"Let me take this call."
Evan Lin pulled out his phone and glanced at the screen.
The caller ID made Evan Lin a bit surprised.
Lily Liang.
Ever since she followed Evan to the Ancient Martial Rowe clan—coming and going together—Lily Liang hadn’t contacted him once.
Evan left Lily Liang at the Rowe clan.
On one hand, it was to thank Lily Liang for sticking with him through life and death.
In effect, the entire Rowe clan was basically handed over to her.
For Lily Liang, this was an enormous benefit.
Anyone in the Rowe clan who wasn’t clueless knew that Evan Lin was backing Lily Liang.
The terrifying experience Evan Lin brought to everyone at the Rowe clan that day was enough to make them deeply wary of him.
As for the whole Rowe clan, Evan Lin never really cared about them.
And from then until now...
Lily Liang hadn’t called Evan Lin even once.
She knew well enough that she and Evan Lin weren’t really the same kind of people.
Still, whenever she thought about it alone, Lily Liang felt a vague sense of regret and helplessness.
But Lily Liang was self-aware enough not to push things.
So up to now, she had never taken the initiative to contact Evan Lin.
The phone kept ringing.
Warren Wu quietly stepped out of the room.
"Hello?"
Evan Lin answered, sitting in his chair. "You’re calling me—did something happen?"
Did the Rowe clan kick you out, or is there some trouble?
Evan Lin asked curiously.
On the other end, Lily Liang paused when she heard Evan’s voice.
After a moment, she finally spoke.
"In a few days, there’s going to be an Ancient Martial Family Gathering."
"I wanted to ask if you’d like to go."
Lily Liang’s voice was gentle.
It almost felt like she was talking to a man she’d been waiting for a long time.
In reality—
Lily Liang hadn’t gone back to the Liang family at all.
She’d been staying at the Rowe clan this whole time.
Back then, Evan Lin left her there as a kind of reward.
But in Lily Liang’s eyes, she was more like Evan Lin’s eyes overseeing the entire Rowe clan.
She never dared treat the Rowe clan’s respect for her as a license to act out.
She also understood perfectly well that everything about the Rowe clan—and everything she had now—belonged to that young man.
Lily Liang wasn’t particularly ambitious.
The Rowe clan had been stable and honest lately.
No one in the Rowe clan had gone out; everything was peaceful.
