a smile.
Left with no choice, Liam Blaze handed over the needle. It slid out through a hole Evan Yang had prepared, and the moment he touched it, a wave of chill spread out.

Evan Yang examined it and realized it could freeze any liquid with ease. It was a decent artifact, wasted on them. He smiled, "I'll give this to you."
Lena King was overjoyed. As soon as she took it, a burst of cold instantly cooled her overheated body.
Seeing Evan Yang hand the needle to Lena King, Liam Blaze cursed inwardly, "One day, I'll take it back."
Evan Yang glanced at the three. "Since nothing else is pressing, I'll just store you in a Space Ring."
With that, Evan Yang picked a Space Ring big enough to hold people and sealed them inside. He had no intention of throwing them into his Strange Spiral Shell—that secret was his alone.
Once everything was settled, Evan Yang smiled, "Let's go. When we're out of here, those three will suffer plenty more."
"What if they recover their strength and escape from your Space Ring?" Lena King frowned.
"Don't worry. They don't have that ability," Evan Yang assured her. He'd already sealed their bodies, so they couldn't recover at all.
Sure enough, inside the ring, the three furiously cursed Evan Yang for his despicable tricks, but Evan ignored them and led Lena King to the light gate.
At that moment, the three Earth Temple disciples were taking on the challenge one by one and quickly disappeared. Evan Yang steadied himself and said, "No idea what this layer will be like. I think you should go into the Space Ring too."
"No way! The Space Ring is pitch-black. I don't want to go in there," Lena King shook her head.
"I have another, much better space. It's not dark at all—you'll see once you're inside," Evan Yang said with a smile.
Lena King eyed Evan Yang suspiciously. "What kind of place is it?"
"You'll see once you're inside," Evan Yang replied.
Lena King nodded, so Evan Yang sent her in. She was stunned by the scene inside—and even more shocked to find several other women living there. Her expression turned odd.
Seeing Lena King's expression, Evan Yang realized she'd misunderstood, but he trusted Lydia Yang and the others would explain.
Sure enough, the four quickly became like sisters, getting along well—except they all targeted Evan Yang.
Watching them criticize him, Evan Yang felt depressed. If he'd known they'd resent him so much, he wouldn't have let Lena King in.
But Evan Yang thought about it—it made sense. He'd kept them inside for so long, and the time in that space was fifty times faster than outside.
So Evan Yang decided that once he found a good place for cultivation, he'd release them all to train together.
With that thought, Evan Yang prepared to enter the light gate. The seventh layer's gatekeeper was a Flame Temple expert with powerful fire attacks, but Evan Yang passed easily.
He entered the eighth layer—a vast desert. Evan Yang saw the three Earth Temple disciples cultivating in one spot.
When they saw Evan Yang step through the light gate into the eighth layer, all three frowned.
"Is this kid planning to enter the ninth layer?" one of them muttered.
"Looks like that's exactly what he's planning," another muttered.
"Does he not know how hard each layer gets? We spent a lot of strength just getting through this one. Why isn't he resting first?" the last wondered aloud.
The other two didn't know either. They just watched the light gate, waiting to see if Evan Yang would really make it through.
The eighth layer's guardian was an Emperor Realm sixth-tier Earth Temple expert with mastery of earth arts. He could even create illusions of the desert outside, confusing intruders.
But for Evan Yang, that wasn't enough. He memorized every change in the surroundings and easily found the guardian's real location.
Finally, Evan Yang caught the guardian and defeated him.
"Thank you for going easy on me," Evan Yang said with a smile.
"Are you really just a fourth-tier Immortal Lord?" the guardian asked in disbelief.
"That's right," Evan Yang replied.
"You're truly a rare genius. Congratulations on reaching the ninth layer. Not many dare to attempt it. I hope you find what you're looking for," the guardian said.
"Thanks for the warning. I'll make the most of it," Evan Yang replied, grateful for the reminder.
