No matter how determined Sean Kerr was, when it came to matters involving Mrs. Kerr, he would always lose his composure.
Rona Muir was right—this kind of man wasn’t worth trusting with your life.
Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships are always tricky to handle.
In this matter, Sean Kerr sided with his mother, turning a blind eye to Mrs. Kerr’s bullying of Rona Muir.
When things like this pile up, even the best relationships get worn down.
That’s why Rona Muir could clearly see what the future held—a tragedy. So she kept avoiding Sean Kerr, refusing to say yes to him.
Back then, Cici Grant always felt it was a shame that two people who obviously liked each other would split up just because of family opposition.
But now, seeing how things turned out, Cici Grant actually felt relieved for Rona Muir!
Being together is about harmony—it’s not enough just to like each other.
Jiro Hirayama, who had been quietly sitting there, suddenly stared off into the distance, murmuring, “Hmm? Interesting!”
Cici Grant followed Jiro Hirayama’s gaze and, when she saw who he was looking at, she was stunned too.
Fate brings rivals together—enemies are bound to meet on a narrow road!
Wayne Wang, dressed in a dark gray suit, was holding a wine glass and chatting animatedly with someone.
Jiro Hirayama suddenly laughed, “Oh, I almost forgot—I intercepted his call to the Yamaguchi-gumi. If he hadn’t told me your bloodline was special, Cici Grant, I wouldn’t have known!”
It’s him!
A flash of determination appeared in Cecilia Gu’s eyes.
This Wayne Wang had come after her twice, just because he relied on his powerful connections in Capital City.
Before, she’d promised Wang Yu and begged Charles Yin not to go after Wayne Wang anymore.
But who would’ve thought that right after she helped him out of trouble, he’d turn around and sell her out in Japan!
No wonder Charles Yin told her that now, no matter who pleaded, it wouldn’t work anymore!
He had to make Wayne Wang pay the price!
Didn’t expect to run into an enemy here today!
Meeting here—what a coincidence!
Too bad Charles Yin wasn’t here. Otherwise, things would’ve been even livelier.
Max Mo stood to the side and chuckled softly.
Charles Yin was caught up with something else, so this was her best chance to shine!
As long as she could stand up for Cecilia Gu, she’d rack up even more brownie points!
Just as Max Mo was about to offer to help Cecilia Gu, Jiro Hirayama spoke up first: “Cici, do you want revenge? I can help.”
Cecilia Gu looked at Jiro Hirayama in surprise. “How can you help me?”
“Did you forget what I do?” Jiro Hirayama looked at Cecilia Gu with pride. “Don’t underestimate my professional skills!”
Rona Muir, standing to the side, scoffed, “Make him impotent? Is that really your specialty?”
Jiro Hirayama’s face actually turned red. He shot Rona Muir a fierce glare.
Wow, to make a mad scientist show such a human expression—Rona, you deserve an award!
Seriously, how did you manage to get this lunatic acting normal in just one day?
“I can do it, just watch.” Jiro Hirayama said, then turned to take two glasses of wine from a waiter and walked over to Wayne Wang.
After Jiro Hirayama approached Wayne Wang, he chatted with him for a while, then spiked one of the drinks and handed it to Wayne Wang.
Strangely enough, Wayne Wang actually took the drink and downed it in one gulp!
Seeing such a bizarre scene, both Cecilia Gu and Rona Muir’s jaws dropped!
Seriously, what did Jiro Hirayama just make Wayne Wang drink?
After finishing his little stunt, Jiro Hirayama strolled back, looking like he was waiting for praise.
Cecilia Gu couldn’t hold back and asked directly, “What did you give him?”
Jiro Hirayama replied with smug confidence, “I asked him if he’d been feeling weak and sore lately, and he said yes. So I told him I’m Jiro Hirayama, and I have a miracle medicine that, mixed with alcohol, will restore his manhood.”
“And he just drank it?” Cecilia Gu and Rona Muir asked in unison.
“Yep,” Jiro Hirayama answered, full of conviction. “It’s just that simple!”
