Chapter 293: Auckland
"The Patriarch has always spoken up for you, but you know how it is—the Merlin Family's rules are set, and the Elder Council holds a lot of power..." William Merlin paused, then continued, "And I keep feeling like someone is secretly influencing the Elder Council. Otherwise, there’s no way the opposition would be so unanimous. Normally, those old geezers would argue for days over a handful of gold coins..."
"Oh?" Leon's brow furrowed instantly. If someone really was pulling strings behind the Elder Council, that grudge would be a big one. Once he reached Auckland, he’d have to have a little chat with whoever was responsible.
For a mage, there was no grudge greater than this.
"Nothing we can do—the wealth of the Gilded Rose makes some people green with envy..."
Leon chuckled, ending the topic. "Alright, enough about that. How’s your Alchemical Vortex fusion coming along?"
"I finished the fusion on my second day back in Auckland. These past few days, I’ve been getting used to it. Suddenly having double the mana feels... weird, to say the least."
"Good. I'll give you three more days to adjust to the Alchemical Vortex. After that, we head to Auckland."
"Alright."
