Inn Gathering

"Yes. For now, this is the most reasonable explanation," said Emperor Li.

"So how can it be removed?" Quinn Qing asked gloomily, not expecting to suffer such a fate—and all because of that Evan Yang.

Quentin Qing also asked, "Emperor Li, do you know any way to remove it?"

"Even Emperors can't deal with this poison, but detoxification masters naturally can. However, those who specialize in removing this toad poison are said to be plentiful in the Snowveil Star System—it's just a matter of whether you're lucky enough to find one," Emperor Li said.

"Then I'll send people to the Snowveil Star System to investigate," Quentin Qing said after thinking it over.

"Yes, act quickly. I'm afraid you only have ten years," said Emperor Li. "What? That short?" Quentin Qing exclaimed.

"If an ordinary person gets this poison, they'd die within days. But we're cultivators, and your son is already at the Heavenly-Immortal level, so lasting ten years is already quite good," said Emperor Li.

"Understood," Quentin Qing nodded, then had Emperor Li sent off before returning inside to look at Quinn Qing.

"Don't panic. I'll send people to look as soon as possible," Quentin Qing said, seeing Quinn Qing's dark purple appearance.

"Father, if we can't find a cure, I want that kid to die with me," Quinn Qing said.

"Who are you talking about?" Quentin Qing asked curiously.

"Evan Yang—the one who just became the Palace Lord's son-in-law," Quinn Qing said.

"I've heard about it too. Didn't expect it to be him," Quentin Qing muttered.

"Father, you should be able to do it, right?" Quinn Qing said.

"Of course I will. But I won't let you die like this either," Quentin Qing said, leaving the room with a heart full of grief and anger.

Quinn Qing cursed under his breath, "Evan Yang, I won't let you off." At this moment, Quinn Qing felt terrible—the poison was strange, at first there were no symptoms, but after a few days his whole body began to go numb.

Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong had no idea what the poison would do next; by now, they saw that many people had gathered in the inn.

"Are these people all here to discuss catching toads?" Hannah Nangong asked curiously.

"Yes. And many of them seem to be from other planets, just here to catch toads for medicinal purposes," Evan Yang said.

"That's true. Back at Ethereal Sanctuary, we needed some herbs that required toads, so we'd often send people to catch or buy them. But those weren't nearly as long-lived as this one. This time, my father clearly wants you to fail—a Million-Year Venom Toad is impossible, it's basically a monster," Hannah Nangong muttered.

"Monster? Can't spirit beasts become immortals?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"They can. But once a spirit beast reaches a certain level, it moves to another realm," Hannah Nangong explained.

"What do you mean by another realm?" Evan Yang asked, puzzled.

"Don't tell me you only know about the Immortal Realm? Haven't you heard of other realms?" Hannah Nangong asked suspiciously.

"Aren't all the small realms? Don't those who become immortals all come to the Immortal Realm?" Evan Yang asked, confused.

"Looks like you really don't understand. Let me explain—spirit beasts have another name: demons. When they reach a certain realm, they automatically go to the Demon Realm. The Demon Realm is similar to the Immortal Realm, but it's mostly populated by demons. We call our realms Earth-Immortal, Heavenly-Immortal, and so on; they have their own titles, like Earth-Demon, Heavenly-Demon, etc.," Hannah Nangong said.

"Really? So can the Demon Realm and Immortal Realm travel freely between each other?" Evan Yang asked in shock.

"Wrong. There is a passage, but both sides are guarded by powerful experts to prevent free travel. So it's difficult for anyone to cross over, whether demons want to come here or we want to go there," Hannah Nangong explained.

"I see. So besides the Demon Realm and Immortal Realm, what other realms are there?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"Looks like you really don't know anything. Let me fill you in: Immortal Realm, Demon Realm, Devil Realm, and Death Realm—these are the four famous great realms. Other small realms that are just like minor planes aren't worth mentioning," Hannah Nangong said.

"What are the Devil Realm and Death Realm?" Yang Han suddenly felt overwhelmed by all these places.

"The Devil Realm is similar to the Immortal Realm, but the people there are vicious by nature, and their cultivation methods are all sinister—so-called devil arts. When they reach a certain realm, they automatically go to a place there," Nangong Yanxia said.

"If you cultivate devil arts, you go to the Devil Realm? That's a bit much," Yang Han said, surprised and skeptical.

"Yeah, I don't really know the details—I haven't been there. Anyway, I've heard it's terrifying," Nangong Yanxia replied, exaggerating casually since she'd only heard rumors.

After thinking for a moment, Yang Han asked, "So what is the Death Realm?"

"The Death Realm? That's for souls. Have you heard of reincarnation?" Nangong Yanxia said.

"Reincarnation? Yes," Yang Han recalled that in the Human Realm, there was such a place.

"Where did you see it? Your realm?" Nangong Yanxia smiled.

"Yeah, how did you know?" Yang Han asked curiously.

