Turmoil of the Ancient‑Martial Ma Family

Evan Lin followed the voice and saw Ryan Ren walking straight toward him.

Ryan Ren's loud shout drew the attention of quite a few people nearby.

"So it really is you!"

Ryan Ren strode over quickly, closing the distance in just a few steps until he was right in front of Evan.

"I thought you looked familiar when I saw you from over there! Who would've guessed, Ethan Lu actually dared to bring you here? Doesn't he know what day it is?"

Ryan Ren stared at Evan, his smile fake and cold, glancing around: "Where's Ethan Lu? Didn't come with you?"

"Isn't he afraid I'll cripple you right here?"

Beside Ryan, a few guys and girls about his age stood around.

Hearing Ryan's words, the group sized Evan up, looking puzzled.

"Ryan, you know him?" a girl asked curiously.

They were all Ren juniors, and since the Ren Family was a subordinate clan under the Ancient Martial Qin clan, today's gathering was a big deal.

Normally, they wouldn't even be qualified to attend.

But this time, because they needed tons of security, all the juniors with some skill got called in to play security guard—and get a chance to see the real world up close.

"Know him? More than that! This punk actually laid hands on me back on the ferry!"

Ryan Ren spoke coldly, his eyes flashing with hostility as he stared at Evan.

"So... which clan heir is he?"

A slightly skinny guy behind Ryan eyed Evan nervously, afraid to offend someone he couldn't handle.

He was terrified of accidentally crossing someone untouchable.

"What clan heir? He's just some tourist from out of town, probably Ethan Lu's college classmate or something. He's got zero background, trust me!"

Ryan Ren sneered, "If he really had any connections, would he show up here alone?"

"That's true. The other Ancient Martial clan heirs all chartered their own ferries."

The others nodded in agreement.

"So this guy really just has no background and came here to join the fun?"

"Not only that, he even offended our Ren Family!"

Once they figured that out, everyone looked at Evan with even more hostility.

"Now that Ethan Lu isn't here to back you up, shouldn't you hurry up and kneel in front of me and beg for forgiveness?" Ryan Ren snarled, grinding his teeth in hatred.

He'd never been so humiliated before.

And to lose face on Seahaven Island, of all places.

He could barely stand it.

"Aren't you curious how your clan's Pointing-to-Mystery master died?"

Evan looked at Ryan Ren, his expression unchanged: "Or do you think you're stronger than your Pointing-to-Mystery master?"

"How did our Pointing-to-Mystery master die? He just died of sudden illness! What else could it be?"

Talking about it made Ryan Ren angry.

He'd arranged for Uncle Eagle to wait there, planning to cripple this punk.

But things didn't go as planned.

Uncle Eagle, normally so powerful, ended up dying without even getting a single move off.

He died quickly and cleanly, in a way that was almost too strange to believe.

Ryan Ren couldn't figure it out.

Because at that moment, nobody sensed any energy at all.

So they could only chalk it up to a hidden illness suddenly acting up.

Martial artists always have some hidden ailments, one way or another.

"So what, are you trying to say you killed Uncle Eagle?" a girl behind Ryan sneered at Evan.

"Ha! This guy must be out of his mind. Him? Kill Uncle Eagle without anyone noticing?" someone laughed.

"That's impossible. Uncle Eagle was already at Pointing-to-Mystery—fifth grade, sure, but he'd been at that realm for over ten years! A veteran like him couldn't possibly lose to some random kid!"

They all chimed in, one after another.

"You think I'm stupid?"

Ryan Ren sneered, "I'm telling you—right here, right now, kneel and apologize!"

"Even if Ethan Lu showed up now, I guarantee he couldn't save you!"

Ryan Ren was gnashing his teeth in hatred.

He had barely finished speaking.

Evan had already kicked out with his foot.

His kick slammed into Ryan Ren's stomach, sending him flying dozens of meters and crashing with a splash straight into the artificial river under the bridge.

"Where'd he go?"

The group who had been laughing were stunned.

"He fell in the water! Somebody help!"

Someone finally snapped out of it.

Ryan Ren held a special position in the Ren Family. If anything happened to him, everyone here would probably get punished for it.

Everyone rushed toward the river, not a single person stayed to bother Evan anymore.

None of them had expected it.

A whole living person, kicked away like a soccer ball.

Not just kicked away, but sent flying that far.

Evan shook his head, ignoring the panicked crowd, and turned to walk into the Emperor International Hotel on Seahaven Island.

He pressed the elevator button when he got there.

When Evan reached the thirty-seventh floor, he saw Lily Liang waiting for him.

"You're here!"

Lily Liang stared at Evan for a moment, a bit dazed.

"Don't recognize me?" Evan glanced at her.

"No, it's just—you suddenly got so much taller." Lily snapped out of it, feeling a little embarrassed.

She understood deeply now how powerful Master Lin from Seacrest really was.

Even though Evan hadn't been at the Ancient Martial Rowe estate lately, everyone in the Rowe clan treated her with extreme respect because of him.

All that respect was thanks to Master Lin from Seacrest!

Lily Liang led Evan to her room.

This floor was quiet; it wasn't clear if anyone else was in the other rooms.

"I was supposed to get you your own room, but there are just too many people this time. You'll have to put up with sharing with me."

Lily said it without much embarrassment.

Her suite had several other rooms inside.

From here, you could see the whole view of Seahaven Island.

"Where's the Ancient Martial Rowe clan head?"

Evan sat on the sofa; he hadn't seen the clan head on his way up.

"No idea, maybe he's cultivating."

Lily Liang shook her head, then hesitated: "I heard them talking about the Ancient Martial Ma clan these past few days."

"What's going on with the Ma clan?"

"It sounds like the Ancient Martial Ma clan was wiped out by someone."

Talking about it, Lily still felt a lingering fear.

To destroy an Ancient Martial clan...

How strong must they be?

Maybe their strength was close to Master Lin from Seacrest?

Thinking of that, Lily couldn't help glancing at Evan, remembering the day he took her alone into the Rowe clan's estate.
