Grandpa Mo truly likes Cecilia Gu now.
If in the past, Cecilia Gu's engagement to Max Mo was only out of respect for family tradition,
then now, Grandpa Mo genuinely admires this girl.
She has guts, courage, and a sense of responsibility.
Most importantly, she has a conscience.
To be honest, if she were cold-hearted, she could have teamed up with the pirates, betrayed him, and let them kill him—ending things once and for all.
And if he died at the hands of pirates, the Mo Family would only trace it back to the pirates, never suspecting Cecilia Gu.
But Cecilia Gu didn't do that. Instead, after unexpectedly discovering his whereabouts, she risked her life—despite the danger of total defeat—and fought for a chance to escape.
Although the explosion of the speedboat was an accident, it's undeniable that, with the right timing and circumstances, he was truly saved.
But as for her, she's now missing, her fate unknown.
Just for her loyalty and selflessness, the Mo Family owes her a debt of gratitude.
Originally, the Mo Family planned to use Cecilia Gu's birthday banquet to pressure the Yun Family into acknowledging the marriage between the two families.
But now, everything seems to be changing.
After something like this, the Mo Family has to preserve their dignity.
Still, Old Master Mo wants to fight for one last chance for his grandson.
If his grandson misses this final opportunity... then there's truly no fate between the two of them!
Max Mo understood Grandpa Mo's meaning and said firmly, "I'll change course immediately. I must arrive before the rain stops!"
On the island where Captain Hans was, he paced back and forth, agitated. "Why isn't it fixed yet?" he demanded.
His subordinate replied helplessly, "Boss, the engine broke in such a strange way. We checked it—it was fine. How could it suddenly break down for no reason?"
Broke down for no reason?
Captain Hans froze for a moment, his gaze drifting to Ethan Yin not far away.
"How could it be? Am I actually suspecting this child?" Captain Hans muttered to himself. "A three-and-a-half-year-old kid, how could he possibly think to sabotage my engine? No, no, that's ridiculous! It's simply impossible."
Captain Hans cleared his throat. "Speed up the repairs! Even though we can keep in touch with the others, not being able to give orders directly is incredibly frustrating! Who knows what could go wrong over there!"
The subordinates responded and hurried to continue the repairs.
When Ethan Yin saw Captain Hans, a sly glint flashed in his eyes.
Ethan Yin silently recited in his heart: Mom, Ethan, godmother, godfather, you all must be safe! The bad captain is stuck on the island now, so hurry back! If you can rescue Grandpa Mo, Mom, does that mean you can marry Dad again?
Captain Hans saw Ethan Yin still dazed and couldn't help teasing him again.
"Ethan Yin, who do you think is more handsome, me or your dad?" Captain Hans asked with a smile.
Ethan Yin gave Captain Hans a disdainful look. "Do you really think you're as handsome as me? You can't even beat me, let alone my dad!"
Hans:
Why does this infuriating little kid always leave him speechless, yet Captain Hans still loves to tease him?
Has he gone from being a sadist to a masochist?
"You're just a kid. There's no comparison," Captain Hans protested, still unwilling to admit defeat.
"If you can't even beat a kid who isn't comparable, then what makes you think you can compete with my dad, who absolutely is?" Ethan Yin retorted.
Hans:
What now? Even though he couldn't get a word in, Captain Hans found himself liking this kid more and more.
After all these years, Ethan Yin was the only one who could ever leave him speechless.
Captain Hans sat down beside Ethan Yin and said, "If the engine can't be fixed, we won't be able to rejoin the main group. Are you scared?"
Ethan Yin turned to Hans and asked, "Captain Hans, are you just projecting your own fear?"
Hans:
Kids shouldn't be so sharp-tongued—it makes them less cute! At this age, you should be adorable and silly!
"Seriously, if you agree to be my student, I'll have my men let Max Mo go. How about that?" Captain Hans said calmly, gazing at the distant sea. "Even though you've been hiding things, don't forget—I have people on that island too. Maybe I didn't know what you were looking for before, but now it's impossible not to know. Even if they're careful, they still leave clues."
Ethan Yin thought he was too young and easily tricked by strange uncles into revealing things he shouldn't say.
So Ethan Yin decided to stay silent and not say a word, no matter what.
Mom said that strange uncles always set traps for kids, just waiting for them to fall in.
Captain Hans probably is one of those strange uncles, and Ethan definitely wasn't going to fall for it!
