Chapter 969: Sky Rank Invasion

A Full Right-Angle Magic Reaction Core was produced and, with the help of two auxiliary alchemical golems, installed into the chest cavity of a Level 30 spellcasting alchemical golem. The alchemical array was linked, activating the magic reaction core.

Instantly, a light flickered in the crystal eyes of the alchemical golem.

Under Krovitz's command, the alchemical golem walked out of the factory, its hands constantly assembling and disassembling, transforming into two pitch-black cannon muzzles. An orange glow lit up in the left arm's muzzle, and with a roar, a burst of fire shot out, leaving a long tail in midair before striking a boulder two hundred meters away.

The seven- or eight-meter-high boulder exploded into fragments with a thunderous boom, and the ground within a dozen meters was scorched black.

This is the new weapon designed for mass combat, focusing on explosive power.

Meanwhile, the alchemical golem's right arm glowed with a blazing white light. A beam as thick as an arm instantly spanned over a kilometer, striking another massive rock in the distance.

The beam pierced through the massive rock in an instant, leaving a fist-sized hole.

Keep in mind, this boulder is seven or eight meters thick!

This weapon system was modeled after the Sky Rank alchemical golem's arsenal. It excels at long-range attacks, with extremely high energy concentration and piercing power—making it the best choice for sniping enemy elites.

After the two new weapon tests were completed, the alchemical golem’s legs began to transform, shifting into four slightly thinner limbs. These spread out and anchored into the ground, while its arms combined into a larger cannon barrel.

A blinding crimson light glowed from the barrel, slowly squeezing out like an egg from the muzzle. Waves of destructive magical energy whipped up a fierce wind, swirling around the alchemical golem.

Even though this was only a Level 30 alchemical golem—with a mass-produced magic reaction core, standard parts, and weapon systems straight off the assembly line—the magical aura it emitted now rivaled that of a Level 33 alchemical golem at full power!

Boom...

A deafening roar erupted as the alchemical golem’s body recoiled slightly. A crimson laser, as thick as Hubert’s thigh, blasted out, leaving a kilometer-long scarlet trail through the air before slamming into a small mountain peak far away.

The laser pierced the mountain without resistance, sinking deep inside—then, in the next instant, the entire peak exploded...

Dozens of meters of rock shattered into fragments...

In a flash, Leon deduced that this newly named 'Laser Cannon' weapon was as powerful as a high-level single-target Seventh-Rank spell, and its casting range far exceeded that of ordinary Title Archmages.

The only drawback was its low firing frequency—after each shot, the alchemical golem’s magical energy would rapidly decline and slowly recover. At this rate, it could only attack once every five seconds.

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Leon’s mouth.

Five seconds is nothing. If hundreds of new alchemical golems equipped with this weapon and the Full Right-Angle Magic Reaction Core were deployed, they could unleash uninterrupted magical bombardments.

With this casting range, any enemy below Level 30 could be wiped out instantly. Facing another orc army, their advantage in elite strength and numbers would be dramatically reduced.

And with this success, the alchemical golem army could finally play a decisive role against powerful enemies.

Previously, in battle, the alchemical golems barely suppressed enemy elites. If a Ninth-Rank Orc Sword Saint charged into a group of Bladewalker Alchemical Golems, a single pass could destroy half of them.

A Ninth-Rank Title Archmage could easily wipe out over a hundred Level 30 spellcasting alchemical golems.

That’s because the golems’ attacks were simply too weak against such masters, and sheer numbers didn’t help much.

But now it’s different. A hundred spellcasting alchemical golems of the same rank, launching a surprise attack, could vaporize a Ninth-Rank Title Archmage...

The laser beam’s enhanced piercing ability was designed specifically to counter mage shields.

The experiment’s results thrilled everyone—Krovitz’s face was flushed with excitement.

“Let’s test its power against magical shields and heavy armor...”

Leon casually cast a Gate of Eskrym, and the massive ice gate stood tall in the distance. The alchemical golem moved away, preparing to test the new weapon’s power against mage defensive spells.

At that moment, a thunderclap echoed in the sky—a streak of turquoise lightning surged toward them from afar.

The thunder rolled in like a river of turquoise lightning flowing across the heavens, the rumbling growing louder until it was deafening.

Leon’s brows furrowed, his gaze turning cold in an instant.

