As soon as the news spread, the Empress Dowager, Colin Gu, Grace Lawrence, Wendy Zhu, and the others all rushed to Consort Vivian's quarters.
Doctors and Spiritual Alchemists filled the room, taking pulses and administering acupuncture. They busied themselves for two hours, but still couldn't figure out why Consort Vivian was suddenly bleeding.
Then, the Imperial Advisor showed up uninvited, gave Consort Vivian a medicinal pill, and performed a ritual outside her door. Only then did Consort Vivian recover.
Colin Gu finally breathed a sigh of relief and asked Leon Zane what had happened.
Leon Zane frowned and said, "Last night, I noticed the moon was especially bright. The moon governs the central palace—perhaps it's because the Eastern Palace Empress entered the palace yesterday."
"What do you mean?" Colin Gu frowned. "Are you saying Consort Vivian's condition has something to do with the Empress?"
"A bright moon is a sign of national prosperity," Leon Zane explained. "But these past few days, the planets of metal and fire have been perfectly aligned with the moon, forming a sharp blade of moonlight that points directly south. Consort Vivian's chambers are in the south, so I suspect she was affected by this alignment."
Leon Zane glanced at Grace Lawrence and added, "In simple terms, the Eastern Palace Empress is exceptionally gifted, but her brilliance unintentionally harmed Consort Vivian's pregnancy."
"So how do we resolve this?" Colin Gu asked, frowning.
"I've already performed a ritual to block the moon's sharp energy, so there's no need to worry now," Leon Zane replied.
Colin Gu nodded and finally relaxed.
In times of crisis, it was always the Imperial Advisor who could solve his problems!
"However," Leon Zane continued, "I ask that Your Majesty avoid visiting the Eastern Palace for the next few days. Otherwise, your presence will greatly intensify the moon's energy, and even I won't be able to block it."
Grace Lawrence couldn't help admiring Leon Zane's talent for making things up.
He really was a genius!
Colin Gu asked, a little annoyed, "How long will this take?"
"About seven days," Leon Zane replied. "After seven days, the metal and fire planets will shift, and the moon's energy will be gone."
Colin Gu frowned and nodded.
Grace Lawrence walked up to Colin Gu, looking uneasy. "Your Majesty, I'm sorry. It's my fault."
"How could this be your fault?" Colin Gu said gently. "It has nothing to do with you."
Grace Lawrence felt relieved and gave him a gentle smile.
Colin Gu's heart fluttered, and his gaze toward her was full of longing.
Leon Zane watched them exchanging glances and suddenly felt, for no reason at all, that his own master was wearing a big, bright green hat. Furious, he packed up his things and stormed off to Lillian Lee's place.
Lillian Lee, with her face so ugly it made people want to puke, asked, "What's wrong? You look angry."
"That Grace Lawrence..." He was so mad he couldn't finish his sentence. "She's absolutely shameless and lewd! How could our Highness give her his reverse scale? It's so unfair!"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Just now at Consort Vivian's place, she and Colin Gu were exchanging glances. It drove me crazy!"
Bianca Whitefan raised an eyebrow at him. "Weren't you the one who didn't want His Highness to bring her back in the first place? Isn't this exactly what you wanted? So why are you mad?"
Leon Zane opened his mouth, eyes drooping. "I don't even know why I'm mad. I just am! I feel bad for His Highness!"
Bianca Whitefan chuckled. "Actually, I think... she's not that simple."
"What do you mean?"
"She came to see me in the middle of the night, begging and threatening me to get you to help her," Bianca Whitefan said. "From what she said, it sounds like she'll be free in seven days."