"If I hadn't stopped Max Mo's fleet, I wouldn't have realized the key to all this. But because Max Mo showed up, it reminded me of something. There's a general in the Mo Family who hasn't appeared recently. For Max Mo to be so anxious, it must be related to that general, right?" Captain Hans continued, not caring if Ethan Yin could understand him.
"So let's make a guess. Among the experts I've captured, one of them is the person you're looking for, isn't it? And that person just happens to be the Mo Family's general." Captain Hans narrowed his eyes. "Kid, you should know, I've crossed the Mo Family, and they won't let me go. So this is a fight to the death. Tell me, when I'm dying, do you think I'll drag you down with me?"
Ethan Yin's eyes darkened, but he still kept his mouth shut, refusing to say anything.
Ethan Yin only half understood Captain Hans's words.
He really is just too young. Smart, yes, but it's only little cleverness—for big matters, he's not there yet.

"My men are intercepting Max Mo's people at sea. As long as they can't make it, rescuing the Mo Family's general won't be easy for you. Dying together isn't a big deal—I'm not afraid," Captain Hans threatened Ethan Yin with a smile.
Ethan Yin turned to Hans and finally spoke: "Captain Hans, I'm only three and a half years old. I really don't understand what you're talking about—I'm not pretending. Your communicator isn't broken, so you could just tell my dad yourself!"
Hans chuckled twice. This kid really isn't cute at all...
After a full breakfast, Cecilia Gu finally had the strength to finish building the raft.
But when Cecilia Gu reached the riverbank, she was shocked to find the raft was gone!
Ahhhh! I'm doomed!
Where's my raft?
Where's the raft?!
Without a raft, how can she escape?
Just as Cecilia Gu was about to jump into the river in despair, Earl Field appeared, carrying a bundle of fresh water grass.
The raft was gone, and of course he knew why.
But he wasn't going to say anything.
"Maybe the current was too strong last night and washed the raft away? It's fine, I cut plenty more water grass, so we can finish another one today!" Earl Field comforted Cecilia Gu.
Cecilia Gu kicked a rock on the riverbank in frustration, then angrily turned to Earl Field, buried her head, and started weaving ropes to rebuild the raft.
Because the half-finished raft was lost, Cecilia Gu lost her appetite and kept her head down, weaving nonstop.
She had to get out in time! She had to find the children!
She absolutely couldn't just sit here and wait to die!
Earl Field saw Cecilia Gu's hands covered in cuts from the water grass, but she kept weaving, making him hesitate.
Last night, maybe he shouldn't have taken the raft...
But it's too late for regrets now. All he could do was work faster, helping Cecilia Gu build a new raft.
Maybe Cecilia Gu's silence struck a chord in Earl Field, because this time he worked quickly—within half a day, the new raft was finished.
Looking at the finished raft, Cecilia Gu felt like she was dreaming.
Did she really succeed?
Earl Field packed his backpack and said to Cecilia Gu, "What are you waiting for? Let's push the raft to the cave entrance and paddle out while the tide is low!"
Cecilia Gu snapped out of it and nodded excitedly!
She could finally go find the children!
Cecilia Gu took a deep breath and, working with Earl Field, pushed the raft all the way to the cave entrance.
Tonight, she wouldn't have to spend it with those damn bats anymore!
The tides follow a regular pattern.
After patiently waiting for two hours, the tide finally began to recede!
The two of them pushed the raft into the water, climbed aboard, and paddled hard with their homemade oars.
By now, the rain had eased up. When they burst out of the cave, it was only a light drizzle outside.
Suddenly, the view opened up. Cecilia Gu looked around, searching for any islands with smoke rising from them!
Maybe Miles Gu and Rona Muir are on one of those islands?
Just the thought of seeing Miles Gu and Rona Muir soon filled Cecilia Gu with energy again.
Earl Field glanced back at the cave.
His memories, perhaps, would be sealed away from this moment on.
Yes, that's enough.
Cecilia Gu looked around and asked, "Where did you see the smoke last time?"
Earl Field perked up and pointed to a nearby island. "Over there!"
Cecilia Gu instantly felt energized. "Let's go check it out first. If they're there, that'd be perfect!"
Earl Field didn't object and joined Cecilia Gu, paddling hard toward the island.
These islands are all part of an archipelago.
The waterways between the islands are complicated. Big ships can't get in—only small boats can navigate them.
And the currents are fast and tricky. One wrong move and you could get swept away.
But there's an upside—the sea doesn't surge wildly, so small rafts can safely weave through the channels.