"Every realm has a small passage—that's the one leading to the Death Realm," Nangong Yanxia smiled.

"What? Those reincarnation circles lead to the Death Realm?" Yang Han exclaimed.

"That's right. You think that's all it takes to reincarnate? Not even close. They say in the Death Realm, you have to go through many procedures before you can truly reincarnate. So the Death Realm is the final destination for all realms, and also the most mysterious place," Nangong Yanxia said.

"If that's true, then the Death Realm really is a powerful place," Yang Han muttered.

"That's right," Nangong Yanxia said.

Yang Han understood now, and secretly wondered, "Are Luna and Brocade going to the Demon Realm?"

Thinking of Luna and Brocade still half-asleep, Yang Han really didn't know how to get them to wake up.

"I didn't expect there to be so many realms in this world. I thought just the Immortal Realm was big enough," Yang Han sighed, realizing how narrow his perspective had been.

"That's still far from it. When we get the chance, let's visit other realms," Nangong Yanxia said with a smile.

"I'd like to see that," Yang Han smiled.

As the two chatted, a voice sounded below: "Everyone should know the purpose of this gathering, right? It's once a month, and today I'll lead the way. I'm from another star system, not Snowveil, but I have several friends here who are natives. They'll guide us, and together we'll see who's lucky enough to catch a toad. Whoever finds one keeps it. If we run into danger, let's all stick together."

The crowd responded enthusiastically, all expressing support. "Wait, is it really whoever catches the toad gets to keep it? Aren't you afraid people will fight over it?"

"I don't really get it either. Let's just keep watching," Nangong Yanxia said, still unsure.

Yang Han nodded and kept listening. It turned out that 'whoever gets it keeps it' meant the toads were all sleeping, so there was no need to fight. But everyone had to watch out for other ferocious beasts, since there were rumors of other dangerous spirit beasts in the Snowveil Star System.

"So that's how it works. Everyone gathers at a spot, then searches for toads individually, and if there's danger, we act together," Yang Han said.

"Right. And since they're familiar with the Snowveil Star System, they should know where the toads are," Nangong Yanxia said.

"Yeah, let's join them later and find a chance to ask those locals from Snowveil," Yang Han said.

Nangong Yanxia nodded.

So the two listened as the discussion wrapped up. Soon, many people gathered, and Yang Han and Nangong Yanxia went downstairs to join them.

There were all sorts of people here, so Yang Han and Nangong Yanxia's arrival didn't make much of a splash—except that everyone else was male, and Nangong Yanxia was the only woman, which naturally made her the center of attention.

Even the organizer kept staring at Hannah Nangong. If she hadn't listened to Evan Yang and refrained from acting, she would've already taught this guy a lesson.

"I'm the organizer, Li Yu. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me," the man said, walking up to Nangong Yanxia with a smile, trying to shake her hand.

Evan Yang smiled. "Alright, I will. Thanks, Captain Li." With that, he reached out and shook his hand instead.

Li Yu was left embarrassed on the spot, making everyone secretly laugh. Some even felt sorry for him, but Li Yu could only force a smile and say, "Alright, alright. How should I address you?"

"I'm Evan Yang," Evan Yang replied with a smile.

"And her?" Li Yu asked with another smile.

"Oh, she's my wife. Just call her Madam Yang," Evan Yang said with a smile.

Even Hannah Nangong hadn't expected Evan Yang to use such an excuse, but she enjoyed it and just smiled without saying anything.

Li Yu's face almost turned black—obviously, Evan Yang was saying it for his benefit. Everyone around quieted down, waiting to see what would happen next.

At that moment, Li Yu said, "Alright, alright. Welcome to the couple. Hope you two stay safe on the road—some beasts especially like women."

"Thanks for the warning. If any beast tries that, I'll smash it to pieces," Evan Yang said with a smile.

Li Yu was stunned for a moment, then forced a laugh and said to everyone, "Take an hour to prepare. We'll meet here and depart in an hour."

The crowd dispersed, while Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong returned upstairs.

As soon as they entered the room, Hannah Nangong shut the door and said, "Hey, aren't you being a bit too proactive?"

"Come on, I was just joking with him. Didn't you see his face when I said that?" Evan Yang said with a smile.

"Really? You're not jealous, are you?" Hannah Nangong teased. "No way, why would I be jealous? You're overthinking," Evan Yang replied with a smile.

"Tell me the truth, you really weren't jealous?" Hannah Nangong asked, her smile fading.

"No, absolutely not. If you really liked someone, I wouldn't say things like that—right?" Evan Yang said with a smile.

Hannah Nangong felt a pang in her heart at his words, but she held back and said, "That's true. Just don't stop me when the time comes."

"Of course not. Why would I stop you? If you found someone you liked, I'd be the first to support you—even if he was a monster, I'd bring him right to you," Yang Han said with a smile.

"What monster? You think I'd like a monster? Damn it," Nangong Yanxia said, feeling annoyed.
