"Seriously?"
"Yvonne Zhu's new boyfriend?"
Damn, I hadn't heard anything! I better tell Derek Keene right away!
A bunch of people heard Victor Zhu's announcement, each showing a different reaction.
"What are you doing?"
Yvonne Zhu was startled by Victor Zhu's move, her expression darkened with anger.
"Nothing much, just thought I'd take the chance with everyone here to announce it to our circle," Victor Zhu chuckled. "Sis, I'm helping you out here. As your big brother, how could I not know what you're thinking?"
"You're too shy to say it yourself, so as your brother, I'll give you a little push. No need to thank me!"
As soon as he finished speaking, worry filled Yvonne Zhu's eyes.
"Yvonne Zhu, the Zhu family's girl, is here too! She slapped you in public at the train station, but Faye Zheng, don't worry—my master will be in Oceanport later tonight. I'll call him right now and have him back you up! You can slap her right back!" Leo Li's face darkened as he spotted Yvonne Zhu.
Beside him, Faye Zheng's pretty face was filled with resentment. "Those slaps—I'll get them back sooner or later!"
"All my life, my parents never even hit me! And her boyfriend—could it really be that guy?"
A bad feeling crept into Faye Zheng's heart. She remembered how Yvonne Zhu had slapped her at the train station, then later defied everyone and rammed open the Zheng manor gates to leave with Evan Lin. The thought made her uneasy.
Faye Zheng still didn't quite understand why Yvonne Zhu kept backing Evan Lin again and again, but with the Zhu clan supporting her, it was no wonder Evan Lin could act so fearlessly.
"This is going to be good. I want to see which idiot has the guts to go after the woman Derek Keene likes." Gavin Guan leaned on the railing, squinting toward Victor Zhu, then glanced at Selina Shi beside him, his tone softening: "Selina, don't worry. I promised you—if you keep me company for a month, I guarantee I won't tell Butcher Tu Evan Lin's name. That way, Butcher Tu won't be able to find him."
"Besides, I know you like my brother, Austin Guan. I get it. But still, I'm sincere about you."
Gavin Guan looked completely earnest.
Selina Shi was unmoved. She lazily stretched. "Sorry, I'm really not interested in you."
Gavin Guan's face darkened at her words.
"Alright, everyone, eyes up!"
Victor Zhu shouted again, drawing everyone's attention.
The next second, he yanked open the car door.
Evan Lin didn't even spare him a glance. He got out of the car on his own, not bothering to acknowledge Victor Zhu's clownish antics.
As soon as Evan got out, Yvonne Zhu quickly stepped forward, nerves on edge.
"Who is this kid? Looks pretty average. Never seen him around Oceanport before," someone asked, curious as they eyed Evan Lin.
"No clue. Maybe he's some top student who just came back from studying abroad?" someone else guessed, full of suspicion.
More people sized Evan up, their gazes full of amusement.
Some had already started calling Derek Keene.
"It's really him!" Faye Zheng's heart skipped a beat, her feelings a tangled mess of frustration and resentment.
"A guy from poor Whitewood County—what right does he have to latch onto Yvonne Zhu and the Zhu family's backing?"
Faye Zheng gritted her teeth, her eyes burning with anger. "He even spilled blood in my Zheng manor—does he really think he's some kind of hero?"
"It's him! Damn it, I'm calling my master right now! Shit!" Leo Li's face twisted as he recognized Evan Lin, immediately dialing his phone.
"How could it be him!" Gavin Guan had just been looking forward to a good show, hoping to impress Selina Shi with his driving skills tonight. But the moment he saw Evan Lin get out of the car, his face turned extremely dark. "Unbelievable. He actually chased us all the way to Oceanport? Guess he's got a death wish!"
Gavin didn't hesitate for a second, quietly sending out a text message.
Selina Shi frowned slightly, surprised to see Evan Lin standing over there.
To Selina, Evan Lin was just a brave, somewhat aloof teenager with a weak background, but somehow he always managed to pull off miracles.
Selina had a good impression of Evan, but she hadn't expected him to show up in Oceanport—let alone with the Zhu family heiress. And now he was even rumored to be Yvonne Zhu's boyfriend?
There were way too many twists in this story. Selina leaned on the railing, unconcerned, and called out to Evan Lin: "Hey! Long time no see!"
Her voice was clear and bright. Evan looked over, saw Selina, and nodded with a smile. "Long time no see."
Selina's appearance here surprised Evan. He'd been thinking about visiting the Guan family in person after Butcher Tu returned.
"What's going on? Even the girl Gavin Guan brought seems to know him?"
"Who the heck is this guy, anyway?"
"You can't help but respect him."
The crowd clicked their tongues in amazement.
Even Victor Zhu felt the vibe was getting strange for a moment.
Yvonne Zhu and Faye Zheng both heard Selina's voice and glanced at her. The three girls now stood at three separate spots, sizing each other up like rivals.
Yvonne's eyes were hostile, Faye Zheng was full of suspicion, and Selina Shi stayed laid-back as always, smiling at Evan Lin. The more she watched him, the more she felt he was different—he always showed up and smashed through everything, like a living legend.
"Hey, Victor, quit keeping us in suspense! Introduce him! Which family does this guy come from, anyway?"
"Yeah! What's his surname, what does his family do? If Yvonne Zhu picked him, we're all curious!"
"Exactly! Everyone knows Yvonne's standards are sky-high. All these years, no toad has ever gotten a taste of that swan!"
The crowd bustled, all eyes on Evan.
Yvonne Zhu snapped back to reality and instinctively stepped in front of Evan Lin, her voice cold: "My business is none of yours."
"Just mind your own business."
Most people looked even more dissatisfied at this.
"Don't tell me he's just some softie who hides behind girls?"
Someone shouted from the crowd.
Victor Zhu grinned at Evan Lin. "Why don't you introduce yourself, bro?"
"We're all friends now. We'll be hanging out a lot, so don't be shy. Let us see what kind of backing you've got!"
His tone was playful.
Evan Lin glanced around calmly and said, "My surname is Lin."
