Maxwell Jing frowned and asked, "No, why?"
"Wasn't the medicine he gave me last time specially made for Mona Shangguan?"
Maxwell Jing raised his eyebrows. "What kind of medicine did he give you?"
"The one that makes you stink after intimacy!"
Maxwell Jing twitched his lips and muttered quietly, "A leopard can't change its spots!"
"What?" Quentin Hua frowned, puzzled by the meaning.
Maxwell Jing shook his head. "It's nothing! Isn't it just two Stench Pills? Do you have to laugh like a lunatic?" If he hadn't heard that exaggerated laughter, he wouldn't have come over to check.
Quentin Hua didn't mind being compared to a lunatic; he was clearly very curious about that medicine. "You know about it?"
Maxwell Jing rolled his eyes, his tone tinged with a hint of grievance. "Of course! I was tormented by that pill for a whole month, how could I not know? I even named it myself!"
Quentin Hua squinted at him and asked, "Didn't you avoid those beauties? How did you end up stinking?"
Maxwell Jing pursed his lips and spat out four words, "Mind your own business!" Then he ignored him and turned to leave.
Quentin Hua shrugged and wandered off as well.
After returning from Qingyin Temple, no one came to invite them for lake outings or anything. Morgan Shangguan and Damien Gray were enjoying a rather comfortable life.
In the courtyard, Morgan Shangguan lounged in Damien Gray's arms, squinting at him with a hint of danger in her voice as she began to demand answers. "Ghostmaster, what is the meaning of this?" She shook the paper in her hand—the latest message just delivered from the Cloud Guild.
Damien Gray looked completely innocent, while Morgan Shangguan seemed ready for an interrogation. She bit his lip and traced her palm across his chest, snorting coldly, "So, Ghostmaster, are you planning to make an enemy of the Cloud Guild?"
Damien Gray looked even more innocent and reminded her, "Mo'er, you're the one who's always wanted to challenge the Ghost Guild!"
Morgan Shangguan's lips curled dangerously as she straddled his waist, yanked his collar, and lifted him off the soft couch, waving the paper in her hand. "So, Ghostmaster, you decided to strike first?"
Susie Yun, watching from the side, wiped her sweat nervously. Is this really the young lady? So rough! Sigh... It seems she's been spoiled by the Ghost King!
Damien Gray smiled helplessly. "Mo'er, it's just a small deal of five thousand taels of silver. I'm sure the Cloud Guild couldn't care less!"
Morgan Shangguan snorted coldly. "It's not just about the silver! Damien Gray, the relationship between the Ghost Guild and the Cloud Guild is delicate..."
Before she could finish, Damien Gray interrupted, nodding, "Yes, because our relationship is just too delicate!" With that, he kissed her on the lips.
Susie Yun couldn't help but want to laugh, but considering the current atmosphere... hmm... it was just too delicate, so she held it in.
Morgan Shangguan shoved him away and snorted coldly, "The Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild have never taken the same job. Now the Cloud Guild has already accepted this deal, but the Ghost Guild insists on barging in. Ghostmaster, do you even respect me as the Guildmaster?"
Damien Gray took her hand and placed it over his heart, smiling, "Right here—can you feel it?"
Morgan Shangguan glared at him. "Damien Gray, be serious!"
Damien Gray looked helpless. "Alright, I'll be serious!" He squinted at Morgan Shangguan for a long moment before finally smiling. "Mo'er, you want to declare war but still try to blame it all on me. How could things be so easy in this world?"
Morgan Shangguan said nothing. Damien Gray continued, "The Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild have always had an unspoken agreement never to take the same job. Before accepting any deal, the Ghost Guild always investigates thoroughly. If the Cloud Guild has already taken a contract, the Ghost Guild never interferes—there's never been a mistake until now. So why has this happened? Hmm?"
Gently stroking her face, Damien Gray chuckled softly, "Shouldn't the Guildmaster give me an explanation?"
Morgan Shangguan looked at him and smiled faintly. "Your men made a mistake, yet you want me, the Guildmaster, to explain it to you? How does that make sense?"
Damien Gray laughed. "It was indeed a mistake, but perhaps the Cloud Guild was just a bit too diligent? If it weren't for the Cloud Guild's misleading information, I'm sure the Ghost Guild wouldn't have failed to get the facts straight!"
Morgan Shangguan showed no sign of embarrassment at being exposed. She pushed him back onto the couch, lay down on his chest, and sighed softly, "Ghostmaster, can't you just be a little less sharp sometimes?"
Damien Gray replied innocently, "Weren't you the one who told me to be serious? If you want me to be muddle-headed, that's fine too! Beauty trap!"
Morgan Shangguan glanced at him and whispered, "It's time."
Though her words seemed out of nowhere, Damien Gray understood her meaning. It was time for the Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild to become true adversaries. The upcoming banquet at Jade Dragon Manor would likely be anything but peaceful. If Felix Yu was really searching for something so precious, then having the Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild at odds was the best strategy!
If the Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild got along too well, other factions would unite against them, seeking to eliminate these two major powers first. But if the Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild opposed each other, no one would dare make the first move. They'd wait for both sides to exhaust themselves, then reap the benefits.
This way, they'd avoid a lot of trouble—and maybe even gain a few unexpected benefits!
At that moment, someone arrived to report, "Your Highness, Princess Consort, Miss Shangguan requests the Princess Consort to come to the Crown Prince's Manor!"
Upon hearing this, Morgan Shangguan raised her eyebrows. Mona Shangguan was looking for her? Did she want to show off her affection with Adrian Yarrow, or... was Mona just a decoy?
Damien Gray sighed, "Looks like our good days are over!"
Hearing his words, Morgan Shangguan couldn't help but laugh softly. "Even if the two kingdoms go to war, wouldn't you, Ghostmaster, still live well?"
Damien Gray held her in his arms, sighed again, and gently bit her earlobe, saying with a hint of grievance, "How could days without the Princess Consort in my embrace be called good days?"
Morgan Shangguan couldn't help but laugh. "Had enough hugging? If you have, then let go!"
Damien Gray nibbled her earlobe and whispered ambiguously, "Then there's no choice but to hold you forever." He could never get enough of her!
Morgan Shangguan cupped his face, looked at him, and asked, "Don't you have anything better to do?"
