How Dare She Be Angry With Me
Evan Xiao rode his horse, slowly ambling back to the General’s Manor.
When he reached the gate, he didn’t go inside. Instead, he simply handed his horse off to the staff.
"Whoa, General?" Quentin Chin was just about to head out, but the moment he stepped through the door, he spotted Evan Xiao brooding under the big tree outside. "General, where have you been? You’ve been gone for days—we were all worried sick!"
"No big deal," Evan Xiao replied, strolling inside.
Quentin Chin hurried after him, chattering as they walked: "Oh, General, you have no idea! Ever since you left, something huge happened in town! Kevin Zhuo caught the Spirit Plague! All the townsfolk are fleeing, even the Empress Dowager and His Majesty have left..."
"Quentin Chin," Evan Xiao suddenly called out.
"Hmm? Need something, General?" Quentin Chin asked.
"If a woman is angry, how do you make her stop being mad?"
"Huh?" Quentin Chin was still reeling from all the chaos and the Spirit Plague, but suddenly hit with that question, he froze for a moment before repeating, "A woman’s angry? How do you make her not mad?"
Grace had been sulking for ages.
"Well... I think... First, you have to figure out why she's angry. Did you do something to hurt her, or is it just a misunderstanding?"
"Kind of... I did something to let her down," Evan Xiao admitted.
"You did something to let her down... Wait, was it with another woman...?"
Evan Xiao's face darkened. "No."
"Oh!" Quentin Chin instantly relaxed. "As long as it's not that, it's much easier to fix!"
Evan Xiao shot him a look. "So what should I do?"
"Just coax her!"
"Little Cutie?" Grace asked. "Where?"
"Well... First, you need to apologize sincerely. Explain to her clearly that you had your reasons for what you did, and ask for her forgiveness."
Evan Xiao nodded. "And then?"
Grace frowned. "Whose is this? Evan Xiao's?"
"What kind of gift?"
"Take it back! I'm not accepting it!" Grace said, face cold.
Evan Xiao walked quietly inside, saying nothing more.
Quentin Chin glanced at him and cautiously asked, "General, did you make Miss Lawrence mad?"
"How would she dare be mad at me?" Evan Xiao strode coolly into Frostmoon Quarters.
"Alright, alright, don't cry!" Grace said. "Did he threaten you? Said if you didn't deliver the letter, he wouldn't let you hang out with the dragon?"
......
In Serenity Pavilion.
Qingluan had been sulking for ages.
Evan Xiao actually tricked her like that!
He sent her thousands of miles away, and even pretended his horse was stolen...
She would never forgive him!
Never!
"Miss! Miss!" Just as she was stewing, Xi'er rushed in, brimming with excitement.
"What is it?"
"Little Cutie is back!"
"Little Cutie?" Qingluan asked. "Where?"
Before she could finish, Little Cutie swam in, bounced its tail, and hopped right onto her knee, holding its tail up to her.
There was a tiny envelope tied to its tail.
Qingluan frowned. "Whose is this? Evan Xiao's?"
The antlered snake nodded.
"Take it back! I'm not accepting it!" Qingluan said, face cold.
The antlered snake shook its head and raised its tail even higher.
"Be good, take it back."
The antlered snake shook its head again, its eyes looking a little watery, as if about to cry.
"Alright, alright, don't cry!" Qingluan said. "Did he threaten you? Said if you didn't deliver the letter, he wouldn't let you hang out with the dragon?"
