Low-Cost Acquisition

With Miles Gu’s persuasion, Wallace Kofi, who had originally been skeptical, immediately switched sides and began convincing his own people from Miles’s perspective.

“Think about it. GJ’s situation right now—if they can just protect themselves, that’s already impressive. It’s almost impossible for them to spare forces to protect our guests and friends. If the Yin Family runs into trouble mining here, why would they ever want to work with us again? Besides, Miles promised me those people would only operate near the mine and absolutely wouldn’t interfere with our affairs.” Wallace argued to the others.

“But we’ve never had outsiders bring armed forces here before,” someone objected. “Shouldn’t we ask the Clan Chief first?”

“Ask the Clan Chief? So he can mess up the contract again? This time, Miles only agreed to sign with us because of my personal plea! If we lose this deal, we might never be able to sell again! Think about the gold, think about the money in your pockets!” Wallace shot back.

Everyone fell silent.

They were scared too!

Wallace lowered his voice. “Besides, they’re only sending a few dozen people. What can they do? This is our turf!”

The others suddenly understood.

Yeah, that’s true.

Just a few dozen guards—what could they possibly do?

So after a quick discussion, they decided to bypass the Clan Chief and sign the contract with the Yin Family directly!

Once the contract was signed, Ethan Yin and Miles Gu couldn’t help but grin.

All that work these past few days finally paid off!

They saved a fortune!

This time, they really scored!

After politely seeing Wallace and the other Kofi Family members off, Miles Gu turned to Ethan Yin. “Ethan, do you think we were too ruthless this time?”

Ethan popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate. “Business is business. They’ve been shut off from the world for centuries—it’s time they learned a thing or two. Cheers!”

Miles took the glass and clinked it lightly with Ethan’s. “Honestly, their IQ is like elementary school kids. We didn’t even need to try. But you’re right—they’ll have to grow up sooner or later. At least this trip wasn’t a waste. Finally, everything’s settled! I can’t wait to go home!”

“Me too,” Ethan replied with a deep, knowing smile.

After the contract was signed, word quickly reached the Clan Chief.

The Clan Chief was stunned for a long time, then quietly retreated to his room.

After this incident, his authority in the family dropped sharply, while Wallace’s influence rose. It was clear Wallace was now openly challenging him for the position of Clan Chief.

He realized he needed to think things over carefully.

On the day the Yin Family delivered the gold, the whole Kofi Family was in a festive mood—everyone’s face was beaming with joy.

They’d never seen so much gold before.

It was all right there, shining brilliantly in front of them.

Ethan Yin said to the person in charge of the handover, “We’re serious about this. This is the first installment for the contract. Once our people are settled in, we’ll deliver the second part. Also, I heard you really need food supplies. When I get back home, I’ll see if I can arrange a batch to help you out.”

“Really? Thank you so much!” The Kofi Family member in charge of the handover was so moved, he nearly cried. “You’re truly good people! We need food desperately! If you have any extra, please sell it to us!”

“No problem, we’re all friends here.” Ethan Yin said, acting like everyone’s buddy. “If you need help with anything else you can’t use, just let us know. If we can help you find buyers, we’ll do our best!”

“Ethan, you’re such a good guy!” The Kofi Family members all exclaimed. “Don’t worry, we’ll make sure your mine is safe!”

With the handover complete, Ethan Yin and Miles Gu didn’t linger—they started their journey home.

There were no direct flights from GJ, so they had to transfer three times to France, then fly back home from there.

Ethan’s plane had just taken off when a car sped wildly into the temporary airport.

Casey Kofi jumped out of the car, desperate to chase after the plane.

But she couldn’t catch up.

“No, Ethan, you can’t leave! You can’t abandon me!” Casey sobbed, tears and sweat streaming down her face as she watched the plane disappear into the sky.

“How could you leave without saying goodbye? Now that you’re gone, where am I supposed to find you?” Casey cried her heart out.

Back home, Casey racked her brain. No way—she couldn’t give up so easily!

Ethan was the most handsome, most manly guy she’d ever met!

He was the kind of man she’d never be able to forget—a man who haunted her dreams.

She was determined to find him!

She was going to win him back!

Casey went to her father and said: "I’m going to find Ethan!"

"What did you say?" The Clan Chief looked at her in surprise.

