A Pair of Scoundrels

"Ah! Damn!! That ruthless?! No wonder I ended up so miserable! Turns out I was set up!" David Yu cried out, his face ashen.

"Exactly! The person who screwed you over shouldn't be hard to find, because this was a step-by-step, well-planned conspiracy. Think about who was closest to you before you went bankrupt, or who you trusted the most. That person probably isn't sticking by you anymore, but is living it up with your fortune! I'd bet nine times out of ten it's him!" Shawn Young reminded him.

"Ah!! Damn, it must be Howard Kay and Fiona Chin, that pair of cheating scumbags! Shit! Those two were the people I trusted most! Who would've thought they'd team up to screw me over, leaving me in this sorry state! I really was blind as a bat! I—" David Yu was so furious his face turned pale, slapping his bald head and stomping hard on the ground, venting all his rage.

"Boss Yu! Right now you're just suspecting those two, but do you have any direct evidence that they really worked together on this?" Shawn Young poured cold water on him from the side.

"Uh—hmph, no need to say, it's definitely those two scumbags who teamed up to screw me. Howard Kay was my company's VP. Back then, he was just a broke college kid—I gave him the chance, helped him climb up to VP! He was involved in all the major projects, but later, the ones he managed lost a ton of money! The board chewed him out, and I demoted him. He acted obedient, but I knew he was proud and resentful! After the demotion, he toned down a lot, always sucking up to me, acting all well-behaved. I thought he learned his lesson, so I made him VP again, hoping he'd do better. But now I see, he was plotting against me all along!" David Yu said, looking thoroughly depressed.

"Is Qin Fen a woman? Why do you think she and Howard Kay teamed up against you?" Rainie Bai asked curiously from the side.

"Hmph—that Fiona Chin is my wife! She's a real piece of work! Gorgeous and seductive, with a killer body—and she's amazing in bed! She can make a man feel like he's in heaven, willing to give her everything! Damn, I married her for her looks and wild side! That sexy fox knows how to tease men! I heard rumors that when I was away on business or out of the country, she secretly hooked up with Howard Kay. But I never had proof, and I liked her a lot back then. Howard Kay always acted like a good guy, no hint of anything shady! Shit! Now I'm stuck in this dump, while those two scumbags are living the good life! Screw them—" David Yu grumbled bitterly.

"Uh—how can you be so sure it's them working together? What if it wasn't them?" Rainie Bai found David Yu's crude language grating, but could understand his anger.

"Who else could it be?! I wasn't much of a gambler before—Howard Kay was the one who encouraged me to start! He even introduced me to all those big casinos! And Fiona Chin, don't even get me started—normally she never made me anything to eat, but during that time, she was like a changed woman, doing her best to please me in bed and even making soup for me! Said it was to help me recover! Five times in total! Damn it, I only got hooked on gambling after drinking those five bowls of her special soup!" David Yu yelled, his eyes blazing, looking ready to explode but not sure where to direct his rage. He hung his bald head, staring furiously at the ground, veins bulging on his neck, fists clenched, his face twisted and grim.

Seeing the scene, Shawn Young knew David Yu was suffering inside, so he deliberately asked, "Boss Yu, now that you know who's behind all this, what do you plan to do?"

"I've got five bucks left! I'm gonna buy a gun, head back home, and take out those two cheating bastards! Hell, if they won't let me live, I'll drag them down with me! We'll all go down together!" David Yu snarled through gritted teeth.

"Really? Boss Yu, in your current state, you probably can't even get close to them! Plus, that 'Five Ghosts Wealth Manipulation Ritual' has a special effect—it lets the caster know exactly where you are. Even if you're far away, they can still control those five little ghosts inside you! If one of them is the caster, the moment you approach, they'll know. So if you want to assassinate them, your odds are slim. In fact, you're more likely to get knocked off first!" Shawn Young said coldly.

"Ah—so, so what should I do? Is there no hope for me? Little brother, I—I've never done anything truly evil in my life. When I had money, I did plenty of charity! I can't accept this! Since you know they've used this wicked magic against me, you must have a way to save me! I've never begged anyone before, but this time, I'm begging you—please save me! Even if it means killing those two scumbags, I'd die with no regrets!" As he spoke, David Yu dropped to his knees in front of Shawn Young, his bald head banging against the hard street, tears and snot streaming down his face—he looked truly pitiful.

Rainie Bai watched David Yu's miserable state and felt a deep sympathy. She'd experienced that kind of helplessness herself, so she understood David Yu really was at the end of his rope. She softly whispered to Shawn Young, "Shawn—he looks so pitiful, please, help him out!"

Hearing Rainie Bai plead for him, David Yu kowtowed even harder, desperately begging Shawn Young: "Little brother, please save me! I swear to the heavens, if you help me get rid of those two scumbags, as long as I live, I'll be your loyal servant! If I break my word, may lightning strike me dead in the street—"

Strangely enough, as soon as David Yu finished speaking, dark clouds rolled across the sky and thunder rumbled. A fierce wind whipped up, and less than a minute later, a bolt of lightning cracked down, striking a small tree by the street with a puff of smoke!

David Yu was terrified by the phenomenon, but it only made him kowtow harder, skin splitting on his forehead, blood oozing, but he didn't dare stop, believing the gods were testing his sincerity.

Shawn Young looked up at the sky, dark clouds swirling, lightning flashing—it looked like a downpour was coming. He said to David Yu, "Enough! Enough! Stop kowtowing, it's about to rain! Get up!"

"You—you have to promise to save me, or I won't get up!" David Yu shouted stubbornly.

"Damn! Fine! I promise! Now get up! You're a grown man, crying and carrying on like this—you're supposed to be a famous entrepreneur! Watch your image!" Shawn Young yelled, exasperated.

"Really?! That's great—let me kowtow a few more times!" David Yu was overjoyed, respectfully kowtowing three more times, then got up and stood beside Shawn Young, wiping his tears and snot.

Rainie Bai saw how pitiful he looked and softened, pulling out a small white towel from her pocket and handing it to him. "Mr. Yu, here, wipe up!"

David Yu gratefully took the towel, thanking Rainie Bai repeatedly. "Thank you! Thank you, boss lady!"

"Uh—" Rainie Bai shot him a look, and David Yu quickly shut up. But Rainie Bai sneaked a glance at Shawn Young and saw he wasn't bothered, which made her secretly happy.
