It's Really Hungry
When the beast tide struck, many weak spirit beasts died in the forest.
They made their way out of the woods, picking up quite a few along the way.
A guard picked up a Long-eared Spirit Rabbit and handed it to her.
Sophie Sun took it and walked toward the Red-crested Golden Eagle.
It's pretty common for Spirit Practitioners to keep spirit pets.
Sophie Sun already had one, so she was quite experienced.
She tested the waters by tossing the rabbit in front of it, saying, “Come home with me, and I’ll feed you spirit beast meat every day.”
The Red-crested Golden Eagle glanced at her but didn’t move.
That terrifying, god-like presence was still nearby, so it didn’t dare make a move.
“I’m a Spiritual Alchemist. I can make pills for you,” Sophie Sun added. “But you have to behave.”
It was still acting the same, so gentle and humble it was practically melting into the ground.
Sophie Sun felt even more confident now. She slowly tried to get closer and said, “From now on, you’ll be my mount! Together, we’ll be the brightest stars in Blue Moon Kingdom.”
With that, Sophie Sun leapt up and landed on the Red-crested Golden Eagle’s back.
Still, it didn’t move an inch.
“Wow! Cousin, you’re amazing!” Jason Liu exclaimed, eyes wide. “You actually tamed it!”
“Right? No wonder you’re a super genius with the Five Element Spirit Root—even the famously ferocious Red-crested Golden Eagle listens to you!” Serena Liu chimed in.
The Liu family only became royal merchants thanks to their marriage connection with the Sun family, specializing in supplying medicinal herbs.
So, the siblings did everything they could to curry favor with Sophie Sun.
Sophie Sun smiled slightly and commanded, “Try flying.”
The Red-crested Golden Eagle stayed put.
“Come on, fly! Why are you just standing there, not moving?”
Still, it didn’t move.
“Hurry up! Fly!” Sophie Sun felt embarrassed in front of the Liu siblings, so she grabbed a handful of feathers on the Red-crested Golden Eagle’s neck. “Fly, and I’ll give you pills!”
Just then, the Red-crested Golden Eagle suddenly sensed that the divine presence had left.
It immediately straightened up and turned to look at the human sitting on its back.
Honestly, after all that fuss, it really was hungry.
With a sudden shake, it threw Sophie Sun off.
Then, with one claw, it pinned her to the ground and opened its beak, aiming right at her.
Sophie Sun was shocked and quickly unleashed several fierce energy swords straight at the Red-crested Golden Eagle.
But when the energy swords hit, it didn’t even flinch. It just kept pecking at her face, calm and unhurried.
Sophie Sun whipped out a long whip from her waist and lashed it at the eagle.
But with a flick of its wings, the golden eagle sent the whip flying out of her hand.
Her arm throbbed with pain, almost to the point of breaking!
Sophie Sun’s face was full of terror as she shouted, “Quick! Help me! Get me out of here!”
Just one round was enough for her to realize she was no match for the golden eagle!
Several guards rushed over with swords to help, and the Liu siblings joined in. Together, they finally managed to rescue Sophie Sun from the eagle’s claws.
The Red-crested Golden Eagle was naturally combative, and now its fighting spirit was triggered. It spread its wings and swooped down on them...
......
Grace noticed that everyone’s attention was on the Red-crested Golden Eagle, so she quietly slipped away without being noticed.
She needed to go find Louis Lin.
She had no idea how he was doing.
But she hadn’t gone far when she suddenly heard a scream.
A scream that was absolutely bloodcurdling.
Curious, she ran back and hid behind the same rock to spy on them.
What she saw made her jump in fright.
The Red-crested Golden Eagle, which had been as gentle as a lamb just moments ago, was now blazing with murderous intent, pinning a guard to the ground with one claw.