"Dad, he’s my true love. If I lose him, I won’t survive!" Casey sobbed, covering her face. "Aren’t I your favorite daughter? You have to support me!"

The Clan Chief was stunned for a long time, then suddenly realized—if Casey really married Ethan, he wouldn’t have to worry about Wallace taking his position as Clan Chief.

That’s right!

With the Yin Family’s support, he’d be the strongest Clan Chief in the Kofi Family!

So what if Wallace is close to Miles?

Miles still doesn’t speak for the Yin Family!

But Ethan does represent the Yin Family!

The Clan Chief’s eyes lit up. He said to his youngest daughter, “Casey, if you want to go, go! Dad supports you!”

Casey, tears still on her face, looked at her father in disbelief. “Really? You really agree to let me go?”

The Clan Chief patted his daughter’s shoulder firmly. “Of course! You’re my dearest daughter. I’ll support you all the way!”

“Oh, Dad, I love you so much!” Casey cried, hugging her father tightly.

Meanwhile, Ethan Yin had no idea what kind of trouble he’d stirred up.

At this moment, he was feeling great—like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

Finally, he could relax!

He wondered how Cherry was doing lately.

Finally, they arrived in France. The two of them prepared to transfer flights at a small airport.

"Stop!" Suddenly, there was a commotion up ahead.

Ethan Yin saw someone running toward him, face hidden by a hat.

Maybe the person was nervous or had trouble walking, but as they passed Ethan, they accidentally bumped into him.

"Sorry," the person said in French.

"No problem," Ethan replied, helping steady the person.

The moment the person regained their balance, Ethan caught a glimpse of their face—and his eyes widened.

This person looked just like Cherry’s shameless father!

Ethan was about to confirm, but the person hurried off, with several others chasing after him.

"What’s wrong?" Miles Gu asked, puzzled. "We need to board."

"Miles, I think I just saw someone," Ethan said, frowning. "He looked just like Cherry’s father."

Miles replied, "Didn’t he divorce Aunt Mi ages ago? That jerk—who cares what happens to him!"

Ethan nodded. "True. A jerk like that, let him wander here forever. I hope he never shows up in front of Aunt Mi or Cherry again."

Miles patted Ethan’s shoulder. "Back when Mom rescued Aunt Mi in France, she ordered never to mention it again. Those painful memories are the last thing Aunt Mi wants to remember. Cherry grew up in the Yin Family, with us. No one can match that bond. So let’s not tell Cherry—no need to upset her."

"You’re right. I’ll pretend I never saw that jerk today," Ethan shrugged. "At least he knows better than to bother Cherry. Otherwise, I’d make him regret ever being born!"

"Cherry’s never mentioned him, so he probably hasn’t contacted her." Miles said. "That’s for the best."

"Alright, let’s board." Ethan let the matter drop.

Ethan still had no idea how important that moment was.

If he’d caught Cherry’s deadbeat dad right then, maybe Cherry would’ve decided to forgive him sooner.

Ethan and Miles boarded the plane with their group, finally heading home.

Back home, Cherry wasn’t thinking about her dad at all—her place was packed!

Ever since Ryan King found out about Jay Kee, he couldn’t help telling Leo and Theo Mo about it. Next thing you know, all the rich boys showed up!

If the apartment weren’t so small, they’d all want to squeeze in together.

“You guys really want to stay here?” Cherry sighed. “My young masters, you’ve got mansions to live in—why crowd in here? How about we all move to a nearby villa?”

“No way!” The boys all shook their heads. “It’s way more fun here!”

Leo Mo raised his hand. “Sis Cherry, we can share a room—we don’t mind!”

Lucas Mu said, “I’ll bunk with Ryan—we’ll share a room.”

Yuzhen Yin said, “I’ll room with Jason Jiang!”

Before Cherry could say anything, they’d already split up the rooms.

Cherry sighed. “Alright, since you’ve all decided, stay if you want. But with so many people, we’ll need help with chores. I’ll take care of it.”

Cherry called for maids and workers. They didn’t live there, but came by daily to clean and cook.

Soon, Cherry’s apartment was packed to the brim.

Next door, Jay Kee lay on his bed, biting his handkerchief, tears streaming down his face.

Why was Miss Miller so popular?

How could there be so many pretty boys?

If she could keep so many pretty boys, why not one more?

He was good and sensible too!

Jay Kee just couldn’t figure it out.