The supernatural aura within that turquoise lightning could be sensed from several kilometers away.

The lightning closed in at breakneck speed. The team of alchemists in the experimental base immediately followed protocol, opening a portal to teleport to the Gray Orc Fortress.

Just as they exited the factory and laboratory, the turquoise lightning struck—its massive bolt, hundreds of meters long, stabbed straight down into the base like a blinding sword.

The seven- or eight-meter-thick lightning twisted violently, splitting into smaller bolts that branched out like a colossal lightning tree growing over the base.

Swept by the lightning, swathes of mechanical alchemical golems exploded, and within seconds, the entire factory and laboratory were reduced to ruins.

All the specialized machinery for producing Full Right-Angle Magic Reaction Cores and new weapons, along with countless experimental prototypes and unfinished products, were destroyed...

In just seconds, the temporary base—spanning two to three hundred meters—was completely scrapped. Everything inside was ruined, and all the precious machinery turned to scrap metal...

Leon’s face darkened, his eyes glinting coldly.

The enemy’s speed was overwhelming—there was no way to defend against it. They opened with a Ninth-Rank spell; if Leon hadn’t protected the alchemists, the loss wouldn’t just be a factory and experimental base, but dozens of Grand Alchemists, seven or eight Grandmaster Alchemists, and even Krovitz, the top creator, could have been killed...

Krovitz glared, his eyes bloodshot with rage.

He’d led a team of alchemists—the strongest the Gray Orcs had—working nearly nonstop for over half a month to build that production line, and now it was wiped clean.

There were also countless semi-finished products, unfinished items, and even some completed ones that just needed optimization.

Now, it was all destroyed...

These things aren’t something you can just remake at will. Every successful new product is a rare experience and a precious sample.

Everything in the laboratory was the result of everyone’s hard work. After this destruction, it would take months just to get back to where they were before.

Some especially unique items, if interrupted, might take years to resume research.

Leon, expressionless, instructed Krovitz to lead everyone out through the portal.

Though this place was only a few kilometers from the Gray Orc Fortress, Leon knew that Dubois Charles could arrive at any moment—and losing these alchemists was simply unacceptable.

The base and laboratory could be rebuilt if lost, but losing the alchemists would be a crippling blow.

So when establishing this site, Leon personally spent resources to set up a portal.

He even built in safeguards: this portal can only be traversed by those below Sky Rank. If anyone with supernatural power tries to pass through, the portal will shift coordinates mid-transfer and exile them to a Hell Gate.

The aura that opens that Hell Gate belongs to the demon lord Leon once used. That demon lord would certainly seize this opportunity.

If Dubois Charles, a First-Rank Sky Rank mage, encountered a demon lord mid-teleport, he’d be absolutely delighted...

Even the fortress portals restrict teleportation for supernatural beings—if a Sky Rank tries to use them, the portal collapses. Enemy teleportation into the fortress is simply impossible...

There may not seem to be many guards near each portal, but there’s a traffic restriction: any enemy who teleports in will be greeted by at least three hundred alchemical golems at full force—and Hubert, who’s taken a liking to patrolling the fortress...

Anyone below Sky Rank wouldn’t stand a chance of escaping...

Once all the alchemists had left through the portal, Leon finally looked up at the sky.

The thunder and lightning dispersed, the lightning tree vanished, and Dubois Charles, clad in black robes, floated silently in the sky, lightning serpents coiling around him.

“Leon Merlin. Kneel.”

Dubois Charles’s face was cold, looking down on Leon like an ant, his supernatural power radiating and crushing down, not even giving Leon a chance to speak—he was ready to suppress him instantly.

Leon’s expression remained calm as he gazed at Dubois Charles.

The oppressive supernatural aura pressed down, the air became solid as stone, and magical elements were suppressed, unable to flow.

It was as if an invisible mountain crushed everything within hundreds of meters.

But this time, as that terrifying aura reached Leon, it slipped aside like water.

Behind Leon, a massive phantom wheel appeared out of thin air. In its starry depths, four colors of light swirled and merged into a ring, sliding away all the pressure bearing down on him.

A flicker of surprise flashed in Dubois Charles’s eyes.

Last time, this foolish little ant had to exhaust himself deploying every defense just to withstand my pressure. How is it that now, without any defenses, he can resist me?

Hmm, has he already established his foundation of magical rules?
