"Major Hu!"
Linda Guan straightened her expression as she watched Major Hugh Hu walk into the hall, giving a slight bow.
Major Hugh Hu glanced at her indifferently and waved his hand. "Linda Guan, right? From the Oceanport Guan family. I don't mind you coming to Jinnan to have some fun, but what's going on here—dragging my younger brother in to be your pawn?"
"Last time, your Guan family's kid got beaten up, which upset Old Master Wu and even put my own grandfather in a bad mood for days. And now, what—you're letting Linda Guan drag my brother into this mess?"
Major Hugh Hu shot Linda Guan a cold look and snorted.
Linda Guan kept her polite smile and didn’t argue. Instead, she spoke in a gentle, steady voice: "I honestly didn’t know Old Master Wu was upset. When I get back, I’ll make sure to properly discipline Guan Zehao."
"Today, I’m just here on Ms. Ling’s instructions to have a meal with you, Major Hu. But I didn’t expect someone to show up halfway and just start beating people without warning."
Her words carried an obvious implication, and as she spoke, she glanced at Evan Lin, who was sitting in the chair.
At that moment, Evan Lin was sitting with his back to the door, occasionally pressing his foot down on Hugh Hu, who was lying under the chair. Even when he heard the door open, he didn’t bother to turn around.
Major Hugh Hu glanced over, frowning.
"Bro! You finally showed up! Hurry and get this punk off my back!" Hugh Hu shouted, his voice half-panicked, half-comic.
Hugh Hu glared at Major Hugh Hu, his face twisted with indignation. "This kid just attacked out of nowhere and even beat up my guy! Now he's still lounging against the wall—come on, you gotta stand up for me here!"
Major Hugh Hu glanced at the wall and saw someone slumped against it, clearly injured—one of his men.
"That's not what happened!" Lyu Shu blurted out, her face anxious as she tried to explain.
"I'm not talking to you people, so keep your mouth shut." Major Hugh Hu shot her a cold glare, his eyes sweeping the room. Lyu Shu shrank back, and Chen Qiangshan quickly pulled her down to sit.
Then Major Hugh Hu turned to Evan Lin. Behind him, his soldiers streamed in one by one, lining up smartly. Two of them stepped out to guard the Bamboo Room's entrance, making sure no one else could come in.
Major Hugh Hu strode past Linda Guan. Linda smirked, seizing the moment to whip out her phone and snap a photo.
In the photo, Major Hugh Hu was heading straight for Evan Lin, who sat coolly on a chair—balanced atop the furious, red-faced Hugh Hu.
Linda Guan sent the photo straight to Ms. Ling.
Far away in Oceanport, Ms. Ling received the message. She glanced at the photo, then shook her head with a faint, icy smile. Leaning back in her chair, she muttered to herself, "I never thought you'd manage to run from Minghai all the way to Jinnan. Lucky for Fang You the last time she came to Jinnan, she didn't bump into you."