That Wayne Wang must be crazy, right?
He’ll believe anything anyone says?
Max Mo, however, picked up on the key point: “You told him you’re with the Yamaguchi-gumi, right?”
Jiro Hirayama turned to Max Mo. “Yep.”
Jiro Hirayama looked completely unfazed, not at all bothered by adding another problem to the Yamaguchi-gumi’s plate.
Cecilia Gu covered her face, feeling like she’d let Mr. Hirayama down.
Jiro Hirayama had caused trouble again!
“What exactly was in that medicine?” Cecilia Gu felt her heart couldn’t take much more.
“Of course it was a medicine to restore his manhood,” Jiro Hirayama replied, puzzled. “Except, the effects will kick in a lot faster.”
At an occasion like this...
Cecilia Gu could almost see her revenge coming true.
Just then, the whole banquet suddenly quieted down. Someone was making a grand invitation for the birthday girl to appear.
Cecilia Gu looked over and saw two people slowly walking down the winding staircase.
Sean Kerr, impeccably dressed in a tailored suit, was escorting a girl in a white princess dress down the stairs.
The crowd burst into applause.
Cecilia Gu quickly glanced at Rona Muir’s face.
Rona Muir’s expression seemed calm—at least, it looked calm.
Cecilia Gu didn’t miss how Rona Muir suddenly grabbed Jiro Hirayama’s hand, her fingers trembling.
Tonight might be the end of their relationship.
No one expected it to come so fast, so suddenly.
Jiro Hirayama looked at Rona Muir in surprise.
He hadn’t expected Rona Muir to grip his wrist so tightly.
Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Gong stood up together, delivering a string of formal speeches.
The main point: tonight was Miss Emily Gong’s birthday banquet. They thanked everyone for coming despite their busy schedules, then, after complimenting each other’s children, dropped a bombshell—the two families were announcing an engagement!

Sean Kerr looked undeniably handsome tonight, and Miss Emily Gong was absolutely stunning.
Sean Kerr stepped forward, wanting to explain something to Rona Muir, but she merely turned her gaze to Miss Gong and spoke gently, "Congratulations to Mr. Kerr and Miss Gong—such a talented man and beautiful woman, truly a perfect match. I’ll offer my blessings here in advance: may you grow old together and have children soon."
Miss Gong smiled and thanked her.
Sean Kerr, standing to the side, felt as if he’d fallen into an ice cave, staring at Rona Muir in disbelief.
Mrs. Kerr looked very pleased with herself.
If Sean Kerr still didn’t get it, he really was too dense!
He’d been played by his own mother!
"I wonder if this young lady brought a date? With two celebrations and an odd number of cake-cutters, it’s considered unlucky," Mrs. Kerr continued to needle Rona Muir.
Rona Muir smiled, raising her eyes to Mrs. Kerr. "Why the rush, Madam? Of course I brought a date tonight."
At that moment, Cici Grant nudged Jiro Hirayama and whispered a threat, "If you don’t take good care of Rona tonight, I’ll have your family take you home immediately!"
Jiro Hirayama shot Cici Grant a sideways glance, but still strode forward.
"Hello everyone, I’m Rona Muir’s date tonight. Allow me to introduce myself—I’m Jiro Hirayama, Japanese, and a biochemical expert." Jiro Hirayama greeted the crowd with a friendly smile.
The crowd’s expressions shifted slightly when they heard Jiro Hirayama’s introduction.
A Japanese…
And a biochemical expert…
The Hirayama surname…
Mrs. Kerr hadn’t expected Rona Muir to actually bring a date.
Mrs. Kerr thought that even if Rona Muir found a date at the last minute, he’d be just a gigolo or a PR guy. She never expected a Japanese biochemical expert with such an impressive background.
Jiro Hirayama continued, “Yes, I’m from the Hirayama family. My father is one of the Yamaguchi-gumi members.”
Well, now everyone in the room knew exactly who he was!
Mrs. Kerr’s expression soured.
